QuoteTheTechnicalNoob Your endstopless calibration method should work, but I think I like endstops better: more precise and less error prone, less work. Tks! I agree that utilizing quality end stops is more desirable. QuoteTheTechnicalNoob But the software needs to know what position the arms are in. Thanks for pointing that out! Idea to eliminate all end stops: A centering guide is laid on top of the heat bed that has a cone shaped hole in the middle. You place the hot end nozzle into the cone, which centers the arms equally. If the nozzle profile is inadequate, or heat is an issue, you place a cone over thby A2 - Delta Machines
It's very unusual of Stratasys council not to have been proactive and instigated litigation at the juncture that Stratasys had some cash to sling around. QuoteSolidus Labs The play in the z axis on the print head is caused by the rotation on the shoulder pivots. The play is very bad around the edges of the print bed where the arm angle is small and the horizontal pivots are close together. I added a spring to mitigate this but I think it is making movements nonlinear. I'm unsure of your use of the word “play”, I tend to think of it as the fit upby A2 - Delta Machines

Pic looks great! You could use the epoxy nut to take up the backlash of the steel nut. I'm not sure how I to go about maintaining a relationship between the two? Add graphite to the epoxy to reduce the friction. West System sells it, I've used it, and it works great. Straight epoxy would have too much friction. I'm just wondering if a few vitamins (end stops) can be eliminated with software. Bed leveling, and end stops are they really required, or can we with precision manufacturing, and software eliminate them? Assumptions: perfect equal arm lengths, a flat bed, and 120 degree arm separation: Because the arms make a 3 point contact with the table, is leveling really necessary for grounded deltas?by A2 - Delta Machines
@ nicholas.seward tks for your comments. Quotenicholas.seward Simpson/GDR have a real bad singularity when the hub attachment point and the shoulder joints are coplanar. I think your example is based in the Z axis? It was explained to me that when the nozzle is centered between two arms (i.e. coplanar) there will be a singularity, is that what you mean?
