Getting steel molds, even from china, will take VERY high volumes of parts. If someone ever does it it will bring the cost of a set to about $30 at quantities of THOUSANDS per year. I don't think anybody has the 100K initial investment for that kind of uncertainty yet. Uncertainty is the key word here. I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for for the wiki, or how to do a wiki. It's pretty straight-forward. I'd suggest a http://reprap.org/wiki/T-Slot bot. Say, a basic gantry design made from 20 mm t-slot, with a maximum footprint of ~16" x 24", (450 mm x 600 mm). Along with well specified linear slides that aren't a special one-off via ebay. You will not improve upon a high accuracy CNC platform with an extruder mounted on it. Oh, certainly. Does any one have a step by step guide to adding a Wades Extruder to a Mach 3 run cnc. Unlikely. I think you're lead developer there. I suspect this is unwelcome news. Actually, re-reading your post more carefully. ... hmmm ... Trying to use Mach3 or emc2 is tricky with your usb-using reprap boards. pointless argument really. I suspect I agree. As one of the moderators here, I don't really want to see this discussion get any more heated and personal. I suspect it will die down - it is highly counterproductive for entrepreneurs and business-type folk to get drawn into heated personal disputes as it alienates potential nozzle-buyers and drags down the community as a whole. Thanks for your advice. Perhaps I'll take another look at EMC. Which brings up another question. Do I have to use a Makerbot mother board at all? Can I just use say a Gecko g540, which has 4 axis and a built in parallel port breakout board. You will need something like an entire RAMPS or Gen 4 Electronics board in order to heat your extruder head and control its temperature. Or you can use the exby SebastienBailard - Controllers

I thought that the Gen 4 mother board was the latest. Perhaps I should wait a bit for either Gen 7 or Monotronics? Which s the better way to go? This is RepRap, we don't really do official. Makerbot would probably rather you get gen 4. Techzone, who did up Monotronics, ... would rather you get the Monotronics. And so on, and so forth. Thanks for your advice. Is the Makerbot mb not Arduino mega based? I think it plugs into a Mega board. Ah, so it is: http://reprap.org/wiki/Generation_4_Electronics (I've not been paying much attention to it as to Gen 7 and Monotronics most recently.) Jim, I'd suggest something like the http://reprap.org/wiki/RAMPS in part because the arduino mega is more flexible and extensible. Although you'd probably end up making your own RAM(Gecko)S which would connect the arduino mega pins with the Gecko drivers. Talk to the folk in the #reprap irc channel about that, if you are interested. Are you doing up a T-Slot bot? We need a good one for the wikby SebastienBailard - Controllers

Is it OK to put links to ultimachine etc on the Wiki?, Only if you're happy with what he ships ya. ... RepRap does evolve marketplace-like aspects. At some point, passers-by will add other board-suppliers to the page, and it will start to look like a Sunday Newspaper Advertising Supplement. At which point, we'll take that part of the page and make it a dedicated A5-Powder-Printer-Buyer's-Guiby SebastienBailard - Powder Printing and Selective Laser Sintering
