What Nudel is saying is that the raw cost is NOT the cost to produce a single card. The cost just for sourcing the material (shipping & handling for example) might cost more than the raw material itself. And many components are not sold in single quantities (or very expensive when done). So of course sellers have som kind of margin when selling the complete boards. I'm using this serial/I2C 16x2 LCD on my Melzi board (connected by two pin I2C): It works good after som modification of the Marlin firmware (The RepRapPro_Huxley branch of Marlin on my github, Malx122 ) But it also exist solution for bigger displays and keypads that can be attached by I2C. (Will probably require even more modifications)by Malx - Sanguino(lolu)

I talked to Camiel over phone over a week ago about me canceling the order and wanted a refund (thanks to James). Later that evening my father got a mail that the order was canceled and the money refunded. However, no money has appeared yet . (I'm in EU so a bank transfer should take maximum 2 days according to the EU rules)by Malx - General

It's not me you need to "convince", as I said, it's seems to be a nice product and at a fantastic price point. It's just the lack of information I'm against. While USB->serial connections works fine with most 3d-printer software, Usb->parallel does not work with EMC2 or MACH3. Don't ask me why, I think it is very strange. Ok, to begin with it was not about not giving credit to the RepRap community. It was more that I (I'm a newbie) would after I first heard about RepRap expect certain things from the various RepRap machines, one of the things is the USB-connection and some of the software compatibility. This of course differs between RepRap/Repstraps models, both kits and home builded but some of the compatibilitby Malx - General

I just found that the description on the indiegogo is very easy to misunderstand for a not experienced person, just the people this campaign seems to aim for with its low price approach. Is it really a 3d-printer if there is no software that can be used to print with it? I might be wrong but I have not seen any extruder control in Mach3 (I havn't worked that much in it but made a few CNC cuts). Then a extruder is sort of worthless...by Malx - General

Yepp, the Printrbot kickstarter project will be a real challenge for Brook Drumm! How is he going to deliver nearly 400 at feb? He will need a lot of help from the local community. I didn't mean to sound cocky in any way (english is not my native language). It was more that I see mostly two different views from open source developers, I have full respect for both of them even though I personally is more of a "lesser GPL" guy than GPL. And get all the R and D for free ???? We shall have to wait and see if 3dsytems gives back to the community. I didn't say that everyone approves. But at least I try to differ between what I do for fun and what I do to professionally. That's why I normally release everything I do in my hobby (RC-multicopters) for free, even for commercial use. "Why should developers spend vast amounts of time and effort in order that 3dsystems can cash in on it." That's just one way of seeing it. But it can also give value to the community if a bigger company can give support and delivery times that the community can't. Nope, he is impossible to contact (although James found out that he is alive?). One of the RepRap Developer really should link to this thread from the Mendel_Buyers_Guide like they have done with others companies. For me its not the look of the electronics, it's more that I don't like having things like that in the open. However, I'm quite good at 3D-design, I will probably come up with something myself. Is it big difference between the Orca v0.2 and Orca v0.3 when it comes to mod for linear bearings? (I have only looked at Orca v0.3). The pictures are looking really good and will be great help (if/when we receive an Orca) But I must also say that I really like the "lego"-type drawings that Camiel is using. (They are just a little few and are missing some details) Together with both pictures and instructions it will be a piece of cake. Hi all! I did a order on a v.0.3 a little more than a week ago without checking the forums (bad idea). Problem with the paypal made me do a bank transfer (even worse idea). Now my order still standing on "pending" without any contact possible.
