I double checked my clearance and it was fine, plus I didn't move the printer. Nothing changed from one print to the next other than a full day of no use and as mentioned the cold weather.by vetteguy112233 - General Mendel Topics
Hopefully tomorrow I can round up a small space heater to see if that helps, but all the extra power being used by the printer and running a space heater all winter is going to raise my power bill through the roof.by vetteguy112233 - General Mendel Topics
Makerfarm, Prusa I3, ABS 3mm, .050 head, 8" heated bed, Ramps 1.4 Today it snowed and my first print of the day kept curling up and was a total failure. I tried again and had the same problem. I thought maybe it was my filament, so I switched and had the same problem. I then cleaned my heat bed which is covered by a layer of glass. It's been about 2 weeks since it's been cleaned and I've appliedby vetteguy112233 - General Mendel Topics
Can you recommend and guides or videos for learning it?by vetteguy112233 - General Mendel Topics
I'm still learning Slic3r and with each post and problem I learn more and more. I found the "skirt" section you were talking about and will play around with that. THANKS!by vetteguy112233 - General Mendel Topics
I start at 10mm so I can get a pair of needle nose pliers in to remove the oozed plastic before it starts. All of my prints do the little outline before starting the print job and usually what's left after I remove it at the 10mm height will get taken off in the outline, but not always.by vetteguy112233 - General Mendel Topics
I've been dealing with it and figured I would ask you guys what you do about this situation. My Makerfarm I3 8" 3mm ABS with .50mm print head oozes plastic when its up to temp. I've been taking it 10mm above the heated bed, warming the bed to about 100c and then turning on the print head, usually they end up to temp at about the same time, but the print head oozes plastic which on occasion has mby vetteguy112233 - General Mendel Topics
If I get the exact same one that I currently have, wouldn't that be best?by vetteguy112233 - General Mendel Topics
Here is the info I found for anyone interested. Hopefully all the links work. Original thread: Instructable from the same guy: 3D printed pieces:by vetteguy112233 - General Mendel Topics
I've contacted Colin from Makerfarm and he assures me he's working on a dual extruder upgrade for my printer but there's no ETA. I found the thread where a guy converted his to a dual head extruder (the same one you can print from thingiverse) and emailed the info to Colin. he says it should work as long as it will fit my frame. I might lose a little height but I think it would be worth it. I'm tby vetteguy112233 - General Mendel Topics
Not really, but it works and the guy gave me 2 for the price of one since all the discarded pieces basically equaled one total piece anyway.by vetteguy112233 - General Mendel Topics
LOL, it was short and uneventful. Nobody really wants to let a stranger roam through their house (especially one that open carries a gun). He had my kit ready to go, answered some questions I had, showed me some of the things he had printed and I was on my way. I still had to stop by Walmart for the hairspray and Lowes for the glass. All I could think about was getting started on the build!by vetteguy112233 - General Mendel Topics
I figured right now that would be my only option. Currently I've only been using Sketchup and I've modified several files for better printing, so I guess I'll play around with that. I've seen others that have printed ABS magazines and got them to work. I have no plans on selling them, I just want to have this capability and turn out a functioning product. Maybe someday even try an AR lower.by vetteguy112233 - General Mendel Topics
I bought my Makerfarm 8" I3 kit in hopes of making AR15 magazines. I've since realized that I can't do what I want, due to the plastic sagging in areas without support. I can rotate the magazine so that it is standing up and possibly get it to print that way, but I worry that it's going to warp from being so tall. I thought printing it laying down would be best and had modified one drawing so thaby vetteguy112233 - General Mendel Topics
I recently purchased my 8:" I3 from Makerfarm as well. Luckily enough I live in Utah and was able to drive to his house to pick it up. Colin is a super nice guy, very knowledgeable and always willing to help. I've printed all kinds of things and so far am very very happy with the kit.by vetteguy112233 - General Mendel Topics
Unacceptable...that's not what I wanted to hear, even though you are probably correct. Thanks for the info!by vetteguy112233 - General Mendel Topics
I've had my Makerfarm I3 8" RAMPS .50mm head...for about 2 weeks now and love it, but I'm starting to realize that I need a dual extruder setup so I can print support material. I've emailed Colin at Makerfarm and he says he working on one, but not idea when it will be ready. Has anyone done this, can it be done with my setup? Any info would be much appreciated.by vetteguy112233 - General Mendel Topics
What about the picture link I provided. I've printed many things that seem to have these imperfections. I don't know if it's air absorbed into the ABS plastic or what, but I need to see if it's something I can fix. I just want to see a perfectly printed project.by vetteguy112233 - General Mendel Topics
Great info, thanks!by vetteguy112233 - General Mendel Topics
As for splitting images, I think I've figured it out. I use Sketchup, so I opened the file, ungrouped everything, selected the piece I wanted (making sure to get everything), created a new Sketchup document and pasted it into there. I then exported it as an STL file (in mm because for some reason INCHES didn't work???) which I opened in Netfab, corrected all errors and saved again. Then on to Sliby vetteguy112233 - General Mendel Topics
Also this particular print had 4 pieces that it printed all at once and I noticed that when going from one part to the next it would leave strings of plastic. on this particular print it really shows up, when you snap them off at the end. I'm guessing maybe printing the parts separately is the only way to avoid this? Which brings me to my next question, how do I print items separately when thereby vetteguy112233 - General Mendel Topics
Sorry it's taken so long, here is a link to a close up of a bunch of abnormalities. I printed another one and it has the same abnormalities in the same spots so obviously it's in the software. How do I go about checking future STL files for issues like this and most importantly how do I fix it? The second one I ran through netfab and fixed errors, but it actually made the second one worse, nearby vetteguy112233 - General Mendel Topics
A few days ago I finished building my makerfarm i3 8" kit. I've printed several things and so far I'm happy, but there are a few little issues I need help with. My kit has a.50mm head, ramps and am printing 3mm abs. On several of my prints there are random abnormalities in some of the layers. I can't attach a picture because it's to large, but hopefully somebody knows what I mean. Is it normal toby vetteguy112233 - General Mendel Topics
