It is worth looking through the small print, e.g. is delivery free throughout NZ. But yes, some times the stock has to come in from overseas. But I wasn't charged delivery when the thermistors came in from Sydney. It took a while as they lost track of the order in Auckland, but it was all resolved and I got the parts within 2 weeks Davidby davmj - New Zealand RepRap User Group
What size fender washers are you after? Davidby davmj - New Zealand RepRap User Group
I have seen it called studding as well in New Zealand. Davidby davmj - General
I also meant that steelmasters sold the metric measures as well Davidby davmj - General Mendel Topics
True, although 100 for $9.25 and no postage costs at the moment from RS isn't that bad a price. Mind you the implement workshop down the road from me might have some, they have got most things in there. (And I note these guys sell them as well) Davidby davmj - General Mendel Topics
Mitre10 calls them Fender washers, (when I picked up some M10 fenders for the workshop that I am putting together), but don't go down to M5 RS has some M5 Fender/Mudguard washers. |1||new_nz|1&Ne=4294960599&Nr=AND%28avl%3anz%2csearchDiscon_nz%3aN%29&N=4294689644+4294857610+4294572565&multiselectParam=4294689644%204294857610&selectAttribute=M5x20#breadCrumb Davidby davmj - General Mendel Topics
I would actually check to see if you have HardwareSerial.h on your system as that is a core part of the arduino environment. It looks like it is a corrupted environment. Davidby davmj - Reprappers
Thanks all, great discussion, still keeping my eye out for a suitable bargain. (The main issue tends to be be the cost of shipping ebay 'scope over seas to NZ, as not many scopes have appears on the NZ equivalent of ebay (which isn't used by the locals here as there is a cheaper alternative). Are you still using an old preferences file? Try moving the preferences file to a different location so it is not picked up by the application and see if the error still happens. Davidby davmj - RepRap Host
Okay, I thought I had it working, but with a quick test it seems to have failed on me. I suspect this is because I have focused on ensuring that the whole environment works with reprap host (which is does do), and until I actually have it printing well (currently not printing as waiting for bits for the extruder), then I have decided to stick with the reprap host at the moment. I know that this is a change of subject, but which windows VM are you using to using to run Alibre on. I have a short go with Virtual Box and windows XP to run a demo version of the latest version of Alibre but it would not display the graphics correctly on my system... (The 2D select would not work and it fell over when selecting 3D mode if I remember correctly). Any advice as it would save meby davmj - General
I got the latest version of ReplicatorG communicating with the Gen3 Techzone board (not the new board that they have but the one where the stepper drivers are separate. You need to select the experiemental boards and have it preloaded with the RepRap firmware. Seem to work find. Have not printed with it as I am still working on the extruder. Davidby davmj - General
Okay, I think you may have a possible software issue rather than just hardware problem. With your ardunio uploader have you included the sanguino elements as well in the correct place. When I did this I also found I had to change the board.txt file and make the following change dmj1@carterton:/usr/share/arduino/hardware/Sanguino$ diff boards.txt.bak boards.txt 4c4 < sanguino.upload.protocoby davmj - Reprappers
If using replicatorg with the reprap software you need to use a different driver and not the cupcake one. With replicator-22 you need to go to preferences, and select "Show experiemental machine profiles". You may need to restart the application at that point. Once you have done this you get a larger drop down menu in Machine->Driver, which is where you then select the 5D model. This is as fby davmj - General
I would read through this wiki page in detail: and ensure that all the modifications have been done. If it is still configured up to use an ATX power supply, it will not have some of the modifications done and as a result will not work with just the USB port plugged in. A simple check of the board should show that once the modifications are done and the ATX power socket has been removed fromby davmj - Reprappers
This is a good picture: Showing the delightful range of voltage in the various countries around the world. I have a different problem. NZ household sockets tend to be rated for 10 Amps where as UK sockets are 13 Amps which can effect the usage of some workshop tools and appliances, that I might have brought in to the countryby davmj - Reprappers
On the USB to TTL cable (i.e. not plugged on to the motherboard), are you getting a clean 5V between pin 1 and pin 3. This way you can check that the power supply you are providing is actually supplying any power before you advance to the next stage.by davmj - Reprappers
Why are you measuring the resistance? Measure the voltage at that pin. you need to get 5 volts to the relevant places. If you are providing 5 volts on the connection, and you have done the modification, than you should be detecting 5 volts at the correct places, then the power light should be coming on. If not, then there is a break in the connections some where. Likewise check all the places thby davmj - Reprappers
The current rule (as I read from www.customs.govt.nz), is that customs will not collect if the the total duty to be paid is less than $60NZD, but other wish the charges would be: 0% duty on the printer 15% GST $25.30 Import Handling fee (May be charged). $12.77 MAF clearence fee (So basically if it is worth less than $250NSD then you might not need to pay any fees). I would argue that Blender is missing a lot of stuff to be a good CAD package. (I love it as a modelling package, and for animation work etc). But from a cad point of view it is lacking features out of the box, and I have been using it as a CAD/Modelling package, but as you say, each to their own.by davmj - General
Not a problem: I am assuming you are using Unix/Linux here. (or else most of this will be useless). When you start the RepRap host software you use a script called reprap. If you are just typing reprap on the command line then type the following more `which reprap` (Note these are backticks and not the normal quotes). This should display the contents of the script and let you see where itby davmj - Reprappers
It is all to do with your java library path and your java classpath Look at the reprap script and see how the actual application is called. Mine pointed to a local version of RXTXcomm.jar but used the system jni library. Changing it to point to the system provided RXTXcomm.jar file (normally found in /usr/share/java) fixed the problem for me. The system jni file is located in /usr/lib/jni (Thiby davmj - Reprappers
What that means is that the Java Library that the host software is using is 1 version behind that actual Library it interfaces with. (This is the RXTX Java libraries for interfacing with various platforms). I think this will happen if using the host on ubuntu. (I will check my machine) and you use the RXTX Java library that is bundled with some an earlier version of the host software (Jonathan'sby davmj - Reprappers

Hi, I have a few STL files that I would like to convert to 2D views so that elements of them can go to a laser cutter. Any suggestions on the easiest way of doing this. What the error says is that there was a crash in an external library that the java code was calling. The crash was in this library nvoglnt.dll. Which is nothing to do with the Host software. I suspect that you have triggered somehow a bug in java and its interaction with this library Cheers Davidby davmj - RepRap Host
Well it looks like it is communicating but the line is getting corrupted. I would use a terminal program to connect to the printer and see what setting you need in order to get the comminucation flow to work rather than with the host software. That way you can double check what the host software might need to be setting. The comms code has not changed that much between versions as far as I canby davmj - RepRap Host
Hi, I have responded down in the host topic. Davidby davmj - General
I did have a problem, with the Host software that prevented it speaking to the software but it was unrelated to the firmware, but the USB setup time. (Fix was to change the host source code to pause for a 1 second after setting the board rate). MInd you I did not have the same problem with the firmware compile as you are reporting. Which part of the trunk did you get the firmware from? (I downloaby davmj - RepRap Host
