working on that table Marcus made - I hadn't realized this problem but it's a good point - I'm filling in what I know.by theOtherRob - General Mendel Topics
Some of my suppliers used in making Mendel: * http://www.fastenal.com/web/home.ex - screws, nuts, washers and threaded rod.. ordering online didn't work for me but they have stores in Toronto that are open to the public 9-5. They can get stuff here from the warehouse in 2-3 days and shipping is 5%, this is what i had to do for all the metric parts. * sparkfun.com - thermocouples come from here aby theOtherRob - Canada, Toronto RepRap User Group
didn't check this thread for a while (following it now), my Mendel is almost complete now and the HackLab's makerbot is almost sorta working reliably. In response to comments: QuoteHacklab. To I am in love with your laser cutter. Me too, Jed's the man when it comes to cnc hacks QuoteAdam.M.NelsonWhat do you guys do at your 'unpatched tuesdays'? for initial prototyping RoboRealm is still good since it's drag and drop with zero learning curve (even though now you only get a 30 day trial).. 30 days sucks but is probably enough to test out a few algorithms on real-world video from the reprap without having to go to all the trouble of implementing each algorithm on the arduino. Once we know which algorithms we need we can replicate them inby theOtherRob - Pick-and-Place Electronic Assembly (and robots!)
np Gene Hacker. if you want a cheap camera which we can work with from the extruder board perhaps one of these would be a good option: (some of those have more docs then others.. has anyone here messed around with any of these yet?) OpenCV is good for intel x86, but the level of CV we would need would probably not IMHO require a 10th of it's potential power. Has anyone seen any arduino based cby theOtherRob - Pick-and-Place Electronic Assembly (and robots!)
I've added the random page back in now that we have more room in the sidebar.by theOtherRob - Administration, Announcements, Policy
I can't wait to see this tried out! Thanks for the heads up Sebastien - I've added this to the wiki:by theOtherRob - Pick-and-Place Electronic Assembly (and robots!)
also for those confused by 2 messages about development pages by both myself and Sebastien, the one I posted above is specific to Trystanlea's work - eventually pages like this should be created for each individual's repstrap project (feel free to do so yourself! instructions are in the wiki).by theOtherRob - General Mendel Topics
Hi Trystanlea, Awesome work on the wooden Mendel! I've created a Development page for you on the new wiki - if you link to your stuff or even better post it there that would be very helpful for Sebastien and I who are trying to make it a central point to easily access any and all Rep Rap related development. Your Wooden Menden Development Page: http://objects.reprap.org/wiki/Development:Trystanby theOtherRob - General Mendel Topics
Added a stub for this to the wiki, I'm sure Swighton and his accomplices can provide more details Metal Mendel Wiki Stub: http://objects.reprap.org/wiki/Development:Metal_Mendel Edit: erm actually Sebastien added that page but I figured i'd post a link anywaysby theOtherRob - General Mendel Topics
what they said. Documentation sucks - I spent many days finding all the info i needed for Mendel, Darwin is supposedly much worse. If you want to help fix the mess everything is being ported to the media wiki which anyone can help with and organize in a intuitive and useful way. Until the day when proper documentation exists just use the irc channel for quick info since lots of people in there hby theOtherRob - Administration, Announcements, Policy
Hi CommanderWiggles, We are still in the intial phases of this project and have not yet entered production yet. I will contact you when we are ready to start shipping RR parts kits.by theOtherRob - Wanted
> ./hello_world My name is Rob and I am building my first Mendel at Hacklab.TO. I am also upgrading the Hacklab's cupcake CNC with a heated build platform and themocouple.by theOtherRob - Canada, London RUG
haha, I'm printing my parts as fast as I can I'll make sure to post back here when we start to get closer to production. On a technical note: I'm going to install heated build platforms on my mendels since I've noticed warping is a large problem on the CupCake CNC so the parts produced should be of a better quality then those produced without a heater (I'm also retrofitting the CupCake CNC sinby theOtherRob - Wanted
There have been definite set backs in getting the first mendel online. The machine shop access we had planned to make use of is no longer available so for the time being things are progressing at a snails pace using a Cupcake CNC and laser cutter. The plan remains to bring a factory style operation online but there's no longer a clear time line for when we'll be ready. Sorry guys, hopefully youby theOtherRob - Wanted
Sounds like a good plan for a UK factory. In North America there are 2 groups trying similar things that I am aware of (I am working with a small group on the start of one and Benbo's group appears to be starting a second presumably competing factory-like operation). 75 pounds (~125 USD) sounds like a good price to cover costs + expand the factory. Best of luck, Robby theOtherRob - For Sale
I've added you both to the waiting list. I will PM you when I have an update on pricing/availability.by theOtherRob - Wanted
I am working on a similar idea with some friends. Its still early but if there is an interest I could compile a waiting list. We will have 3 mendel rep raps coming online to print these in the near future starting with mine which is slated to finish construction/begin printing within the next 2 weeks. Production would probably begin in three weeks given we will need time to print the other 2 mendby theOtherRob - Wanted
