Lots of people start out using ATX PSU BUT some have issues of not giving true 12V unless the 5V line or 3.3V lines are under a small load and you end up messing with resistors. really to be true and proper not to mention a hell of a lot safer and cleaner. Get a 12V 20A PSU from Ebay/amazon. There around the same price as a ATX PSU anyway. Just you have to buy the running wire (thats the ACby Enlightx - General
Just and update it think i may have solved the problem Just stripped extruder down and tried turning the large cog freehand and noticed it would bind at some point. Stripped down the M5 rod which the I3EXT uses and looks like the grub screw of the Mk7 gear had ripped the m5 rod apart. also the M5 rod felt slightly bent. Luckily i thought using M5 rod was a bit silly so i had already orderd somby Enlightx - General
Video of me pushing PLA let me know if you guys think this is normal http://youtu.be/ZcDpW21xK74by Enlightx - General
I think something strange is going on. Like i said this problem has only happened past few days. Iv taken the hotend out of extruder and tried to push by hand. Very hard. Also tried with J-Head i got same problem :| iv checked and im using temp table 1 which is correct. any know of a video showing how easy it should be to push PLA through a hotend ?by Enlightx - General
Not sure on the pololu driver number its round half a year old Hotend is currently e3d v4 ( yes I have fan running) I'll try and get a video tonight showing the problemby Enlightx - General
Hi Guys started having an extruder issue the past couple of days. I Started using the I3EXT extruder (uses a MK7 gear) with Zapp SY42STH47-1684A i dont think its related to using this extruder more that this extruder just takes a bit more torque then gregs extruder. Iv always had issues on and off with extruders but always put it down to the hobbed bolt. Problem im having is on a lengthy exby Enlightx - General
Just placed my order Nice to see a uk hot endby Enlightx - General
tried everything i can think of now. tried slower speed and fan no difference. Any one else using the MGS with PLA and a fan? any chance someone can print the attached file im using and take a pic as its printing the bridge layer? prove its not my fileby Enlightx - General
Ignore the last request File does not have enough room for the bridge to cross over so does not touch. I forgot when briding happens it gives around a 1 - 2 mm over hand of the hole so it has something to stick too.by Enlightx - General
Can some one try printing the STL i attached above and keep and eye on the 1st bridging layer. just incase its its the file as i have no idea why this is happening nowby Enlightx - General
got rafts and various other new features Will give us all UK reprapers something to play with over the bank holiday http://slic3r.org/releases/0.9.9by Enlightx - General
Pic attached of my lm8uu bearings attached using zip ties. i use oversized m10 washers to help get an even better grip on the frame. as you can see even with less room cable ties still do not hit if you have to tag on the top.by Enlightx - General
Looks like i might of found my problem (see attached pic) designed a little stl to test the problem and created gcode in slicer for fan speeds at 50% 40% 30% looking at it while its printing the bridges are not touching the one side of the bridge so that side wells up and then passes it on across the bridges next line. does any one know if this is a known slicer bug?by Enlightx - General
currently using an MGS extruder. waiting for the github to be cleaned up so prusa can release the Nema17 compact extruder. not had any problems with ghosting with my woodebox i3 or my single plate i3. got any pics of this ghosting ?by Enlightx - General
i just put the tag end of the cable tye on the top you have room there anyway because the heated bed is lifted up on m3 screws ill try take a pic laterby Enlightx - General
can i get some advise on PLA bridges that are playing me up rotten. I was getting dropping down of bridges. So i added some fans etc. Now it seems its as if the fans are too much even though iv tried them as low as 80%. When i print the pla seems to go down okay Next line then pulls upwards then the same happens on the next line. Untill the bridge is pulled upwards around 1 mm then it bands thby Enlightx - General
Hi im using a alu frame i3 using cable ties not a problem they dont catch at all. i tried for around a week to design a bearing holder but not possible with how tight the gap is. but after running this printer now for over a month iv not had a single problem with zip ties compared with printing bearing holders.by Enlightx - General
im in the middle of testing 4mm tubing on my i3 vs cooper compression couplers. From what iv seen so far i think the tubing might be better giving the Z a bit of giveby Enlightx - General
I was looking into a tumbler for polishing PLA Parts to see how it would work etc. watching some tumbler video i forgot about when they were shouting the world NOW JUST LEAVE THIS RUNNING FOR 2 WEEKS over the loud machine. not sure if thats true and i dare say PLA would polish much quicker then stones etc but still i would say a long time. would be interested in seeing the results if any one kby Enlightx - General
Not to worry you but those holes look a little big for tapping? Pic of Mineby Enlightx - General
just to mention it could be temp table are wrong and your filament it not melting enough so its harder to push down. also i had the exact same problem with my 1st 3d printer build for months and months. turns out it was the extruder i had had printed ! when i printed my own out (gregs)it got a lot better now i have no problems at all. i was the same back in the day i used to print everything atby Enlightx - General
not sure about those motors no mention of torque on them and are very cheap. i have had zapp creatives in the past but i normally use Emaker shop Think3dPrint3d Guys name is roland very helpfull drop him an email. dont know if it will help This is the frame im using made by prusa distributed by reprap source. in regards to the motors pulling the plasic down if you have 50% + infill youby Enlightx - General
Iv used various normal Nema17 sizes for my i3 wooden, aluframe and mini i3 But to note that it is normal and correct for them to not touch the table. I did run into trouble with my mini i3 with stepper motors being too long. Turned out it was problem with my printed parts. I disabled turn off Z stepper while not in use in the firmware and the parts printed correct again.by Enlightx - General
you have D1 and D2 the correct way round yeah ?by Enlightx - General
yeah blow torch untill a nice silly hot then turn up side down to get it out. iv heard people say throw in some water to make the plastic cool quickly but i wouldnt do it . whatever you do when you reassemble your j-head do not put much presure when tighnting up to the peek or this will happen http://t.co/xnPuy95G or in my case happen twiceby Enlightx - General
I'm in the uk Got mine from reprap source in Germany Carriage was cheap and fast for the weight and packaging Add the fact he gets the frames from jo prusa direct and you cannot go wrong All the outer edges are beveled and holes tappedby Enlightx - General Mendel Topics
Doe you run this extruder on any type or normal reprap carriage? i have mine just sitting on a self with the other not working in a box i found that its near impossible to easily mount it to a moving X Carriageby Enlightx - General
Bit of an update as iv been playing with this this morning. It seems mirroring the prints alters the centre of balance a bit so not a good idea to carry on with. I think best bet is to make the X Carriage deeper. As the source files are not knocking about ill try making a addon plate and see if that makes it better. will post pics of resultsby Enlightx - General
i have not finished my alu frame i3 yet but with the Y axis attached it does not wobble or move ! the M10 rods on the Y axis help for a lot fo this . I do have a wooden box i3 iv been using for the past 2 month and the extruder can bounce quite easy due to it being MDF frame.by Enlightx - General
Hi Guys just taken some pics of the mirroed parts fit on the machine Mirror parts Can any one see a dissadvantage to this ? sure i have to make my Y rods 2 inch longer but worth it for the extra X axis i even think it looks cleaner not seeing the split in the lm8uu holders?by Enlightx - General
