Hey guys, beginner here so please excuse the errors. Im trying to make a finger for the purposes of being fully rotatable up and down when 3d printed. I split the finger into 3 solidworks parts. Each part has snap fit joints to allow for rotation. I need some help with getting an opinion on the actual "snap fit" joints I made. Basically: Is my snap in semicircular joint design going to beby watlooazn - Let's design something! (I've got an idea ...)
Tried my first ever calibration cube print: Immediately ran into a problem where The extruder printed first layer Second layer started to peal off wrapped onto extruder. This continued until a lot of filament wrapped onto extruder tip and none was left on the bed.it almost pealed off. Quotetimbrady Hello I just set up my new i3 and im having a problem. The x axis is only moving in one direction when i start to print, I've check all settings and wires multiple times. Anyone have a solution. Thanks Try ensuring all max endstops are disabled in the config.h codeby watlooazn - Prusa i3 and variants
Still trying to print my first calibration cube. I load the part, slice, click print and now it's weird I see my heat bed heating up but it took it 50 mins!! To reach 60 deg. After that it stopped heating up even thought it's supposed to reach 80 to print. Maybe it's a bad solder job? My wires are solidly attached to contacts 1 2 and 3 on the bed. What could be the issue here? Another key thby watlooazn - Prusa i3 and variants
Trying to print my first ever calibration cube. When I load the 20 mm cube stl file into the repetier host, click slice, then click print. Nothing happens. All of a sudden the image of the cube disappears. I can see the heat bed temperature rising but the extruder temperature doesn't rise at all (it does but very very slowly). I've already tested my extruder at 230 C so I know it works. But whby watlooazn - Prusa i3 and variants
Really having trouble here. Motors only move in ONE direction. All max positions show as triggered when I send M119. I tried enabling the pull-up resistors for the max endstops by uncommenting the define endstoppullup for all max values below: #ifdef ENDSTOPPULLUPS #define ENDSTOPPULLUP_XMAX #define ENDSTOPPULLUP_YMAX #define ENDSTOPPULLUP_ZMAX #define ENDSTOPPULLUP_XMIN #define ENDby watlooazn - Prusa i3 and variants
How would I do that pls ?by watlooazn - Prusa i3 and variants
Also, my motors still don't move in the non homing directions. I typed M119 in the gcode and got 'triggered' as a max value for all 3 endstops. I tried to uncomment define DISABLE_MAX_ENDSTOPS as shown below, but nothing happened. How can I get my motors to move in the other directions? // The pullups are needed if you directly connect a mechanical endswitch between the signal and ground pins.by watlooazn - Prusa i3 and variants
Is the home position supposed to be with the extruder at the FRONT RIGHT of the heat bed or the extruder at the BACK RIGHT of the heat bed? How would any of the above change printing? I want to make mine at the back right but cant get the heat bed to move front in the y direction when homing even when I set the code as follows: #define Y_HOME_DIR 1 Anyways, I'll just settle for my heat bed tby watlooazn - Prusa i3 and variants
Quoteelkayem Quotewatlooazn This is strange.. In manual control whenever I select the up direction for z axis, left for x and forward for y, no motors move. awesome I will try this, thanks! Another question is shouldn't the Y endstop be placed near the front of the printer? The manual says to place it at the rear. But from my understanding, if we want the home position of the extruder to be at the back right of the bed, then the y endstop should be at the front so the heatbed can move foward and for the extruder to be at it's back right. Alright guys my bad, I didn't read the previous posts, thanks for your help. Now regarding my Z motors Issues: I found out that the Z motors work perfectly fine after connecting them to the x and y ports. Also, the reason they were vibrating and not moving before was because my threaded rods weren't installed properly. But now I have a new issue: It takes my z axis approx 30 seconds to movby watlooazn - Prusa i3 and variants
After some trouble shooting I confirmed that theres something wrong with my z motors. Ill just repost what I wrote before: My two z motors vibrate but don't turn. Hi can you please give me help on how exactly you changed this? so the pair of wires should be side by side in the connector? How did you remove the connector and then reattach it?by watlooazn - Stepper Motors, Servo Motors, DC Motors
My top 2 motors turn but the threaded rod doesn't move, it gets stuck and starts stuttering as if something is stopping it, so i was wondering if I needed more current.by watlooazn - Prusa i3 and variants

Thanks so much for your help. I tried doing what you told me, got a dmm, followed exact instructions, set it to continuity tester mode, touched the 2 leads together and heard a beep meaning the dmm is working, but I get no results when I touch each of the probes to each wire and the other probe to the the prongs. I only get a result when I switch the mode from continuity to resistance and all 3by watlooazn - Prusa i3 and variants
New to electrical stuff, can you help me out? So how would I use the multimeter? Where should I put the black and red wires of the multimeter onto the green, black, and white wires of the power supply to find out which is neutral, hot, and ground? Need help with clarifying how to attach the extruder's fan's wire According to the picture I attached, I should be using 1 meter of 22 gauge wire. But Ive only had 16 gauge wire that ive been using so far. I cant find any 22 gauge in my kit. 1) Was the 22 gauge a typo? Can I just use the 16 gauge? 2) Is it necessary to use 1 meter or just enough for it to reach from the extruder's fan to the poby watlooazn - Prusa i3 and variants
