i think the ability to import STL files would be of more benofit, as this is the format people are sharing with on thigyverse.. Aoi import would be usfull now and again, but i have alibre and would love the ability to import STL's! (without having to spend £90 on the plug in)
Have so say tho in general Alibre is great value for money!

Hi,
Are these the ø8mm guide bars? or M8 threaded bars? if they are the guide bars then i would say they would not be accurate enough, would wear excessivly with bearing running on them an alsow bow. You could however use then in place of some of the M8 threaded rod pieces by running a die up them!
of coarse you can always try them, and replace them later if they are no good, as they should be

i was going to get the lot cut from clear acrilic, (bed, electronic mounts etc, not any RP parts) i cant realy see a problem with it, unless anyone has actual direct experiance using acrilic thick sheets parts with no luck?? would be good to hear if you do..
Anyway, what ever i get them made from i will be placing an order this week.
i would say inc shipping from UK-Europe £50 for the set of par

Plastic RepRap Parts for Sale
Thanks for the comment theOtherRob, i do agree that there will only be slightly increased accuracy, but i think the benifit lies in reducing the parts count, fewer RP parts and bought parts, And far less complicated assembly, also as part of what i am doing, i am also reviewing every mendal part to improove print times. I will definatly be posting the STL files on Wiki, but before i do i need to

The 12 off linear bearings were around £25 i think..from a cineese supplier, ebay link below (ask for the 8mm version and a price for however many you need, i am using 12 off). the bearings took about 2 seconds to get in..(bores reamed to ø15mm to suit bearing) . The Plastic parts have slighting larger bolt holes to allow for alignment later.
All of the bearing housings i have drawn up can be re

Hi, i am currently printing off lots of the smaller Mendel parts to put up for sale (in an effort to fund my own Mendel development), these will be in black ABS and of pretty good quality, i am cleaning up and reaming out holes as i go, so these should be ready for assembling.
Let me know if you are interested and list the parts you want.
Thanks

Let me know if you still need items

Nophead.
with the current Mendal bearings, as you said they are designed and set up for inacurrate rod and alingments, for this very reason i would say they cannot be accurate, due to the design intent of being inacurrate. (if that sentance makes any sense at all..lol).
Thus my design intent is to not have any inacurate rod or missalingnments, and so giving me an opertunaty to use purpose made li

Yeh i do agree with over constaining, but i think it is perfectly possible to get linear bearing to run smoothly, just need to spend some time making sure every is exact as you build, i plan to also use centerless ground ø8.0mm rod, we buy alot of this where i work so i know it very straight.
I have only done the 'X' axis carrage and 'Z' axis ends so far as shown in the PDF but i am starting to

They are a Ball type linear bearing, from a chineese supplier (part LM8UU ), and i do intend on getting alingnment bang on, if nec i was thinking of running a hand reamer though the bearing location bores (once assembled) for exact sizes, and using shim down to 0.02mm thick to get exact alignments, hopfully no more than 0.05mm of out of square through out the mendal frame. And 0.02mm of paralleli

I have been working on re-designing the bearing parts for mendal to accept linear bearings to try and improove accuracy and rigidty. (£20 for 12 off of these bearings!) and wanted to see if anyone has any thoughts or opinions on it? have a look at my work do far in this 3D PDF.
Thanks Guys/Girls.

Hi guys, i am fairly new to this, and have only just started messing about with Skienforge, and the Reprap software. Now in the Reprap software i am able to rotate the model and choose its orientation before i post the Gcode, can this also be done in Skienforge? as i have some models that should be in a different orientation when posting the Gcode.
Thanks.

i have only just spotted this post, and i like the idea of a printable linear bearing. i am currently in the process of re-designing all the mendal carrages to accept Standard 8mm bore linear bearings. Theres a guy importing them from china on ebay for £22 for 10 off! very very good price (not sure of the qulity tho..lol). Does anyone have a Mendal running with linear bearings of any sort? if so

3D Design tools
Hello all. Does anybody need a Design service? i am able to handle most model file types and produce STL files for use on a Raprap. i can create new models from your "fag packet sketches" or vice versa, able to modify existing STL files acuratly and then re-save them. i am also able to produce Technical drawings from the model files.
Even if you just simply want a File converting with no design w

"Hello, I'm a designer." "I'm an engineer."
I just checked out the Sycode plug in with Alibre, and it works perfectly! very easy to use and edit the STL files, and then export them again as STL's again. the best bit is being able to acuraly snap to points and measure features! now anything i print i can check for accuracy after! so plug in + Alibre £170 still very cheap for profesional software thats on par with Pro E and solid works etc..

To be honest are there any CAD packages that can import, and then manipulate and edit STL files easily? ive been looking for some months now and havnt found one.Alibre has the largerest file import solution i found, and although the STL it exports are not Binery, they can be opened in Meshlab, and then re-saved as a binary STL, i found this works quite well.
