didnt everyone move away from rubber, as it would be worn out quickly, resulting in a non-rubber surface which cant pull the filament

I just received my geared motor with encoder today, and have been looking at the best way to turn it into an extruder. My goodness it's tiny! So small.
Looking at the output shaft, it doesn't have a bearing, only a steel on brass bush. Are the side loads from the idler bearing considered low enough for this style of bearing surface? Would it be better to mount this motor somehow

It seems like that the conclusion for all those projects, ends saying the PID tuning is the reason why we still use steppers...
Its kinda sad pid tuning is hard.. but then again, a good guide can help A LONG way !

Interesting, although I do not fully understand the mechanics here. Why is the middle bearing flanged? What shaft is it you used? How did you connected the shaft to the motor?
I think its just because it was available, no reason for a flanged bearing there

Would Servolulu work with one of these magnetic encoders from Pololu?
Magnetic Encoder Pair Kit for Micro Metal Gearmotors, 12 CPR, 2.7-18V (HPCB compatible)
It would be great for this ultralight extruder
Cant see any reasons they shouldnt work, but your resolution are only 12 pulses per revolution, and then your gearing

Cant say how much i LOVE this project, I initially stopped my simular project, as I thought it wouldnt be any good using the drop-in module.. step+dir -> dc motor
And the plan was to make a new controller board with dc in the heart, and a STM32xxxxxx as the mcu..
But it seems to be good enough just to use this approach instead !

Its from here, but not ideal...
Had to redrill the mount holes.. and I super glued my fan on to it

For now I have
retract 2mm
and Restart extra destance = -0.1
that did something to it..
And for your strings... I had the issue this morning... the side facing out to the room is PERFECT, the opposite is stringy and shit...
think its a breeze like your saying.. cause, when I added a fan on each side of the bed, running at 5V it was all gone.. and both sides was perfect
but I still have the "b

In slic3r its n-layers
which in my opinion makes most sense, as I the can change it depending on my layer height

Hi
I have been trying to getting used to skeinforge for some weeks now, after been using slic3r for some time..
I was trying to get skeinforge to work as simulare to slic3r as possible, but cant seem to get my fan to ONLY run when its needed to cool small sections AND bridges
When its running from start to end, it cools my build platform and makes the object separate and so on
So.. is there

I know it's pretty high, but I did that in an attempt to remove the blob I have at every loop start..

I played a little with the ooze-bane and retraction, and got the following result, still having blobs some times but far less, and clip is probably the reason for the holes.
attach profile as zip.
What can be seen is that most of the blob is gone now.. but was Oozebane the right setting for this problem ?

Remeasured my E steps.. no change so far..
But of what I can see, the problem is at every loop START.. it looks like mt extruder is putting a "blob" at the start of the loop.
And that's the thing I can see sticking out on the above picture :-/

Havnt had the time to fix it yet work work work...
First: you are aware that the picture is showing the side of the cubes ? so the lines on the side on this picture is my Raft leftovers
But my nozzle is 0.5
and its puting out 0.58 in diameter when testing it at slooooooooooow speeds in free air.
my width over height is 1.67 (should be this number AFAIK)
But I have ajusted my Filament Packing D

I'll test it later to day.. I'm off in 4 hours
was printing that stupid cube all night changing a LOT of stuff to fix this
isnt the idea with Clip, to remove the blobs at each loop start ?

Hi
Im new to Skeinforge, and therefor dont know what to do at this point... I've got some pret nice 20x20x5mm test cubes by now..
BUT at every loop end on the outer shell (perimeter) I get an ugly missing piece of line... what I mean is when it goes from the outer to the second perimeter, I leaves a small hole in the wall... I tried to increase Jitter to 100, but now they just are all over the ob

Yes, yes I did, for citrusPerl I ran the utility and downloaded MinGW
installed it as C:/mingw32
pointed then to that folder..
But thats NOT the issue is it ?
I got this error as mentioned in main post:
