I should have thought of using a circle. I was only thinking about a square or rectangular base.by flink - Delta Machines
I'd like to chime in on US suppliers. Grainger carries 8020. If you are lucky enough to have one within a reasonable distance, you can order it for deliver for the Will-Call Pickup and you can get it without the added shipping costs. I mean, really, have you checked out the shipping costs that 8020 charges? I get almost all of my metal odds and ends from Grainger. I'm lucky enough to have oby flink - Extruded Aluminum Frames
The mitre saw will work fine if you use a carbide blade. I'm assuming your saw has a blade with 60/80/120 teeth? That's fine. That little proxxon with 36 was okay, but only because the blade is so small. My 12" has an 80 tooth carbide blade that cuts beam quite nicely. I do it outside, though. It's really noisy and I don't want the chips tossed all over the shop. Hearing protection, long sleeves,by flink - Extruded Aluminum Frames
That looks pretty good. I like the extrusion frame because you can reuse it to make a new machine.by flink - Mendel90
Hi Xiando, Go buy a big bucket of silica crystal cat litter. I use pouches of it in my tool drawers. Many wood workers do the same. Desiccant is a frequent topic on wood working forums where the goal is to stop expensive hand tools from rusting. Silica crystal is cheap. You can also build an oven from sheet metal that works similar to an easy-bake oven (i.e., a light bulb in a box) to dry out thby flink - General
I would certainly like to see a few more pictures. I would also like to make a Rostock from extrusions. I guess I need to do more research, I was stuck trying to figure out a way to connect openbeam at a 60 degree angle, but I see that you've used connectors from a different beam system.by flink - Delta Machines
