Hi Orca-freinds, I am running my Orca now since some years and have made several improvements to it: Better filament cooling, filament guide between nozzle and feeder unit, linear rails for x-axis, micrometer screw for bed leveling, housing for ABS printing and it got better and better each time. Though one thing really pulls me down every time I print something bigger. The heated bed has two veby NozzleMover - General Mendel Topics
I don’t really understand what you mean. All I can say is that the printer is running like a charm with the new firmware. Also very long print jobs of six hours and more run smoothly and the only errors that I get is when the nozzle is clogged or my filament gets too hot and is ground in the extruder. I have not seen a print failure due to a software issues since I updated.by NozzleMover - Sanguino(lolu)

Hello everyone! I am having an old Orcabot 0.42 with a generation 6 deluxe board. I managed to get the marlin 1.1.8 running stable on my board thanks to some other guys here. Now I want to use the printer for vinyl cutting and it seems the software wants to use arcs. I once enabled arcs in Marlin, but the file was too big for the ATMEL ATMEGA 644P. So I thought about getting rid of the boot loadby NozzleMover - General Mendel Topics
YES! Thank you! It was a size issue. Now it is working. I removed ARC support and it fits on the 644p!!by NozzleMover - Sanguino(lolu)

Hello again! I just looked up the file sizes: working hex-file 154KB verification error hex-file 164KB What realy bother me is that one file is working with avrdude and the other is not. Would it be worth a try to transfer the code with an ISP? I have a Arduino Nano on my desk, so not big trouble testing that? The ATmega644p has a cache of 64KB rigth? I looked on the chip and it sais 20AU 1048by NozzleMover - Sanguino(lolu)
I bought the one from ebay (link abouve in one of my posts) and it fits mechanically. 20°C seem to be fine but +240°C range is wrong. I need to set thermistor to 5 instead of the 3. Let's see if I get the new FW uploaded. I am still struggeling.by NozzleMover - Mendel90
They do match, and it is set to 0. I found this out today (avrdude verification fails):by NozzleMover - Sanguino(lolu)
Hi folks! I have the same issue here. I have a Sanguino gen6 delux board with an ATmegs644p 16Mhz on it. I downloaded the running FW 1.0.0 as hex file and put is aside. Then compiled a 1.1.8 version and tried to upload the hex file with AVRDUDE. It fails to varify. If I chose to upload the original FW 1.1.0 hex file all works well and the printer is working again. I am using Arduino IDE 1.8.12by NozzleMover - Sanguino(lolu)
O.K. I got the transfer to work with avrdude. The Orcabot (gen6 deluxe ATmega644p 16Hz) needs to be started freshly to accept a hex-file from avrdude. I used this command and AVRDUDE 6.3 (config file form etc-folder needed to be transferred to bin-folder): avrdude -c avrisp -b 38400 -i 10 -p m644p -P /dev/ttyUSB0 -F -U flash:r:factory_gen6.hex:i After compiling the 1.1.9 Marlin I took the hex-by NozzleMover - Sanguino(lolu)
Today I completed a Marlin 1.1.9 version with all the settings for my Orca. I set the Arduino to Sanguino and the processor to ATmega644P 16Hz. Done so, the compiling runs without errors. Before I send it through Arduino I made sure that I can upload the old backup-hex file and it worked like a charm. Sending it to the gen 6 deluxe board produce an error. avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer notby NozzleMover - Sanguino(lolu)
On the chip it said: ATMEL ATMEGA 644P 20AU 1048 So I go with 1.1.9, right?by NozzleMover - Firmware - Marlin
So one question here: If I want to use the current 2.0.4.4 with my 8 bit board I can do this and also keep using the Arduino software to upload, right? Is it worth a try when having an 8 year old Orcabot 0.43 with a gen 6 deluxe 8 bit board without bedleveling, fan support and all the fancy stuff or am I better off with the 1.1.9 version? Thanks for some advice.by NozzleMover - Firmware - Marlin
As some time has passed I finally managed to get the backup running. I need to do this now, because I have to install a new different thermistor. Question is now, should I try the newest FW 2.0.4.4? Has anyone successfully done it for a gen 6 deluxe board?by NozzleMover - Sanguino(lolu)
Thank you for the hint. I was not aware of that. Sorry. Can the thread be reassigned by you as admin to the right section? I will keep on reporting my progress. I just got a backup from my running gen 6 deluxe board and are now ready for updating my Firmware. I Ordered the new thermistor just minutes ago .by NozzleMover - Mendel90
Seems that I will buy the one from eBay, switch from 3 to 5 in Marlin and do an auto tune for the hotend to get good PID values. But nobody seem to care what is going on here anymore. At least that is my impression. But for me it’s a good log and perhaps some time someone finds it helpful.by NozzleMover - Mendel90
This one says I need to update the firmware: Do I just set it to 5 instead of 3 (was specified for Mendel parts) or do I need do do more, e.g. with the temperature table? Marlin Konfiguration: #TEMP_SENSOR_N 5 Temperature Table // 5 is ParCan supplied 104GT-2 100K // 5 is 100K thermistor - ATC Semitec 104GT-2 (4.7k pullup) // 8 is ATC Semitec 104GT-2by NozzleMover - Mendel90
Would this thing be a possible replacement: I was looking for a Mendel-part thermistor but that seems to bring to google hits.by NozzleMover - Mendel90
Hello folks! My temperature is behaving strange lately. During one print it jumped as you can see in the screenshot from octopi. When I touch the wires the temperature also jumps up to 30 degrees down. Additionally my printer started grinding the filament in the middle of the print, so I anticipated too low extrusion temperature. All in all I am wondering now if I should change my thermistor.by NozzleMover - Mendel90
Quoterotinaj13 Ok so I got over my fear of bricking the only controller for this printer and was finally able to get Marlin 1.1.8 on my GEN6 board. So as I am sure you have found out the GEN6 board has an older bootloader which is most likely from Arduino legacy days (00XX). Marlin 1.1.8 needs to be compiled in something newer than Arduino IDE 1.6.8. I downloaded Arduino IDE ... Did you back upby NozzleMover - Sanguino(lolu)

Thanks again. So my plan would than be the following: Back up the running firmware like described here: Use the M501 command to get most of the settings Donwload Marlin 1.1.8 and adapt it to my printer (incl. the fan support) Enabel additional features carefully, if at all See if it works (if not, re-install image of running firmware) The chip is the one from the Gen6 electronics, as far as Iby NozzleMover - Sanguino(lolu)
Thanks. That was a good hint. On the chip it reads: ATMEL ATMEGA 644P 20AU 1048 I don’t have an LCD installed and currently don’t use ABL or Software retraction. I guess too many of these kind of things can cause the problems. Only thing I have is a heated bed. The thing that I want to do is mainly enabling fan support like here unter “spare pin extension”: It would also be O.K. to know theby NozzleMover - Sanguino(lolu)
Hello everybody! Let’s give it a quick introduction: I am owner of an orcabot 0.43 since some weeks now. I made it work and print and also started modding it. Now I am at the point where I want to change some firmware settings. Unfortunately Igor the printer just as it is, no sifteare,, no docu and no one to ask. I did not find a single picture that matches my Bord. I guess it is a gen 6 electroby NozzleMover - Sanguino(lolu)
