I read your post completely through and I still don't know how many teeth/inch you suggest. I haven't seen so much print that said so little.by cwaa - Extruded Aluminum Frames
I don't have access to a milling machine..but am building an all metal Delta with 330 mm printing surface and 1000mm verticals. I have a 10" radial arm saw and a drill press. I do have to print drill guides when dimensions are critical. I have evened the ends of extrusion by hand and it can be a bitch. But, I can't bring myself to spend $150 to have my heated bed plate machined when the .25"by cwaa - Extruded Aluminum Frames
More pictures. The jig is printed so the hole guides are 3/4" deep and they will each only drill 3 holes so accuracy should stay very close.by cwaa - Delta Machines
After posting my design I got quite a bit of feed back. With that input I modified my design slightly going from 100mm rod spacing to 80 mm. I reduced the size of the verticals from 2080 to 2060. I have one piece of .25 aluminum 24" x24" for the top and bottom plates, a 13 x 13" .25 plate for the heated bed. From some left over .125 scrap I am making my carriage plates. I have designed a delta and am ordering materials for the build. It has 300mm printable bed and 1 meter uprights. The uprights are 2080 v-slots to give maximum carriage stability, 100 mm rod spacing and lateral strength. I did not want any of the frame to be printed, to maintain rigidity and maximum strength, so I am using 1/4" top and bottom plates and around the base plate more 2080 extrusiby cwaa - Delta Machines
I wonder why they are not popular?by cwaa - General
Thanks, by hits I meant LED flashes. They are harmless, but it gave me the feeling that there was too much flex. I think I will print a calibration cube, and if it is good, I will just let things be. I now have excellent control over first layer height and I don't have to home to the max limit switch. That is time consuming. Great product and I am thinking of all sorts of other uses. Several months ago I bought a Piezo kit. I bought the groove mount because the Hot End I have is a Prometheus. After receiving the kit I tried to attach the hot end and found that although the Prometheus is a J head type hot end, it is not the same dimensions as the mount. I reverse engineered your mount design to fit the Prometheus and just recently mounted it. I redesigned my x axis carriagby cwaa - General
When you get ready to dump that card, let me know and I will take it. I love smoothieware and have had good success with it.by cwaa - Reprappers

Has anyone used the system with a Prometheus hot end. I am developing a mount for it?by cwaa - General

Open Ponterface and look under the yellow grid area and you will find a plus symbol "+". Click it and it will open a window that sets up custom buttons. I have 9-10 of them set up for my machine. I don't understand why people use rods and linear bearing/bushings when you can have wheels with bearings and a much smoother and simpler approach.by cwaa - General
I would suggest two things, 1. raise your nozzle temp 5 to 10 degrees and see if the adhesion improves. 2. put a light coat of acetone over your part when complete and that will help chemically bond the surface into a much stronger object.by cwaa - General
It is so slow, I open another browser while I wait. It won't take much of this to see me gone!by cwaa - General
My printer had 2 motors on the z axis and that caused problems when they got out of sync. It also hampered bed leveling. I recommend one motor and link the screws with a closed loop belt. That is what I did and it has made my printer much more accurate.by cwaa - Reprappers
If you go with a heated bed, go to120 volts. You can use a low output power supply, and still have a fast bed warmup.by cwaa - Reprappers
QuoteGITRDUN I see one of the newer trends is to use a piezo sensor mounted to the hot end mount. Why not mount a piezo under each of the build plate corner mounts? Their pretty inexpensive so using 3 or 4 vs 1 is not going to break the bank. Wouldnt that be easier and sort of universal rather than having to engineer a way to mount a piezo into the hot end mount? Dont know, just an idea. Maybe soby cwaa - General
