Just a quick reminder... I had a problem of shifting and it was due to the voltage TOO high. It would overheat and cause skipping...by Happycamper - Reprappers
I think just by following the steps and that calculator, a lot of the little problems were fixed. I still have some things to work on, but it was a big help. As for the thin walls and overhangs, I have been using a fan and it helps a lot. I am using PLA... The parts I'm doing have such thin walls that they cannot be printed at shapeways in their White Strong and Flexible material. I can't reby Happycamper - Printing
I am printing at full speed, but take a look at the calculator. It lets you chose a size of object you are printing and will give optimal speeds etc... So in my case, I'm printing some small objects and I'd have to check on the exact speeds, but they are in the 30-40 mm/s range...by Happycamper - Printing
When I get a chance I'll try to load some images. I am using the J head .35 nozzle I have been printing at .2 and .1 layers.by Happycamper - Printing
I will tell you thing that helped me the most! Go to Tantillus.org and use the calculator there. I was getting really good results almost all the time. I was getting some bad prints at times and it would get finicky at times. I decided to follow the setup procedures and use the calculator from his site. Wow, my prints are soo much better now it's amazing. I have a makerfarm prusa i3... Alsby Happycamper - Printing
Thanks. I've been printing my chain links out and have been trying to figure out how to mount em too.by Happycamper - Safety & Best Practices
QuoteAntslake Well my printer is back up running. The extruder stepper sounds little funny, but prints are fine. Going to replace that, just in case. I had to repair 8 burnt plugs, and the ramps board. For the time being, I placed aluminum tape along the ramps board to cover the wood and act as a fire barrier. I went to the hardware store to buy a smoke alarm, and they had 2 kinds, a general oneby Happycamper - Safety & Best Practices
How does Kisslicer determine the direction for solid fill? It has been doing it on a 45 degree angle, but lately it's been alternating x direction and y direction. Also, Is there a way to do vase mode in Kisslicer so it spirals up the object? Thanks!by Happycamper - Tantillus
Thanks guys! I adjusted the retraction and the calculator and I've got the part to print. I think I need to adjust the suck and prime a little more, but these are by FAR the best I've gotten. Thanks!by Happycamper - Tantillus
Another good point. I think I might try turning it completely off just to see how it works out... I know it will be bad looking, but if it completes I'll know what to work on.by Happycamper - Tantillus
Good point. I have to say my prints have turned from pretty good to awesome (for me anyway). I have been following your advice and it has been excellent.by Happycamper - Tantillus
I currently have it the same. I'll take a look. Thanks for giving me a direction to head. It helps.by Happycamper - Tantillus
I am trying to print a fan mount. I keep having issues when it prints above the bolt holes. What are your thoughts on the cause of this? Even the one that worked on the fan part itself is very low quality on top, Thanks. The rest of the print seems fine. I must be missing something.by Happycamper - Tantillus
Dang Sublime! I'm assuming it's your tutorial on the tantillus.org site... I'm pretty new to 3D printing. I've been completely guessing and been able to get decent results. BUT, I keep getting clogs, underextrusion etc... I'm looking at your tutorial and calculator. VERY well done. I appreciate the effort you have made to create these things. I'm going to calibrate my printer using this iby Happycamper - Tantillus
QuoteRobonz In Kisslicer Ptr Gcode in Tab Prefix I have this and more. It is work in progress but I find I get pretty much 100% prints to start good doing this. ;move down first so dont drag accross clean table G1 Z5 ; move x,y to front middle of table and set feed rate to 6000 mm/min G1 X50 Y100 F6000 ; move to origin - home z axis G28 Z0.0 ;while at origin add bed offset - nozzle is too cby Happycamper - Tantillus
QuoteSublime No there is no way of making the skirt any more than 1. But you could add something to the start code. The easiest way to figure out the correct code would be to make a large cube the size of your bed and slice it with no infill, 0 skin, and 1 perimeter loop (or more if you think it needs it). Then open the gcode file and copy the first layer code to your start gcode (prefix). This wby Happycamper - Tantillus
I started using Slic3r as I just put together a printer over the holidays. I soon after tried Cura and never went back to Slic3r. BUT, I just tried Kisslicer. The quality was MUCH better. I am loving Kisslicer so far. One question... Is there any way to do like 3 passes of the skirt? My problem is the nozzle is never primed enough when it begins printing. With Cura I do 3 skirt passes aby Happycamper - Tantillus
TobinatorCO, Thanks for the reply. My understanding of the #define PROBE_SERVO_DEACTIVATION_DELAY 500 is this... It turns power on to the servo and after the delay of what is set such as 500, the power is turned off. Unless of course it is turned back on, it will stay on for the delay value. I initially had it set at the default which was 300 or 250, can't remember. The problem was it wasn'by Happycamper - General Mendel Topics
I have it set to 750 already. I have seen alot of videos online of people's servo shaking during printing and didn't want that. So shouldn't that be turning it completely off?by Happycamper - General Mendel Topics
Darn, just had the servo start moving on it's own again during a print. It wasn't moving like crazy like it was before the 7805, but it was every once in a while moving a little down. Probably 2-3 times a small amount. I don't understand why it would be getting any power during a print anyway...by Happycamper - General Mendel Topics
After adding the 7805 Regulator, I have printed numerous times and that problem has not shown up. Thanks guys!by Happycamper - General Mendel Topics
Just for a quick update... I happened to have a 7805 regulator sitting around the house. I wired it up like you guys said and it so far has worked without those problems! I will print some more to make sure it keeps working. Thanks!by Happycamper - General Mendel Topics
Help!! I got everything working perfectly! BUT... When I start a print it begins correctly and during the first layer, the probe tries to come down and hits the table! It seems to happen when running code. Any ideas?by Happycamper - General Mendel Topics
