thetenter: Where did you apply the 5V to the Arduino? Via the barrel power connector or via the pin headers? Just a note that the barrel power connector has a regulator on it, so you need to provide a power source higher than 5V usually (eg: 9-12V). Make sure however to check your Arduino design, as I would not be surprised if some of the cheaper clones "lose" this circuitry to save on costs.by Cefiar - Controllers

Once the extrudate (filament) exits the extruder, it goes through some sizing plates in a water chamber, to cool the extrudate and help it keep it's shape. It is then pulled out of the water bath (at an appropriate rate) using something like a caterpillar puller, to avoid stretching the plastic.by Cefiar - General
That's what I did with my M3-25's. FWIW: Put a normal M3 nut on the bolt before you cut. After some cleaning up of the end of the bolt and the thread, you should then be able to remove the nut. The act of removing the nut will help clean up any remaining thread problems, without trying to get a nut correctly aligned to the bolt thread. Note: I have seen people do this with a die cutter, using tby Cefiar - General Mendel Topics
Ok, firstly, you can't seem to test if the ignore module is there by swapping the CSS, as the ignore code isn't in the CSS, it's on the page. Silly me. Secondly, I tested it another way and the ignore-forum module isn't loaded, or isn't enabled.by Cefiar - Administration, Announcements, Policy

Just an additional note that I've tested the ignore-forum module locally and it works. Once it's installed and enabled, you need to edit the site template to show the ignore forum button, otherwise it just won't work. Does anyone else have any suggestions for theme alterations they'd like to see? I'm happy to do the background work.by Cefiar - Administration, Announcements, Policy
Ok... 1. To change the top-level template, go into the Phorum admin page, and in the left box marked Forum Settings there is a Default Settings link. On that page, change the Template setting in the Display Settings section to Phorum Emerald Template 1.0. Note that the current template used on the main page is Classic Phorum Template 0.4. 2. To change the max width of the theme, you need to ediby Cefiar - Administration, Announcements, Policy
jgilmore: I can add in the calls (links that call the relevant function) in the CSS, but the module needs to be loaded on the host as well.by Cefiar - Administration, Announcements, Policy
jgilmore: That'd do it. A lot of hotels with sign-on systems return blank or redirection pages when you hit a URL without first logging in, rather than an HTTP error. If that page happens to be a CSS page, you can get garbage stuck in your cache. Most likely the forums that this happened on were the ones that had the old white theme, as the CSS is different for those pages (compared to those witby Cefiar - Administration, Announcements, Policy
Sebastien: I'm happy to give you pre-edited CSS that fixes a few forum things, which should be just a matter of copying into the right place. I can also add in the code for using the Ignore module if required. nophead: I'm using a simple greasemonkey script that modifies the width of the emerald theme so that it uses the full width of the browser. I'd prefer to not use that script and have thatby Cefiar - Administration, Announcements, Policy
How much current is the power supply rated at, and what type is it? The heater draws a lot of current. It could be there isn't enough current to run the stepper. I would expect other issues as well though.by Cefiar - Controllers
Gotta say though, I've seen this and noted that even after reviewing all the pages, I've not seen the marker of someone who was definitely added. It's almost like it's got a limit on how many people can be on the thing.by Cefiar - New Zealand RepRap User Group
Do you mean the top level of the forum? Yes, it's that stupid white one, which I really wish someone would change to the green (emerald) one. That way, the site would be consistent. That said, I see no real problem with it. BTW: Something that affects style sheets with the forum: The "ignore forum" module, which I've still not seen appear despite numerous requests by myself and other people.by Cefiar - Administration, Announcements, Policy
Bart: I mean that if the extruder is not held in place in the X and Y directions, the extruder could move relative to the carriage when bumped in one of those directions. Yes, the extruder itself does not move in Y, but it moves relative to the bed in Y. If the extruder barrel hits the printed object, the extruder will slide about on the carriage, no matter what magnets you have, if it's not helby Cefiar - General Mendel Topics
I had a feeling that was the case (re: sin 30). I'll take a further look at it tomorrow and see if I can come up with anything. BTW: One of the reasons for asking is that some combinations of sin/cos formulas can be transformed into other combinations, which might be easier for you to calculate. Do you ever see that angle (60 in one, 30 in the other) changing?by Cefiar - General
As a first look, it seems that in the middle segment of each equation, you have a squared square root. eg: pow(sqrt( _____ pow((J * -0.8660254) - (x - (V * 0.8660254)),2) + pow((J * -0.5) - (y + (V * -0.5)),2) _____ ),2) You should be able to eliminate that straight away. They're about 7-8 grams a rod. Based on 8 grams, it should be about 800g per 100m, or 400g per 50m, which is close to the weight I guessed at. That was on his scales.. I haven't got scales that go that low. Will see what I can do. There isn't any place for the bolts to go on the Wades. It was designed just before Adrian came up with the V4 hotend design. However, it should be possible to modify Tony Buser's sideways mount to have the necessary holes for a V4 hotend. I'm intending to look at this soon, but other things on my plate at the moment. A few notes: 1. Using 100% recycled plastic leads to structural degradation of the plastic polymer. The plastic may not be anywhere near as useful as new material, so you may need to mix it with some virgin unprocessed material as well. 2. Beware of small amounts of plastic getting into the environment. Unless the whole thing is sealed, I would not recommend using air to blow any particles ofby Cefiar - General
If you're going to use magnets, you need to constrain the extruder in the X and Y directions, so that it doesn't get knocked about while printing. Otherwise, your nozzle will never be in the same place twice after any sort of obstruction is encountered.by Cefiar - General Mendel Topics
Using a transformer has it's own issues. Transformers draw a fair percentage of their current, even when the output current is not being drawn upon. This is a major issue if you're trying to reduce the energy footprint (ie: more efficient). You gain a bit of efficiency by using AC over DC (no regulation losses, no rectification losses), but not enough to offset the constant current draw. The current limit on days in Jan for a catchup seem to be the 9th (Sunday) or the 16th (Sunday), if we stick to a weekend, and avoid LCA. So, how does the 16th of Jan sound? Ahh I missed the reference to AndyMark as a supplier. I was under the impression this was just something sold by McMaster-Carr. Apologies for misreading your post.
