In Marlin if the DEFAULT_MAX_FEEDRATE for the Z axis is 5 try change it to 1 or 2 Steveby SteveRoy - Reprappers
QuoteBen.folkes How would I use a multimeter to check this? Undo the leads off D8 and measure across them with the multimeter set to ohms (on a low setting). As to changing the mosfets on the old RAMPS, sure I think it's worth a try, though from experience they are hard to remove cleanly. Steveby SteveRoy - Reprappers
QuoteBen.folkes Thanks, I've just ordered a new mosfet and heatsink. I might have to get a new ramps as I made a mess with the soldering iron when removing the old one so I don't know if the terminals will be ok. Could there be a short in my heatbed or will it just be cheap mosfets? Probably cheap mosfets. I have found some RAMPS are better than others when buying from China suppliers. Also with a M119 showing the endstops triggered you probably need to change the logic of them in Marlin: A normally open (NO) switch set to true a normally closed (NC) set to false const bool X_ENDSTOPS_INVERTING = true; // set to true to invert the logic of the endstops. const bool Y_ENDSTOPS_INVERTING = true; // set to true to invert the logic of the endstops. const bool Z_ENDSTOPS_INVERTING =by SteveRoy - General
See my previous post on a Prusa i3 setup Also endstop setup here: Steveby SteveRoy - General
Shouldn't the MAX endstops be: // ENDSTOP SETTINGS: // Sets direction of endstops when homing; 1=MAX, -1=MIN #define X_HOME_DIR 1 #define Y_HOME_DIR 1 #define Z_HOME_DIR 1by SteveRoy - RAMPS Electronics

QuoteJSR82 I just finished building my kit today. I couldn't figure out a better way to mount the Y endstop. So, I put it at the back right corner which seemed like the best place for it so as not to lose build volume. The problem I am having with the printer is when I try to manually home the Y axis it moves a tiny bit towards the back but never goes farther than that. Quotebergerab Just as an update, I've ordered all new hardware for my Rework extruder. I should get it by Wednesday. I'll update this post once I test with the new hardware to see if this resolved my issue. What did you order? Steveby SteveRoy - Reprappers
Quotebergerab Do you think you could take a look at my acceleration/jerk/feedrates and judge if they are a little too high/low? I couldn't find any good guides to fine tune those values in the firmware. I use: #define DEFAULT_AXIS_STEPS_PER_UNIT {80,80,4000,473} #define DEFAULT_MAX_FEEDRATE {500, 500, 1, 25} #define DEFAULT_MAX_ACCELERATION {9000,9000,100,10000} #define DEFAULTby SteveRoy - Reprappers
Quotebergerab Yes I've always used one screw just because long M3 screws are hard to find around me. I'll order some online, but for now I just added a zip-tie keeping the other side tight. Look at your local hardware store for "drywall butterfly screws" Almost same size as an m3 but 4" long and imperial thread. I just break the butterflys off and use the nut, though you could find a bigger/beby SteveRoy - Reprappers
In Marlin you need to set your X endstop to a MAX end stop, change the -1 to a 1 You also need to adjust the pots on the stepper drivers if the motors aren't moving. An axis may only move in 1 direction until you home that axis - as it doesn't know how far it can travel without homing first. Also see a previous post I made re: enstops etc Hope this helps Steveby SteveRoy - Printing
QuotePedroB Obviously not a showstopper but i am playing around with g-godes and wanting to set up custom buttoms in Pronterface. M107 should turn off extruder fan but dosen't. Any advice? Thanks, Peter M107 will turn off the print fan on D9. The extruder fan as shown in your image is 12v always on.by SteveRoy - Reprappers
In pronterface if you press X + the carriage should go to the right. If the X endstop is on the right side it is a MAX endstop and you need to use the MAX jumper position on your RAMPS. If it's on the left then it's a MIN endstop and you use the MIN jumper position on the RAMPS. You also need to change Marlin #define X_HOME_DIR -1 for MIN and #define X_HOME_DIR 1 for MAX Steveby SteveRoy - Reprappers

QuoteFarmerChuck Hello, I am just getting started with 3d printing & have been getting my materials & parts all lined out for a printer. Quotefiliptheking The problem was that the thermistor didnt work, so i changed it! Problem number two also got solved because of this, which is strange. Quotercarrier31 Hello, i am new to these forums, i have got an issue with my mendel printer, Everything i print is double the size on the z axis, i am certain it is a firmware issue, but i cannot find it, i am running marlin firmware with cura. Some tips & random thoughts on building a 3D printer - because from reading the forum people seem to run into the same issues over and over again. 1. Take your time. Ask yourself "do I want to build a precision device that does high quality prints, or do I want something that creates ransom blobs of plastic" It took my buddy and I three months working one night a week on our scratch builtby SteveRoy - Reprappers
QuoteBackjump Ah perfect i do this calculation later. Must i change it on the fimware direct example in the configuration.h? QuoteBackjump Ah okay i understand, but where must i change this parameter? i only find this on the configuration.h on my marlin firmware // default settings //#define _AXIS_STEP_PER_UNIT {93.74, 94.184, 2564.1,700} from sprinter for printrboard // X, Y, Z, E steps per unit - Metric Prusa Mendel with Wade extruder: (current setting / actual reading * 100) #define DEFAULT_AXIS_STEPS_PER_UNITby SteveRoy - General Mendel Topics
Not sure what's causing the errors. I have ver 1.05 of the Arduino IDE and downloaded Marlin from the github site. You just need to open the Marlin.ino file in the IDE - that will open the others in the IDE, you will see them in the tabs. Try a test compile (not upload) with the stock Configuration.h file by clicking the check-mark of the IDE. If that compiles OK then change the Configuration.h aby SteveRoy - Reprappers
