have you re-sliced the object?. just sometimes slicers will import things but not necessarily flat on the bed, easy to check open the g code file in word or something and look to where the Z hight starts printing. being a dual nozzle set up have you got the offset right for the extruder you printing with?.by jinx - General
want the seller or kit maker know?. I ask because they have the exact files/setting you need. other than that Marlin "wiki mk base mentions the use of marlin. configuring daunting at first, straight forward enough, within marlin you need to change a few setting in the config.h to match your machine " a few he says".by jinx - General
don't know which cad you using but cant it join the two objects together?. you thought of using netfabb basic am 5050 if it will work but am learning toward "it will", just import, press the red cross to auto fix. then export the repaired model into your slicer. should be a single object then.by jinx - General
it's not to clear to my tiring eyes, I see the fan but is there a shroud to direct the air flow, like e3dby jinx - Delta Machines
Quote it's the tape sticking to the bed that is the problem. lol I thought it was the print lifting looking back at the pic not all the strips bubbles up? tried replacing just those strips fold them around the edges of the bed, take a spare bit of tape try and transfer some of the tacky stuff by dabbing it? then lay down a fresh strip.. about all i can think off. does the tape itself come witby jinx - General Mendel Topics
Quotegg If someone at a 3d printers fair ask you what that fan is for, that's a fair question to be asked at a faire, and my reply would be to prevent overhangs from curling, along with cooling the last layer so the next aint laying down on molten plastic especially useful for speed printing. but this aint a faire it's the reprap forums with over eight years of achieved R&D. for all to readby jinx - General
I disagree no harm putting in the research, then coming back with an informed question that leads to a more specific detailed explanations . you can hand someone the answer quite easily , but it possible the person get the answer without understanding it, and the process that got to the answer and over looks some earlier stage that leads to burning down the house!.by jinx - General
I've always had trouble with prints lifting on a cold bed with PLA, and PLA doesn't hold for long an a heated bare aluminium, but apply some glue stick it will. but for what you have at hand leave the tape on and turn the bed up to 55 C should be fine.by jinx - General Mendel Topics
ello, Odd you using painters tape with a heated bed, folks generally used painters tape on a cold bed. but the 45 C is to low for PLA, you want it between 55-60 C. kapton tape for PLA, but my best result for bed adhesion been the use of "prit stick" although it got a tendency to discolour the first layer but sticks great.by jinx - General Mendel Topics
frog legs so what about the part curling, strikes any time the cooling coming on early, can work against you here with it being a small part.by jinx - General
Quotegg Try bed at 70, that's way to high for PLA, 55-60 C for PLA works well and want leave an elephant foot on the print .it should have stuck with the glue stick. is there another cooling fan somewhere which is blowing on that side of the bed, is the first layer going down even, with a good adhesion to the bed the thermistor setting correct in F/ware, what brand of PLA you using. if using marlin have a peek configuration Adv.h there's a nice little feature to control the hotend fan. // Extruder cooling fans // Configure fan pin outputs to automatically turn on/off when the associated // extruder temperature is above/below EXTRUDER_AUTO_FAN_TEMPERATURE. // Multiple extruders can be assigned to the same pin in which case // the fan will turn on when any selected extruderby jinx - General Mendel Topics
ello, QuoteGregs Wades extruder with a genuine j head Mk V BV hot end. It's a great combo.I've been using them for years Just to echo shank man that set up served me well in the past direct extruder , not seeing your set up here a carriage to upgrade too. . that said I have wickedly good time with a bowden setup, using a nema geared stepper and modified B'studerby jinx - General Mendel Topics
ello WZ Quotesimilar Arts & Crafts store the sad truth is those places are rare sight in the UK nowa days, but I've seen some 5 mm cork sheets am gonna try and stack under/reduce the air gab between the the heat bed. there is one benefit to using the pin board, its thickness is just about right to sit on top of the steppers and fill the space between the triaby jinx - Delta Machines
ello chris May I suggest you grab some 6 mm heat shrink 1.5 mtr, it fits and stays in the aluminium profiles gaps nicely and does a great job hiding the endstop wires.by jinx - Delta Machines

ello Am having a bit of show'n tell, been collecting parts almost five months and now am at the calibration time "let the good times roll. used a pin board for kind of heat shield, discovered there's only a slither of cork actually on a cork pin board those stepper may come off for some cork pads. most of the parts came from ali express, the MGN rails was a pleasant surpby jinx - Delta Machines
QuoteDC42 Tinning the wire ends is bad advice and more or less guaranteed to cause problems. cant say I had/have any issue with tinning the ends, but I aint using massive amounts of solder either, still their no excuse for not doing a proper job either which ferrules would you suggest for those ramps connector.by jinx - General
ello pixel, get a multimeter its handy to have around, It could well be just a bad wiring moment , do you have a soldering iron, tin the ends of the wires, stop any stray threads. another culprit is the heatbed PID enabled but not configured.by jinx - General

ello Techytom welcome to the reprap Quoterecommended height settings for the print bed so long as its levelled you fine. has the bed got springs I'll tighten it down so it doesn't wobble while printing but lose enough that if the z axis/nozzle crashes into the bed you got time to react and switch off before any real damage. what you should experiment with is layer hby jinx - General Mendel Topics

I think the china involvement reprap been both positive and negative, from a builders view they brought down the cost of an entry reprap, preventing it from becoming a elitist hobby which only the wealthy can enjoy while those kits maybe substandard, I have/had no issue encouraging others to upgrade to better parts once they're bitten by the bug. NEMA 42, like to see them in action!!. but I suspect these are an aliexpress hybrid stepper which the Chinese describes as nema 42, which is reference to the dimensions 42 mm sq which can be either a nema 14 or a more common reference to nema 17. In my experience there's no need for steppers or drivers to get overly hot. sinner have you read stepper calibration caution and a steady handby jinx - General
hi Mlaustin not to pick but what you calling a resistor is actually a MOSFET in the picture. I notice you used black and red wires but the black connected the positive output, unlike the Hotend I dont think its critical to have PID running on the Bed.by jinx - General Mendel Topics
