A heated bed that size would require massive amounts of power to reach a usable temperature. Also printing parts that sort of size would take forever and have a good chance of failing.by lazzymonk - General
I think safety would be the big problem doing that. There are many mains voltage heaters available which can then be controlled by an ssr. I would start there.by lazzymonk - General
Can you post a picture of your wiring. That sound like you have the supply reversed.by lazzymonk - RAMPS Electronics
magnetic end stops are good too.by lazzymonk - General Mendel Topics
You only really need 3 end stops, the arduino mega 2560 is the only real option with ramps. You will also need a power supply (12v 30amp is a popular choice) Hot end Heated bed Thermistors for the above 2 Fans. One to cool hot end, one to cool prints and one to cool drivers. Cables, make sure they can handle the current. Connectors to attach cables to ramps. I'm sure there are more but I hope tby lazzymonk - General Mendel Topics
which board to you have selected in the firmware?by lazzymonk - RAMPS Electronics
There should be an led on the ramps behind the mosfet that lights up when the bed is active. Is it coming on?by lazzymonk - RAMPS Electronics
I have looked alot for something like this. I can not find herringbone bevel gears. I cant even find an openscad bevel gear to try and edit my selfby lazzymonk - General
Anyone capable and willing do design something like this? I think it would be good for an extruder. to make it more compact but still good gearing. its fromby lazzymonk - General
its a very small object to print. Do you have the same problem printing larger items? Do you have a cooling fan? PLA is very sensitive to heat. Idealy the previous layer wants to be cool before printing the next or it just pushes its self about.by lazzymonk - General
Solid state relays work well for heated beds. You can then use an completely separate power supply. I use You just need to connect the relay input to the bed output on your board. Then the heat bed to the power supply through the relay.by lazzymonk - Controllers
Josef Pursa has a good calculator that will get you close. There will always be a need to measure and tweek a bit though. For me, in theory my x and y should be 80 steps per mm but i need 79.9 to get perfect measurementsby lazzymonk - General Mendel Topics
a simple soultion would be to add more solid top layers. But to properly fix it I think you want to look at calibrating your extruder a bit more.by lazzymonk - Reprappers
They do look good. I have seen them on ebay for a while now. My only concern would be speed. Can you really spin a what looks like nema14 motor geared 1:19 fast enough to feed at a decent rate?by lazzymonk - General
I find that when buying from printer parts from eBay checking feedback is key. Look for 99.8% or better. Look at any negative comments. Avoid new sellers or sellers with less than a few thousand feedbacks. If buying from china only buy cheap bits unless they are sending via some insured means. I've been doing it this way for years and never been stung. Had some junk but it's always been replacedby lazzymonk - Reprappers
Sanguinololu is an all in one controller similar in many ways to a Melzi board Arduino is a programmable developement board, but is no good for controlling a printer by its self. RAMPS is a board that connections to an Arduino to make it usable for controlling a printer. Its very popular, easy to use and well documented. Both Sanguinololu and RAMPS + Arduino use plug in stepper drivers. So if yoby lazzymonk - General Mendel Topics
sound like they are trying to go too fast. Try and reduce the feed rate from 5mm/sec to say 0.5mm/sec. if that works, keep increasing until it stops again.by lazzymonk - General Mendel Topics
It looks to me like something is binding.by lazzymonk - General Mendel Topics
Have you tried a new usb cable? Edit: dave3d beat me to itby lazzymonk - Reprappers
That is a very popular choice and should work well,by lazzymonk - Reprappers
As you say you are using the 5vsb from the atx supply, have you removed the D1 diode that runs under the x and y drivers? It feeds 12v to the Arduino voltage regulator. Having the diode in and supplying 5v can cause odd things to happen. Also I found that you sometimes need a resistor between the green wire and the ramps power pin. I used a 4k7 if I remember correctly. It was very difficult to rby lazzymonk - Reprappers
It's a long shot but if it was a tight fit in the hole could the expansion of the metal crushed it? I know the expansion would be small. I'm sure someone will tell me it's not possible, but just an idea.by lazzymonk - Reprappers
Do you have the D2 (I think) diode installed? It's the one under one of the steeper drivers. It feeds oped from the psu through the arduino voltage regulator. If you do, you could try removing it. Before you do though you could try and check if the 5v pins on the ramps have 5v not something else. If it's not 5v it will likely confuse the laptop usb forcing it to shutdown.by lazzymonk - RAMPS Electronics
You can use it for what ever you like if it meets your requirementsby lazzymonk - General
Last time i did this I used a steel rod just smaller than the outside of the ptfe and just pushed it out. Was a snug fit but came out easily. Putting a new one is just the reverse.by lazzymonk - General
looks like it is missing steps. Are your drivers getting hot? if so they are likely over heating. turn the current down. If they are not hot then maybe there isnt enough current. Try turning up the current.by lazzymonk - General
I would check voltages when this happens. Is there 12v at the main power connector? is there 12v at the hot end terminal? if so then the connection between the wire and the resistor could have come loose resulting in an intermittent connection. Have you checked that?by lazzymonk - RAMPS Electronics
I mainly print more parts for my printer. Not replacements, just addons lolby lazzymonk - General
The amazon ones would be compatable with one another. the reprap discount stuff is good. ice never heard a bad report about them. If buying from them via eBay they ship using FedEx. When I ordered from them it took 3 days. I've known it take longer ordering locally. I assume the same can be said of ther web shop.by lazzymonk - RAMPS Electronics
Can you post a link to the item you are looking at? Many people use the reprapdiscount kits available on ebay and from there online shop. I think they are the people that designed one of the most common lcd units used.by lazzymonk - RAMPS Electronics
