You may well be right and I should just replace the board. I've been struggling to get a filament cooling fan running (Sailfish 7.7) and I need it to get decent parts to patch the printer up or to build a replacement, I have a PWM left over from another project so I could use that to control the fan and bypass the main board altogether. I may try that tomorrow. Atb. Alan Ps. The rby aamcle - General
On the assumption that I can ever get it running well enough to print the components for its replacement I'm seriously considering chopping my CTC Replicator 1 clone. I would have these bits :- 4 x 300mm guide rods and bearings 2 x 420mm guide rods and bearings 1 x dual Mk8 direct print head 1 x 24v power supply 1 x lead screw 3 x Nema 17 steppers. 1 x heated bed Various belts, end stops, andby aamcle - General

I've been looking around and since its not going to get much use once the novelty has worn off a MPCNC might be a good option but has anybody actually built and run a Snappy? It looks fun especially in multi-colours Even so some Dexion and a few rods could build a typical printer and as you said designing these things is very very interesting. Atb. I like building "stuff" and my son (adult so he may be able to keep his fingers out of the belts) is interested in a printer, I have a Replicator clone so I can print any parts needed. It doesn't been to have a large volume in fact a compact size would be an advantage but I do want a heated bed and probably some sort of display. What can you recommend as a first and relatively inexpensive builby aamcle - General
It's been a while since I did anything with CAD and that was CAD 6 originally under MS Dos or maybe Win3 although looking back that far I'm not sure which. Now with all it's luxury touches I'm finding TinkerCad more than a bit different in practice a completely different beast. I've done the few tutorials on the Tinkercad site which amount to little more than demonstrating a few controls. Pleby aamcle - 3D Design tools
I'm tempted to do a complete rebuild on my CTC Replicator clone but I can't really justify much of a budget and 2020 or 3030 is expensive in the UK. What I can get hold of easily and cheaply is slotted angle, you may know if as Dexion, do you know if any RepRaps have been made using it as a frame? It's strong, rigid if assembled correctly and quite easy to adjust but down side is that it loby aamcle - General

I'm still working on my old CTC Replicator clone and today I checked the Z axis for backlash. Holding the lead screw I can lift the brass nut a noticeable distance relative to the screw, probably less than 1mm but enough to feel. I'm all other respects the Z axis seems solid. With the weight of the heated bed bearing down it is this going to be an issue during printing, I'm thinking particulaby aamcle - General
I have an old CTC Replicator clone, I think I have finally got it to a fully usable state but it's so so awkward to do anything with. The box gets in the way and for PC type reasons (they are geriatric Vista on one Linux on the other) I'm using Mattercontrol and RepG, Mattercontrol is fine RepG is a time warp. Just checking the heater rod, temperature sensor and fitting a new nozzle took a stuby aamcle - General
I'm not likely to build one, it's just interest. Oh and I've got another question, V Slot or traditional linear rails? I was also looking at supported rods that are used with bearings that have a cut out. Atb. Aamcleby aamcle - General
I'm new I've not had a printer long so new in fact I'm only just about to start my second roll of filament. When I become interested in a subject I read and read, check the videos and generally try to learn as much as my limits allow. Now I've seen a number of printer designs that for some reason don't sit well with me, some are built to withstand an Elephant squatting on the hot end others jby aamcle - General
That plugin is post processing, it will take gcode file and convert it to x3g for a Makerbot Clone but I don't think it solves my connection issue. Aamcleby aamcle - Firmware - mainstream and related support
I have an old CTC Replicator copy that is now running Sailfish 7.6 and I've just installed Cura under Linux Mint, Cura says the printer is not connected when attached using USB. RepG can connect so there's no issue with the printer, how do I get Cura to recognise the printer? It wouldn't be so bad if Mint didn't have a bug that stops it writing to a SD Card, I have yet to find a solution onlineby aamcle - Firmware - mainstream and related support

I've found a guide it's achievable but would cost more than the printer is worth I'll live with the frustration until it's time to buy or build a new machine. aamcleby aamcle - General
I'm new to 3d but not to building "stuff" recently I picked up a old CTC Replicator clone, setting it up has been a learning experience and some. Currently my biggest source of unending aggregation is software, RepG seriously sucks and changing parameters via button pushes reminds me of my first top loading VCR. Other than less aggravation what if anything would I gain but swapping out the oldby aamcle - General

I'm moving this from a machine specific sub forum as I'm told it was a redundant but of kit. I'm hoping for a recommendation for a relatively simple and inexpensive build. I'm in the UK and have no access to a printer so I'll need to buy some printed parts but most other bits I can source locally or from evilbay. The other limitations are cost, it needs to be inexpensive and require only simpby aamcle - General

Evening All. I would like to build a Prusia Mendal mendal but I foresee a few difficulties as I live in the UK and don't have access to a printer to make the printed parts it needs. Were can I get the bits or even a complete kit? I can probably source most of the components easily enough it's the printed bits that are the biggest issue. Any help much appreciated.
