I was looking at Johnny Chung Lee's $14 camera stablizer. As absurd as it is, i think the shake weight might be useful in a camera stabilizer. perhaps mount the camera on one of the ends? i don't know how springy it is, i've never used one, but i'm sure we can design something to dampen any excessive bouncyness. I'm struggling with this same issue, as well, as I increase speeds above 40mm/s. Won't Perimeter W/T only effect the perimeter paths? There's something similar under Fill, but i don't think it works exactly the same, since the skeinforge manual says to decrease the number if you get sparse infill.by Buback - General
Do you mean the jumper pins on the board, or the ATMega644p/firmware pin assignments? I'm reasonably sure it's not the jumper pins, since it works with 5D (and now with teacup, which i've installed in the meantime). I've been using plain old 5d since I began printing back in january, but figured it was time to move to some new firmware. trying out teacup and sprinter. Sprinter is easier to set up and get working, all except the Gen6 heater and thermistor. when in repsnapper, i click "turn on heater" but the led on the board doesn't turn on. I installed it in the past, but can't seem to do it now (after a crash :-( ) when i click on the program it says "can't find msvcr71.dll". Anybody know what this is part of? .net? ok i think i understand: your saying that, for example, if the MW emitter is at the top of the printer, higher (z-axis) doped layers will shadow lower doped layers. Also, reflections off of complex model shapes like we print will lead to unpredictable heating. Both are good points i hadn't considered. Here my an idea: A typical powder bed machine using powdered PLA, but instead of spraying epoxy, the print head sprays some type of dopant that absorbs microwaves. once the print is finished, the bed is exposed to microwaves, which heats the doped areas until the plastic fuses. Yes it will snap back to the nearest detent, but i don't think it has to be de-energized (like you said, in firmware) unless you just want to quiet your machine some, since de-energizing it will stop the motor squeel. Is your machine a prusa? The Sells mendel gears the steps down (up?) so that each step effects the z axis much less. Even so, it seems like moving, at most, half a step to the neaby Buback - General
such a small droplet of PLA has a lot of surface area for it's volume, so I think it would cool in transit and just bounce off the surface, unless the print head was very close to the surface. edit: However, this doesn't have to be so bad. if a coat of glue was sprayed on fist, the little solid balls would stick to the glue. it's be like a powder bed printer, except applying the powder selectiveby Buback - General

Plastic gears can't transfer much torque; at some point, the plastic somewhere will start to deform. I was thinking about heavy earth moving equipment, and how they use very wide wheels in order to distribute the weight over a large surface area so that they don't sink into the ground. I went last year. it was about a month after i had heard about reprap, but just after i had ordered all my bits and pieces. It was really overall, not just the printers.
