Some comments, in no particular order.... co processor? no not really, its simply implments serial over USB. There is no ethernet support in standard reprap firmware. You would have to write something to support it. the R3 serial implmentation is better that earilers attempts, from what I read, and some pre R3 boards wont reboot correctly when requested to in software (the latter is fixableby Dust - New Zealand RepRap User Group

You have missed tho whole point. 3d printing is additive,. Ie no waste (well very little) vs subtractive, where 90% of material could be thrown away. You just want a 5 axis cnc mill. But in the 3d printing world, there are people working on adding more axis, so they can print anything without having to worry about overhangs and support etc... But its in its infancy. generating 5 axis gcode isby Dust - New Zealand RepRap User Group

The internet says 180x180mm (myne doesnt move yet so I cant confirm... ) So 152.4mm (6") is a bit small.. Nothing stopping you doing that of course, your just going to have lots of space around your hot bed and a smaller build size.by Dust - New Zealand RepRap User Group

From an e-mail on the Christchurch Robotics Mailing list If anyone would like to help out, leave a message and ill give you Marks e-mail. "A mate of mine is organizing a talk for the local radio club (Branch 56, Riccarton) and is interested to know if someone with a 3D printer (preferably home-made, maybe RepRap) would be willing to bring along their kit and do a demo one evening. There is something "wrong" with the 1284p bootloader that comes with arduino, or at least I couldn’t get it to work either. I’ve seen others having the same issues... see for how I installed a blank 1284p into my SL and got it working. The stuff you want starts about half way down the post. If your AVR is setup in arduino you can just flash the boot loader via the IDE, my AVR wasn't setup whby Dust - Sanguino(lolu)
You need stepper drivers. 4 of these or equivalent See the 4 modules plugged into the headers See for more info on setting them up.by Dust - Sanguino(lolu)
The issue is the hot end thermistor. It needs to be connected and working correctly and reading realistic temperatures, ie using correct thermistor tables for the hardware This is a safety 'feature' of Marlin.by Dust - Sanguino(lolu)
Some sort of stepper driver is essential Have you seen ? Lots of good information on standard Pololu A4988 stepper drivers.by Dust - Sanguino(lolu)

Is your reset enable jumper in place? (between the 644p and the pololu drivers) Is there a boot loader installed on your 644p? You have installed the Sanguino driver into Arduino and selected Sanguino as your board type? Or are you using a 1284p? Also you can't control the LED on the SL with blink, you would need to add a LED onto an IO pin. The one on the board is always on when power iby Dust - Sanguino(lolu)

Just a thought Have you got max endstops enabled, and perhaps max Z is triggered? GIve the machine a m119 "Get Endstop Status" see it it tells you anything.by Dust - General
The 644p must have a have a boot loader installed for you to install this way. Where did you get your 644p? did it come as part of a a kit? if so did it say anything about having a boot loader.? If you just got a 644p from a nornal (non reprap) electronics supplyer it will be blank. You will need a special bit of hardware to put a boot loader on it.
