I know what you mean Midge and I Were both made redundant from Sony Ericsson last March. That is why I am re-using every thing and any thing. As it appears we are both too old to be considered even for interviews. I have several relations around BC Vancouver / White rock area and some up north. We have outstanding invites to go visit ~ may be when I come up with the next must have Killer Gadby BodgeIt - Controllers
I envisage this being more of an AT-mega firmware exercise to achieve the speed required for this kind of application. Maybe I am under estimating the speed of a compiled sketch. I think a USB connection has enough speed for Video then it will be fast enough for a scope application.by BodgeIt - Controllers
The first job being making your extruder before taking things apart. From the Link Sebastien has given it looks like it will not be that hard to remove the covers From here you can decide if you can remove the Y axis by unscrewing it from the X axis. If its fixed you just need to remove the Y axis components. Then with the frame bare and card board copy the Y axis frame transfer this to MDF thaby BodgeIt - Reprappers
Thank you for the clarification on that Triffid Hunter. STL files make a little more sense now.. ( Some Thing like ) Thinking about another thread that was saying how inaccurate G code files are. I am surprised that this little Gem of information was missed. I would feel much happier if we have the parts defined in absolute terms. Like a drawing in inches or mm as its easy to convert from oby BodgeIt - General
That would be really cool if you could do that.. I have a feeling we all would have seen one by now on instructables. There would be a LazerBot by now if you could cut thin ply!!by BodgeIt - General
I have a Tectronix 454A that I use has no storage 25mhz if I remember right. I also have the Elector Monitor/TV Scope from the 80's. Im now thinking of recycling the the Elecktor scope. Using the existing elektor channel amplifiers.. seems like a quick economic solution to get a storage scope. I have some high speed AtoD chips hanging around some place with an Atmega board. This could provideby BodgeIt - Controllers
Where are you UK or USA or ?? I'm using 250W PSUs on all of my Repstraps they are all from old PC cases. The only Repstrap Mendel will be different with a 20-24V supply. For UK brand New inc delivery & VAt 400W ATX £12.99. |cc:|prd:9768572|cat:Components That's without looking at places like EBay Or suppliers at local monthly computer shows have low cost New supplies And even lower cby BodgeIt - Controllers
Having a working x and Y axis provide you with two thirds of the mechanics required to build a repstrap. If it was good enough to engrave it will be good enough to extrude on too. Plus you know it already works and how fast it works etc. Just adding a Z axis or modifying an existing Z axis will make your repstrap build very quick. So before modifying the Z axis It might be worth looking to seby BodgeIt - Reprappers
Thank you ! Nophead.. I just took a few mins away from the project your reply is just what I needed to come back to... So I'm now going to add the element to the new shorter Welding tip using my last piece of nichrome wire this being my fourth element I have made now. With any luck I will get my first fully functioning extruder working tomorrow. Hopefully trying to get the rest of Mendel togetby BodgeIt - Reprappers
Is 1.5kg to 2kg pull / push good enough to extrude thru an extruder head that is 4mm long and 0.6mm in diameter reliably? Testing the new splined shaft in my perspex clone of the Mendel extruder block with 3mm ABS gave a maximum of 2kg an average of 1.4kg of pull measured before the ABS starts to be eaten away by the splined shaft. Now we know that Wade has achieved 5.5kg of pull without sliby BodgeIt - Reprappers
Once I remove the PSU from Berth CNC its an old 20-24V Pl-20 PSU from a PLC I was given. Bertha CNC is having its 13A 30V supply fitted instead. I would have thought that almost every one will have an old PC they could take the Power supply out of. You do not need to have an ATX an AT PSU will do the ATX 250W PSUs are as cheap as chips here £9 - £12 ~ in the USA they must be lees than this. Oveby BodgeIt - Controllers
