Since this is open source software, then It should be well documented why the use of Java is better than coding this under visual studio on a windoz machine which most people have access to. I still run my CNC software on win98 using a parallel port. I fer sure am not going to dedicate a new machine to experimental coding and compiling. This is going to be a real problem if the requirement is for JE6. In effect this violates all the hype for using java and invalidates the premise of cross platform usage. More argument that reprap is an illusion and a lie (sorry.) With the amount of attention this software is getting on blogs et all, then it must be realized that the project is going mainstream, and that support for older plaby sheep - RepRap Host
I am not sure what is meant by classpath? spotlight finds three instances of swing-layout-1.0.3.jar Two of these instances appear to be part of the sourecode distribution lib (which I am unclear how to compile) and not the application. There is an instance inside reprap-host-mac-20081218 which is inside the applications folder. -julieby sheep - RepRap Host

On OSX 10.4.11 I get the following log. Only one window opens. Can someone tell me how to get the program to run in "Gcode mode?" Bump. I really do not like having to post a reply to my own message. Can someone please help here. At the moment I am inclined to agree with the wired article that RepRap is a lie. That it does not work for the average person. I have a number of projects to deal with, some are Atmel assembly based. I do not have time to figure out the installation paths to recompile the host code. I did wastby sheep - RepRap Host
Some weeks ago I noted in a thread relating to a problem I have when I attempt to run the host java software on my mac mini (Power PC 10.4) Tiger. The main updated mac install notes state "To Be written" The only docs I could find indicated they were obsolete. I used them and everything installed. Art of illusion runs fine. So my java engine seems to be installed correctly. reprap.jar only opby sheep - RepRap Host
Is a good place to start for how to setup the card and the basics of communicating with SD. There are also some good tutorials and Libraries on AVRFreaks, net forums. Use the search function. This question gets asked a lot.by sheep - Controllers
I split my time between the North/East Bay (Martinez) and The south Bay (Sunnyvale) I have a 3 axis CNC. My plan has been to make some cast parts. I am now thinking of adapting the CNC to act as a RepStrap by adding in an extruder head. Since 2000 I have been working with Atmel AVR micros. I am not real enthused about Arduino yet.by sheep - California, San Francisco Bay Area RUG
I am experiencing the same issue with Mac OS X Tiger. I followed the instructions from the wiki to install rxtx and the other java libraries into the /Libraries/Java/Extention folder. AoI launches and runs as expected launching reprap.jar only opens one window the viewer window. Running the shell scripts produces the same result.
