Les, The optical end point sensors are similar to these :- They have been amazing, I had nothing but issues with the mechanical end stop, you would do a calibration, re-run and it would all be different. Pretty much exactly the same now on each pass with the optical ones. If fact I would say with the optical sensors there isn't a huge need for the auto calibration. Hi Les, I use the differential IR and optical sensors for the end stops. I hardly ever have to recalibrate. Regards, Mattby Matt,Wheatley - Delta Machines
I believe the Cherry Pi 4 XL uses 2040 extrusion for the uprights. It's a big printer Check out "A Bigger Slice Of Pi" thread. Mattby Matt,Wheatley - Delta Machines
Nilez, I used one to get a nice fit on my joints. You need to be careful not to over do it. You could tell with my sockets that the balls weren't going in as far as they should. Thanks Mattby Matt,Wheatley - Delta Machines
Steve, I purchased a E3D-v6 hotend recently for my Cherry Pi and in the documentation it suggests that you tighten the heater block after you have heated the head to stop leaks :- "When the HotEnd is at tempereature, tighten the nozzle whilst holding the heater block with a spanner. This will tighten the nozzle against the HeatBreak and ensure that your HotEnd does not leak. You want to aim forby Matt,Wheatley - Delta Machines
There are a few places available that will custom cut sheet metal material, just send them an email with thickness and diameter and they will give you a price. One such place I found on ebay was :- But there are others. I don't think you will find a 220mm steel round disc off the shelf.by Matt,Wheatley - Delta Machines
At 57 watts it will never get any hotter, I have a 120Watt 260mm aluminium bed and it will not go above 95 Degrees (and takes weeks).by Matt,Wheatley - Delta Machines
I had on overheat issue when I had a ramps controller without a relay or SSR, the the effect was different, it would get to around 80 Degrees and then just cut out all power to the bed, which would then drop back to room temperature. Your seeing the bed get to a temp and not get any hotter, which I would say either means your bed can't get any hotter because of the element size or not enough poweby Matt,Wheatley - Delta Machines

Just for anybody who is interested , here are photos of my Optical end stop modification. I haven't tested repeatability yet, that's tonight Job. I will post results when I have them. If anybody wants the stl files I can provide them, it's a very simple modification, just a little bracket to hold the optical sensor and a bit added to the rod carriers.by Matt,Wheatley - Delta Machines
David that's amazing. I will upload it as soon as I get home and give it a try.by Matt,Wheatley - Delta Machines
Thanks David for looking into it. I have just replaced my end stops for optical switches, I am hoping this will give less error than the micro switches. Mattby Matt,Wheatley - Delta Machines
David, I tried S1 for the probe test at the end of the G30 and it does the calibration but I don't get any output into the Gcode console or from the USB (Com). Just on a side note, I have created a spreadsheet to give the X Y Z, XY, YZ, ZX coordinates for the probe positions. Just put your printer bed radius in A1 and your done.by Matt,Wheatley - Delta Machines
Thanks David, That makes sense, I have dropped the current on all the motors now. The Modulated IR sensor I have , which I have set to P1 only appears to report 0 or 530, which I guess is fine, and the calibration runs but I appear to get wildly different result after each run:- 4:29:42 PMM665 Diagonal 304.33, delta radius 149.95, homed height 137.65, bed radius 130.0, X -0.5°, Y -0.6° 4:29:25by Matt,Wheatley - Delta Machines
Hi All, I have just put a duet controller into my Cherry Pi and I am having a strange issue. If I move the motors, everything moves okay but once the motor stops at the correct place it is still making a noise for 10+ seconds after. If I hit the emergency stop the noise stops. I have taken a video of it here:- Anybody know what I have done wrong? I have the motor ratings in the config.g filby Matt,Wheatley - Delta Machines
Doug, Do you have a picture of your carriages using the 4 v-wheels, you have peeked my interest. Mattby Matt,Wheatley - Delta Machines
It's an aluminium print bed at the moment. It's an amazing little thing, really easy to set up. I have it connected to a ramps board which appears to be working great. You can tell the ramps is at it's limit though, if you try and use the encoder while it's printing you have a 5 second delay on the screen output.by Matt,Wheatley - Delta Machines
I have to say a big thank you to DC42, the ir probe works amazingly well. I made a mount which fits under the effector and it calibrated in under 30 mins to 0.03, a bit of fine calibration after that with the bed warm and its running great. Mattby Matt,Wheatley - Delta Machines
After cleaning the ball holes I Just managed to run auto auto calibration to 0.03 in around 30 minutes using the hot-end and the bed as the z probe switch. All I have to do now is see if it prints.by Matt,Wheatley - Delta Machines
I have a die tap handle I'm hoping the bit will fit into, I'm hoping that will do the job.by Matt,Wheatley - Delta Machines

If the ball sockets on the effector and carriages weren't great and the balls didn't fit snugly into them what would you expect the printer to do? I have an issue with repeatability in the bed level, it appear to be different every time I home. I don't have any play in the frame, the belts are tight and don't appear to be slipping. When I manually calibrate and then home, come back to the same plby Matt,Wheatley - Delta Machines
