I was really inspired when the reprap project wanted to make self replicating things. Ive been obsessed with making a low cost robot arm for about a decade now. Here's the latest news. Where the Sixi2 was 1300 parts in 300 types, Sixi3 is 300 parts in 25 types. By using a single actuator design I get low backlash, high power, and really affordable manufacturing. cheap, fast, strong: pick twoby i-make-robots - Look what I made!
Hello, I have an open source project to run several boards without the specifics of 3D printing. The github is . I'm working in the Sixi3 branch, platformio+vscode in windows 10. I recently acquired an SKR PRO 1.2. I'm able to blink lights, move motors, etc. One thing I cannot do is actuate a servo connected to PA1 (BLTouch pins). Would you know how to make it work? Thanks,by i-make-robots - Tech-Talk
Hello all! We're making great progress on our latest robot arm and I think you'll be interested. Here's a recent shot of it in action: - Almost entirely 3D printed - 6 degrees of freedom, like a modern industrial arm - can carry 2kg - reach 80cm - speed 50 degree/s - accuracy goal +/-0.5mm - open hardware & open source I've written up the details on the Sixi page. In the meantime here's aby i-make-robots - Robots!
I have a robot that draws 2D pictures with a sharpie. Currently I can load a DXF and draw the outlines, like so: Assuming I can find closed loop sections and I know the size of my sharpie, how would I then infill appropriate regions? My app is open source in Java, and I'm looking for some help to take this to the next level. I imagine it's some kind of scan line to flood fill. 3D slicersby i-make-robots - Slic3r
I make a 2D plotter called the Makelangelo. It can read DXF files. In Inkscape I can quantize an image down to N colors to produce nested outlines. Currently that looks like this. What I want is a nice way to generate the infill, given the size of the pen tip (think nozzle size). In a perfect world there's a JAVA library that will do what I want and all I have to do is glue it into the openby i-make-robots - Developers
Hi! I want to set up a 3D printer training course at the Vancouver Hackspace. Have you perfected a training manual that we could adopt & remix? We'd rather not reinvent the wheel if possible. Thank you!by i-make-robots - General
edn - I have use for the second servo and I'm using a RUMBA controller. What I don't know is where to attach it. I see from earlier in the thread that EXP3 pins 2/4/6 are for a servo, provided you swap the GND and 5V pins. In the same message Yotiro references a second servo, but doesn't indicate where to attach it. I'm guessing 8/10/12, same config. Can anyone confirm?by i-make-robots - General Mendel Topics

I'm using repetier 0.51 with marlin 1.0.0 RC2 on a Prusa. I have marlin 2012-02-25 running on a Prusa. I just added an SD card reader, updated the firmware, and now when I turn it on I get "workDir open failed". The 4gb SD card is in the slot. The light on the SD board is on. The solders on the SD card pins all look good under magnification. The SD card might not be formatted. What might I be doing wrong? Hi, aplavins! I'm having similar mid-print communication ceasations with RAMPS 1.4 and repetier-host 0.4 on mac 10.7.4 with my Prusa. I've tried changing the USB cable, I've added a fan to the heatsinks, and I've updated the firmware. Have you had any luck adding the SD card to your machine? I'm very interested in a solution. Thanks!by i-make-robots - Controllers
Hi! Love Repetier-Host. I and several members of the Vancouver Hack Space are using the OSX edition quite a lot now. I'm building a Prusa and I need to customize my Slic3r config to match my machine. When I save out the config I can see the file is on the HD but I can't get Repetier-host 0.32 to recognize it and let me use the settings. Where do I put the file so it all connects together? Hi, all! Thanks again for saving my rump on sunday at the VMMF. Overnight my drawbot fell over and my 3D printed spools broke. Eugene printed me some new ones and they're still working fantastic. Which brings me to part 2. See, I sell robot kits like line-followers, and drawing robots. Some of these have 3D printed parts.
