I like the idea, but im not so sure the mega family has much life left in it. Another DICE board to consider making is around the 2.6A, 256 micro stepping and some of their other cool tech.. is a SPI and Step/direction interfaceby Dust - Controllers

your ramps is faulty, or you have a short, or your pololus are in backwards, or your enstops are wired across + and - or your fets are dead, or... and the list goes on... Im guessing dead pololus or pololus in backwards... general diagnosis follows NB always turn off and unplug power before making any changes. 1) remove ramps, does computer still talk to the mega? no. you have killed theby Dust - General
The pins are correct, just a different naming convention. (as I understand it) Ramps has individual enable line for the stepper drivers Those are commented out by default in config.ramps-v1.3.h Enable all the stepper enable pinsby Dust - RAMPS Electronics

souring in Nz is your issue Its far cheaper to source from over seas, even with shipping, but in small (sub $300) lots to avoid the tax man. Preferred model is what you like... most recommend the I3 pate or box, but others like the mendel 90 (more complete and better documentation) Other still per fer delta style printers, but these are harder ti get right (since everything moves to make x ,yby Dust - New Zealand RepRap User Group

Well I am, and have started collecting parts see link for parts im using. I have however ordered 5 sets of extruded 1515 tslot cut to kossel mini size, I have 2 sets for sale. $45 each. Christchurch pickup preferred. not moving in -ve direction is almost certainly endstops As in the controller thinks your min end stop is triggered, so it will not move any further -ve use the m119 command to get the controller to tell you what it is seeing for the endstops. basically test you endstops are working.. Make sure no end stops are being triggred, give a m119 command Hold down a end stop and give annther m119 coby Dust - Sanguino(lolu)

I'm looking at options for a heated bed platform for a kossel mini. I've seem Kapon heaters (one supplier only), and I've seen silicon heaters from china... Im not interested in abusing some power resistors But there doesnt seem to be any round open source PCB ones (I am aware of ) Anyone know how to make one? I know its just resistance of the traces... but I lack the practical experienceby Dust - Controllers
take a look at basically the stepper pins should be on the same side as the stepper connectors with the SureStepr SD8825 than means that the pins labelled 1a 1b 2b 2a should be on the side of the stepper connectorby Dust - RAMPS Electronics
If your having to hold down reset then your board is broken... The reset line of the 1284p or 644p is connected to DTR serial line of the serial converter chip via the auto reboot jumper. So all the computer has to do is toggle the DTR line and the board will reset. On reboot the boot loader is run witch allows you to upload new firmware over serial. set for a lot more details. You may wantby Dust - Sanguino(lolu)
Yes those two pins between the atmega chip and the 3rd stepper motor is the auto reset. Well your arduino IDE version is fine, it compiles fine etc. its just uploading thats fighting you. I would contact your seller and ask them what bootloeader they used, in particular what upload speed is expected by that boot loader, eliminate that variable.by Dust - Sanguino(lolu)
1) all prior version are the arduino IDE are still available see 2) avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout" is a communications error so the code compiled fine. Two common causes, presuming there is a working boot loader on the chip. 1) you have left off the auto reset jumper, this needs to be on to allow the computer to reset the board to getting it into upload mode. 2) you are attemptby Dust - Sanguino(lolu)
If you plug it in via USB, there isnt enough power to move steppers etc, it only provides 5v. It sounds like you have at least toasted the 5v regulator, first thing is to replace that. (and maybe c5 if its open cct) Then with 12v applied the led should light... crossing 12v onto 5v is always bad... It can damage every 5v device on the board.by Dust - Sanguino(lolu)
Its probably top side under the Pins, where you cant see it... A hot blob of solder squished flat. Unless you have solder sucker, its going to be a PITA to fix.. ie remove all pins and check under them. I wouldn’t try, I would pull the central pin from the plug on the servo and connect that directly to the to the vcc pin. after removing the vcc/5v jumper. That will power the servo without maby Dust - RAMPS Electronics
You do realize there is a web interface? "USING PRONTSERVE Prontserve runs a server for remotely monitoring and controlling your 3D printer over your network. To start the server you can run ./prontserve.py in the directory you git cloned printrun too. Once the server starts you can verify it's working by going to in your web browser."by Dust - Printing
The vcc/5v jumper only livens up the +5 pin in the centre of the servo pins. I would check for a short from the centre pin to the ground pin of the servo connectors. (gnd is edge most pins) also the servos go on the 3 pins... gnd,+5 and a signal pin. not across (Ive seen this done!)by Dust - RAMPS Electronics
