Sadly I'll never know, I've all but given up on this printer after dumping nearly $2500 into the thing and still not having a single usable print, I'm pretty sure all you guys that have a functional printer are using magic or something . Last straw was getting in a new stepper driver and having it fry cause one of the motor coils shorted out while the printer was just sitting there for the priorby Bronston - General
Well I was mistaken thought it was the pot but its still doing it. Looking into it further now.by Bronston - Reprappers
Turns out it was just the pot adjustment. Thanks guys, now if I can get my spool to pull correctly I'll be all set. Bronstonby Bronston - Reprappers
Well I got it too work with official firmware but still no dice with the teacup. My steps per mm was so low I had to crank the dimensions settings up really high to get it nailed down, now just a matter of a bit of calibration. Thanks very much guys. Not sure why but my x axis stutters occasionally in the middle of moving. I've got an hd camera on the gear on the x axis stepper and I'm pretty sure the belts not slipping, also I've got aluminum drive gears so It's not missing teeth. Sometimes though even when I move the axis manually it will stop and jitter usually the wrong direction for a split second then work again, sometimes every layer oby Bronston - Reprappers
I'm in waco, if I get my hunk o' junk doing anything worth saving in the near future I'll hook you up, keep in mind though, its a hunk of crap so don't get your hopes too high.by Bronston - Reprappers
K here's the most recent g code. It has the e values and the extruder does sort of turn maybe 1 mm/min not exactly fantastic prints or anything that could really be called a print. Sorry hoped to post back sooner but all the python addons Pronterface seem to have broke python, anyway got it fixed now, and yeah I have both those options activated in skeinforge. I took my replace.csv out of skein and made a new gcode, here's that, though it didn't seem to help. Also dimensions is turned on. Any other ideas? Well on second thought I guess I'm not gonna post it cause the serveby Bronston - Firmware - experimental, borrowed, and future
Hmm, i tried pronterface and I can't get it to run at all. I'm wondering now if the problem is my skeinforge configuration. With some really old official mendel firmware I can get it to do everything its supposed to. I can even make it print from repsnapper but when I make my gcode with skeinforge my extruder doesn't turn. Here's the first few lines of the gcode. Yeah its all hooked up correctly, I can make it extrude with other firmware, just won't do it with teacup. Addendum: I just noticed I didn't have the dimensions option checked in skeinforge. I'm slicing a new gcode right now to see if that fixes it. Still doesn't explain why I can't manually control the extruder in relicatorg though. I'll post if the gcode works.by Bronston - Firmware - experimental, borrowed, and future
I'm using the teacup firmware, mostly unmodified is what I meant by standard. For gen3 electronics. I've tried driving it with all the software I can find, repsnapper, reprap host, replicatorg. I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the hbridge hack, so I doubt I'm using it. I've already spent far more than enough money on this thing, its done getting new hardware, so I will be unable to take the advicby Bronston - Firmware - experimental, borrowed, and future
Hope someone can give me a bit of aid here, been searching and reading for a few hours now and can't come up with anything. So I decided to switch to the teacup firmware to see how it worked for me. My set up is gen3 electronics on a mendel, 3 stepper drivers, a main controller, and an extruder controller. Basically the problem is everything works like its supposed to except I have no control oveby Bronston - Firmware - experimental, borrowed, and future
I'm curious, has anyone attempted any sort of sand casting with aluminum from a printed plastic model. If you are unaware of how this process works essentially you bury a model of what you want cast in aluminum in sand then pour molten metal into the mold which burns out and replaces the original structure, usually done with Styrofoam or something of that sort, but I would like to find out if oneby Bronston - General
Basically this is the situation, as far as I can tell nearly everything possible has gone wrong with my mendel, but I'm just about done now and I need a couple of broken pieces replaced. I need the upper x carriage and I need the piece at the end of the extruder with the filament guide hole on top that holds the driven shaft, called the driven holder I guess, out of Adrian's extruder. Yeah, it was the default m104 setting, all fixed now(sort of). Thanks everybody.by Bronston - RepSnapper
I have kind of a strange issue, and not one I've seen anyone else have so far. I'm trying to use repsnapper and for some reason after I got my nozzle hot and send a print job my heating element is shut off, so the printer goes through the motions, but of course no plastic is extruded. I've tried using a separate power supply just to the extruder, to be sure it had plenty of current and that didn'by Bronston - RepSnapper
Ok, I was actually wondering if that had something to do with it as I have yet to install the optos. Thank you so much for confirming that.by Bronston - Reprappers
I've been building a mendel for sometime now, finally I scraped together the last bit of money and got all my parts. I've finished pretty much all of the mechanical and electronic construction. I decided to test the axes out and discovered that they will only move forward, when I click the button to move the other direction (both in the reprap software and in repsnapper) they don't move.
