Finally dusting up my programming skills and using it with 3D printing!! Using a 3D printer/CNC with a pen attached to the moving head, the goal was to draw/generate a line art representation of a photo as shown below. Finally all is working on my breadboard, I also manage to rename the printer!! super cool (even the wife thinks it's cool), now printing a case for them. Decided to go the hard way (as usual.....my wife.. ). I have had my prusa I3 working on Ramps/Marlin very pleased with it's performance. Now I like to hook up an LCD, rotary encoder and microsd card reader to the machine. I have sourced all parts as shown in the photo attached rather than buying a complete smart controller.. HI, A few pictures of my prusa I3, new to 3D printing.. Electronics Ramps 1.4 complete DIY kit. yup!! had to solder all even the SMD components first time. Slight modification by adding a base to the printer also the X&Y idler I used small bearing from some old stepper motors.. In the past I've built lots of crazy stuffs in and around the house. Hmmm, what would then be the best case scenario?, Once I am all set up and done with assembling? and ready to do long runs... 1) swap the driver for higher one that still fit on my ramps (..which one?) 2) swap the motors for lower current ones that runs well on the A4988( ..again which motors? ) what combinations do you have or know that should work especially for prints that runs for hoby Topicawox - General

HI, Trying to get my RAMPS powered up, then I noticed the stepper motors I have is rated 2.5A(U). It is the wantai 42BYGHW811, 1.8deg/step. Can go ahead and use the combination on my printer? The Pololu A4988, are the original ones. My power supply is 12V/30A. Thanks!!by Topicawox - General

I read some where in the forums about issues with the PBC track being too thin...(if only i know how it affects aboard) What will be the best board recomended for an absolute beginner? Hi nutzio, I am in the Netherlands also building my first 3d printer(s), I am putting together 2 complete set of Prusa I3 (box frame style) since I have my own CNC, I will use it to cut out the wooden frame out of MDF, then finish it with glossy white paint to protect against moisture.
