I know its an old thread (hey I'm searching) But why not make the plastic negative mold and cast wax into that, to produce multiple wax molds for metal casting? rhmorrison Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > @martinprice2004: You totally missed the point of > his original post. > > > > He needs bronze parts for his sailboat not plastic > partby anode505 - General

I forgot the error I was getting but found that I needed to cycle power and unplug/plug the USB cable in and it goes fine. (might add in a reset button after the usb plug-in)by anode505 - General

Actually no. If i look at layer by layer in ponterface it shows it being 'sparse' (also just came to me, that first layer fill is 90^ not the normal 45^) Polygonhell Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > If it's just the first layer, the odds are your Z > is too high for the first layer.by anode505 - General
Howdy. I'm a couple versions behind on Slic3r (0.9.1 I think) The first layer isn't full/solid, the rest of the layers are. I've messed with brim & skirt but to no avail. (different setting and on/off makes no dif) Another prob I have is size cal. The steps are correct, tested and adjusted via lastword and indicators and calipers. I can get the outside and insides dimensions right, but Iby anode505 - General

Nat, have your CC company put a hold on the funds till its resolved. I bet it will get done a LOT faster.by anode505 - General
just a quick idea, is the hot end cooling off while extruding?by anode505 - General
Someone somewhere mentioned using hairspray on the surface. (keep forgetting to pick some up to try) Sounds feasible to me.by anode505 - General
Slic3r, Prontface, Sprinter, Prusa. (ABS on kapton, 230C and 110C) My holes are small, and outside is big. Fairly equal. Its a rectangle block 25mm x 50mm (6mm high) with a 16mm round hole and a 17mm square hole. I'm about .5mm off on all. I can tweak the step_per_mm in the firmware and get one right, but the other seems to go further into 'wrong' Now I'm a service engineer for CNC lasers.by anode505 - General
Sorry for your woes. In my dealing I was TOLD to remove my remarks from this forum As for the BBB, as an acredited biz, its a little bit of a scam, you pay to join, they don't give out the 'sticker' for free. 3DSystems is even a public company, that almost makes sense. Ok will up the baud. I gotta tweak the axis anyways. Is this normal for re-flashing? I need to unplug the USB and power cylce the board to get the software to upload the new firmware. If I do just one of those, no-go. (dang, I struggled over that one for a stretched )by anode505 - General
AH! Missed that small perimeter speed. Gosta play. thanks Whats the 'cut-off' to be 'small perimeter/? (Baud is the standard 38K for this firmware. I try not to mess too much with it. I'm PIC man, not audrino )by anode505 - General
(Prusa, Gen 6-Sprinter, Ponterface/Splic3r) I've found the machine does some random (when and how long) micro-pauses when doing curves/radius. This normal? I find it hard (but not impossible) to believe its a PC->Gen6 coms prob. Alos on small holes/radius, < 4mm Dia, it goes so slow it goobers up. I've kludged a fix of just making them square holes. The 2mm holes come out pretty muchby anode505 - General
very high speed on the bit. Smaller the bit, higher the speed needed. And if you can't hold everything *ULTRA STEADY and TRUE*, go with high speed steel. Solid carbide doesn't flex at all and will snap. HSS will give/flex a bit.by anode505 - General
LOL, almost the same with me. Got a laser Mendel from TechZone (TZ was good to me on a few issues) . Hot end was useless. I shelfed the project for a year-ish. Wound up buying a Prusa kit from MakerFarm (I *tried* to buy a kit from Botmill first, but that didn't turn out well) MakerFarm was a pleasant transaction. Downside was they don't sell the rods, smooth or threaded. Building the Pruby anode505 - General
Ok got the thing built and squeezing goo! Using Gen6 & Ponterface with SFACT on Win XP netbook (real kybrd & mouse and wide screen monitor; *much* nicer) Mendal Prusa, heated bed, kapton tape directly on the heater/bed ~ 100C, ABS 3mm Is there an up to date manual for SFACT? All I see is realy the older Skienforge version. Yes, its close, but not close enough for me. Some Qs; Howby anode505 - General
Thanks, Now the firmware issues: I got with the Prusa a Gen6 and a Ramps 1.4. Nothing conntects with the Gen 6 (Ramps built need to do cables) I've tried following guides on installing firmware. I get sync errors with Ardruino, or if i use other versions of ardruinio i get compile errors. (I'm a PIC micro controler guy, used to just loading a hex file, seems ther is no compiled file for theby anode505 - General
I had played about a year ago. (mothballed it due to a piss-poor hot end) Back in it with a new Prusa build. Whats a happy computer (Mac based) software? I remember Replicator, sienkenfoge (sp?) RepSnapper, and some other one. None of which seemed perfect to me. Snapper, if I remember right, allowed nesting parts, Replicator was a single STL file. So whats the hot ticket these days? I liby anode505 - General
WEll got my Prusa in and its basically built (electronic tomorow). Makerfarm vs Botmill, NO question. Makerfarm HANDS DOWN! a *perfect* transaction and all (just wished they would supply the rods too, but that was easy enough done)by anode505 - General
I bailed on them today. Its a shame. But hey; live and learn. Went with maker farm Prusa with Gen 6 and an extra ramps, and a spare extruder and hot end. But I got a Q, since I need the threaded and smooth rods, are the Prrusa and Mendal Sells (normal mendel?) the same lengths? I already ordered from Mc Master and VXB but I got lengths and will cut here.by anode505 - General
Holly Poo-poo! 3D System is a public company! (though market cap is 1.6M) Think I'll buy a few shares just to go to the shareholders meeting and have a little fun.by anode505 - General
I'm thinking of becoming a supplier myself. Just wondering about the demand. I'd be 100% upfront. I already run a biz, BBB rated, and kinda in my field anyways.by anode505 - General
I got a NEW email today (after sending one today asking for the tracking #) I'l get one today (now over) or in the morning. If not, I'm bailing. Once its refunded, I'll send a letter (snail mail) to the prez.by anode505 - General
Thanks. Have a TechZone laser cut. That never really got off the ground. The extruder was/is horrible. I figure betwen the two I'll have a working machine. (TZ does or did have great customer service from my point of view) I do have a small machine shop and access to CNC lasers, so a little creativity (and dealing with an non-AC'd garage) I can build whats needed.by anode505 - General
