I started on this concept, on the measurement plate not the same size but my 2 cents on this.
we should add holes on the test plate that are the common size used for Darwin. I have had a time getting my holes to be the right size..
also what I started to do was make a pdf sheet with a calibration chart that would explain the changes you should make to get the machine to be calibrated. kind of

here is what I got from both MSC and Mc Master Carr
MSC
the pullies
04895132 .08P 20 GR DBLFLG MH MXL PULLEY W/ALUM HUB 6 ea 2.0500 $2.05
05399704 .08P 62 GR DBLFLG MH MXL PULLEY W/ALUM HUB 4 ea 2.3000 $6.90
I had to drill out the holes to a larger size but they did not cost a lot.
also they had very good prices on screws look at the import line..

I have found in my research on this subject that Arduino has at least 5 libraries and they have changed from rev. to rev. of software. That is the reason I believe they use cgywin without it it would be a real pain to install.
We use 2 and one is java 3d which has a .exe installer that know where to install the libraries.
In looking at the Adruino site they have to use a Linux environment to r

I have created a first run at a windows installer.
some things to know.
it installs the host software and places it in the program files reprap 2 folder by default. it then checks to see if you have java 6.0.3 installed and if not installs it then does the same for java 3d 1.5 this is a first run and a beta!!
this is also the most current host software built on dec 23 07 this program also inst

Jonathan,
Do you know of a way to find the JRE folder in windows from NSIS and then install the rxtx files that is where I am left trying to get to work I also wonder if it is possible to install the jre files to the java program folder instead of running the java jre installer. if that is possable then we could install the files with the java 3d and rxtx files added..

The Reprap host software has the ability to run as subtractive using stl files. I am not sure anybody has tried it yet?? I think it would be cool to see.

Jonathan,
I have been looking into using cygwin that is what the Adruino group has been using for their system. But I think NSIS might be a easier solution. since we have the software working on Windows already it is just a little work..
I would love to work together on this..
your .deb package sounds great and i think it will be great to get Linux install easy then to move on I will start t

You should be able to click on edit and then you will get icons on the upper left hand of the map allowing you to add an icon and info on your self.. You can add a shamless plug for bits from bytes and great job Ian. (can you make parts for the older extruder?? version.)

I like the idea of 250.00 because it will be more used and in 3rd world countries.
We are not that far behind just not in the media as much and I am personally trying to get in the media more here.. We also do not have a kit yet to buy which I think even though it is expensive it is helping the spread of the machine.

Dan,
Sound like you are getting closer Way Cool!!!!
I have found that using Forrest's foam board and then taking a HDPE milk jug cleaned out or a gallon water jug and cutting out a small piece and gluing it to the foam board (i have used a glue stick) has helped even better.
I wonder if changing the firmware to be 400 steps would help you out. now it is only stepping at 200 steps even though

Dan,
Where is your z axis end stop connected ?? it sound like it is right. Do you have a jumper on the max end stop or a max and stop wired up? you need a jumper on the 2nd and 3rd pins if no end stop You also need sync wires connected on all the stepper boards. (this is not related but you will find if you do not have then that you will..
I agree with the torque setting mine get hot also but
