I'm building an XYZ machine out of extruded aluminum and briefly but seriously considered v-slot. But it turns out that the cost of the wheels alone (at almost $5 each!) quickly got out of hand and became the single most expensive component of the whole project. I imagine these wheels are designed to withstand immense forces and hold up in the most demanding of applications, but a simple reprapby tylerl - Extruded Aluminum Frames
Extruding plastic in a vacuum would likely lead to undesirable results, for example you are more likely to get tiny bubbles in your prints. The sound dampening would be minimal because very little sounds is actually produced by the extrusion process itself; the noise comes from the stepper motors. But pulling a vacuum on your printer would be very difficult and not going to happen by accident, aby tylerl - General

I've seen in a number of places, including ebay, newegg, amazon, aliexpress, and a few others a cheap ($20-$30 -ish) hotend claiming to be the "J-Head v6". Of course, J-Head doesn't have a "V6", they use MK1, MK2, etc. in their names. And the hotend looks suspiciously similar to the significantly more expensive E3D V6, or perhaps the Lite6. Product labelling notwithstanding, the price is prettyby tylerl - General New Machines Topics
