I've been waiting at least 2 weeks for a reply to emails (sent both via the contact us page and via hotmail) I still haven't received one but then I thought I had made progress when I got an assurance on IRC on Monday. Five days on and my order is still shown on the website as processing despite it apparently being ready to send. I've also not received any refund for parts I requested to be deby m100 - General

I bought them from RS in the 10mm width (16mm split 3 ways was more expensive!) It worked out at just over GBP 19 per set - it wasn't worth ringing or driving round some of the industrial suppliers locally that might stock them cheaper with the state of weather here this past week. 474-5791 840mm £9.01 474-5836 990mm £10.37 474-5886 1380mm £13.38 all plus the dreaded vatby m100 - General Mendel Topics
I just realised my mistake. The holes on the L shaped outriggers on the y axis bearing carriers are for the bed and nothing to do with the mounting to the Y chassis. The four holes slightly inboard of this are for the chassis, when set to 157mm between the Y axis bars it then gives me the 187mm hole centres for mounting the Y chassis. It'd be a lot easier if I had all the bits to hand rather tby m100 - General Mendel Topics
Jigging dimension J3 on the spreadsheet at http://reprap.org/mediawiki/images/3/3e/Mendel-m4-assembly-data-sheet.odsindicates it should be 157mm measured between the inner edges of the Y axis bars. If I set this distance on the frame then the M8 nuts are very close together next to the feet, as per the isometric CAD views and the outer mounting holes in the y bearing plastics for fitting the y cby m100 - General Mendel Topics
Next time I have a belt to split I'll take some photos and update the wiki I always use safety goggles when using my lathe too but despite taking great care with other DIY activities I've had drills, screws and splinters in my fingers over the years and they hurt like hell. The the point I was trying to make was that by using a bare blade you are exposing yourself to an unnecessary hazard whichby m100 - General Mendel Topics
Maybe I'm missing the really, really obvious here but the belt splitter page at http://reprap.org/wiki/Belt_splitter_jig talks about wearing leather gloves to prevent cuts from the blade...but WHY use a bare blade in the first place? I just left the blade in a properly designed handle and cut my belts in literally minutes with the jig sat on my kitchen worktop, one hand holding the jig and bladeby m100 - General Mendel Topics

Still no indication of the precise delays to orders. With a backlog of "41" complete kits (not that that is what I ordered) it can only be assumed to be huge. If so then FFS stby m100 - General
Import them into a drawing program and the dimensions will become obvious. Something like Solid Edge is free.by m100 - General
Thanks nophead, the deformation needed to get a suitable clearance seemed quite high and I was afraid of cracking the plastic either immediately or having a creep problem and failure at a later date. After a lot of faffing about I managed to get the design size of the posts from the bottom / top face (these seem a bit undersized but I put that down to the import / conversion process) and then mby m100 - General
The carriage isn't on the machine just yet. I'm test fitting with a single short length of rod and the slop is such that there appears to be close to zero possibility of the carriage being guided properly, for instance I can easily fit a 0.7mm feeler gauge either in the horizontal or vertical in between the bearing the the rod at the front of the carriage. On the Y axis bearings I can very easiby m100 - General
I am just assembling a Mendel X Axis carriage (using using nophead supplied plastics which appear to be well made) and I've hit a snag. Where the two groups of triple bearings are fitted I get an ok fit such that two out of three bearings contact the 8mm shaft but it's not great and the lower bearings are essentially doing nothing On the side with the two pairs of bearings I've got a 9.16mm andby m100 - General
I guess order number 564 is going to take some time. Pity the blog doesn't give regular updates so we know how long the wait will be.by m100 - General