You have to drill the Welding tip out to 3.5mm I have left 4mm at the bottom leaving 4mm of 0.6mm hole to extrude through the shorter Tips are 19mm long. As they are copper you can drill them out on a pedestal drill I have done before. Its better to drill the o.6mm hole out with 2.5mm before drilling the 3.5mm. This stops unwanted deviation of the bigger 3.5mm drill. It certainly extrudes OKby BodgeIt - Mechanics
One question I forgot to ask. Will all the parts to build the Min Lathe be RepRapable where ever its posible?by BodgeIt - Mechanics
Im not sure that you guys in the USA or any where else in the world apart from the UK will have seen any of the BBC programs by James May of Top Gear called "James Mays Toy Stories" from Lego to full life size "Spitfire" Airfix Kits and more. So here is a Link regarding Lego to amaze you all. So if you can make a full size house why not a RepRap or the Eiffel tower come to that.by BodgeIt - General
Interesting both James Villeneuve and my self didn't get it working. That leaves these questions I think. I did not have my new WIFI USB dongle when I install EMC2 Ubuntu 8.04 version. My old WIFI USB dongle was not detected, it was connected at the time of install. 1/. Did you install Emc2 Ubuntu 8.04 release or the regular Ubuntu 8.04? 2/. Is your network WIFI? 3/. Is your WIFI or Netwby BodgeIt - EMC2
Absolutely right about resolution I agree. Just getting an extruder to extrude reliably needed as a stepping stone. Towards that goal of improving the extruder resolution. As it allows the printing of a more complex worm gear extruder head parts. Thinking about worm gears and where to get some to play with. OO gauge trains and Minic cars though they might be too small. As I had Minic I don'by BodgeIt - Reprappers
Thank you that looks like a very neat solution to increasing the extruder Torque. Do you have any maximum torque figures for an unmodified extruder?by BodgeIt - Reprappers

What a neat simple solution with a choice of colour and finish. The depths being 6mm ~ 9mm Tiles can be cut to any size or shape easily. With shiny Marble composite being available in 6mm I believe. They also make tile heater element for under tile heating that it might be possible to utilize if it has a low enough resistance for our low voltage requirement.by BodgeIt - General
I could not see a use for them as Im lazy I left them out on my plastic corner block version. With MDF you can always drill it later.by BodgeIt - General Mendel Topics
Building A reprap machine from scratch is quite a large commitment for a new user to under take. So I think we should help budding new reprappers in this way. We have a simple low cost solution that is easy to build the "starter machine" or "Little Mendel" Then having simple easy instructions with some pre-sliced ready to run files to start building / printing replacements using the "starterby BodgeIt - Administration, Announcements, Policy
I think that if I can get my extruder to work just good enough. Its first job will be to print the more complicated extruder block required for a geared extruder and the two gears. The extruder drive is the key component that is I think the most dificult component to scratch build as it requires more far more acurate parts to work perfectly.by BodgeIt - Reprappers
Thes links will give you a verry good Idea of how to procced... I also have yet another version that is not exactly the same as a Mendel It was created using a mixture of the drawings from Metal and Wooden Mendelby BodgeIt - Reprappers
Oh great looking gears.. What is the extruder resolution going to be with thos?by BodgeIt - General
More expensive yes "But you do get 34 pages more using an original cartridge" Now that will be interesting what will the add say for 3D cartridges? "You can print 4 more plastic Euros" or "20 more handcuff keys"by BodgeIt - General
I have put a very simple and quick application in but its nearly 2 months late. So I don't hold much hope to getting a place .. If I do get lucky will any one else like to join in ...? For Mendel you only need 12V DC @ about 5A Cupcake will not use any more than 12V at 5A If there was ever a heated Bed fitted you would need more.by BodgeIt - Controllers
Yes It is a huge pain on the EMC2 8.04 Ubunto setup I have only that installed so I use a memory stick for file transfer If I had known I would not have bought a wifi dongle for this Machine. My Linux expertise is virtually zero now its changed such a lot since the mid eighties Question did WIFI or networking work on erlier versions.. ??? Is there a proposed WIFI or networking fix..?by BodgeIt - EMC2
