Quote09zx-6r paul... what do you make of an extruder motor going in reverse for a second and then forward in normal direction for the target length ? I had an issue somewhat similar when I first built my machine. It would seem to alternately begin moving in reverse, then switch to forward or vice versa. Turned out it was a short in the stepper cable I made to extend the length to the top of theby Vlerherg - Delta Machines
Quotepaul_delta Finally I printed this 20x20mm model at 120mm/s. I inspected my Eeprom configuration and realized that my acceleration was too low (300mm/s2) - after experiments to make the printer quieter for night time I forgot to set it back Also I tried to increase acceleration to find the maximum that printer can handle. For my printer and Folgertech recommended vRef driver voltage it's saby Vlerherg - Delta Machines
Quotepaul_delta Here is my video. Just curious, but could you tell me what your current accel/jerk settings are? Want to compare with mine, as I just used similar settings to my cartesian printer as a baseline, but since the physics are very different with a delta I do not think they are optimal. Also curious because I know if they are too aggressive it can cause issues with top speed never beinby Vlerherg - Delta Machines
QuotefattmannWhoa. Good to know. My buddy swears by Hatchbox, so that's what I've stared off with. Will keep that in mind when performing further tests. It is more of an issue regarding your particular bowden setup, speed, temp, retraction, etc, as stated before. I can personally vouch for Hatchbox (as many others can, I am sure). For straight PLA/ABS I buy theirs exclusively and have only everby Vlerherg - Delta Machines
QuoteCaptain_TimI currently have a Two Up... My goodness is this thing a pain in my lower region! I'm getting this Kossel to add a Delta, this will be my second printer and I think delta's look awesome! This Kossel will be used to print parts to fix/upgrade my Two Up, then in the summer, I think I'll turn my Two Up into a 3up, as designed by "ddegonge888" here: 3up. QuotefattmannAs a related question, what springs are you using for bed leveling? I've seen some on a couple websites, but figured it would be something I could pick up locally if I knew the preferred spring rates/lengths and what not. Can't really comment on the probe/servo, as I have never used one myself. Even on my cartesian printer I use manual leveling and lock the leveling screws in placeby Vlerherg - Delta Machines
QuoteCaptain_TimDo you have any pictures of what it looks like? It sounds amazing. I was thinking of getting one of these, cutting it to fit the bottom and top, hooking it up to a switch and 3 potentiometers (to control the colour). 12V RGB LED Strip - 5M That could be pretty cool! Quotepaul_delta Finally, I redesigned the hotend mount to get rid of unneeded z-probe and added second fan for filament cooling: More details are on Thingiverse: It looks slightly flimsy because I tried to make it as light as possible, but even PLA printed it's stong enough. That definitely looks nice, light and adjustable. I have been using this one that I found on Thingiverse, but did noby Vlerherg - Delta Machines
QuoteCaptain_Tim QuoteVlerherg Haven't done that with the Delta yet, but it is on my list! I added lights to my other printer to great effect. Like just connect them to a switch which connected to a power supply, or were they connecteby Vlerherg - Delta Machines
QuoteCaptain_Tim So from what I've gathered, Repetier seems to be the better FW for this printer. paul_delta's files will surely benifit new members and help their printers get up and running sooner. I've always used Marlin on my printers without issue, but this is my first Delta. QuoteCaptain_TimHas anyone put LED's on their printer? Maybe some RGB LED's with potentiometers to change the colour. That would be cool for presenting the printer to friends and family. QuoteCaptain_Tim I liked a modification I saw on page 23 of this thread. They were snap in covers for the grooves in the frame of the printer. I thought it would give the printer a much cleaner look. When I received my rev B kit it actually came with three lengths of plastic snap-in pieces for the 2020. QuoteLegrand I have my next problem. When I try to move the printer head to a specified location in the Z-axis only, it doesn't move any where near straight down. The guy here that knows a tiny bit about 3D printers stated that it might have something to do with the steps. I currently have them set as: #define DEFAULT_AXIS_STEPS_PER_UNIT {80, 80, 80, 100} It seemed to me that if the three aby Vlerherg - Delta Machines
Quoteplrmaker7 You guys that have ditched the probe, are you still using the acrylic bed mounts and/or spacers? For the time being I am still using the acrylic mounts. I just went to a 3-point manual leveling system with longer screws and springs. I actually used three different size springs per, nesting them together (what I had on-hand). Makes for a very firm mount and has not lost its settingby Vlerherg - Delta Machines
QuoteMotorwinter Hi Everyone. I am a complete and total AMATEUR when it comes to 3D Printing. I ordered my Folger Tech Kossell 2020 from their website, it didn't arrive in the time specified but it wasn't an awful lot of a wait and when it arrived it was complete, I downloaded the rev-b manual and I thoroughly enjoyed putting it together, every part went together well and I'm thinking that as aby Vlerherg - Delta Machines

Quotepaul_deltaThe aluminum plate from FolgerTech is not very flat - I have gaps there and there, so now I'm looking for good glass to cover it... Quotedavidf01 I have read that the E3D v6 lets you print at a faster speed. Do you guys that have the E3D V6 print at a faster speed? If so what speed to you print at? Quotedavidf01 Ok Thanks for the help folks. I ordered the E3D (v6) Hotend - 12 Volt / 1.75mm Universal w/Bowden Extras. Now is it pretty straight forward to hook this up? Quotewrangellboy On the topic of extruders. Does anyone know the practical upper limit of the stock folger unit? I've got a roll of PETG I've been experimenting with and it likes to print really hot. QuoteKoenigThere are users that has indicated that the "all metal E3Dv6" gives you some trouble when using long bowden tube and printing PLA, so depending on what you plan to use most it is a good idea to also mention the Lite6 which is a bit more forgiving. You are correct, I have heard the same, though I have never used the Lite6 (cannot go much above ABS temp due to the liner), but will probaby Vlerherg - Delta Machines
Quotedavidf01Vlerherg, I will keep you posted for sure. I was reading the information on the E3D v6 website and they were talking about how the new design allows for printing flexible material That you couldn't do with a normal Bowden design. I will order one of these and let you know as long as it is not to hard to swap out with the current hot end. I cannot recommend the E3Dv6 hot end enough.by Vlerherg - Delta Machines
Quotedavidf01I would love to try printing some flexible material Flexible material is very fun to print with, but can be a headache as well, especially with a bowden setup. The softer filaments (like NinjaFlex) are not really usable (in my experience) with bowden, as the filament surface creates far more friction in the tube than solid filament and will not feed correctly, if at all. Quotecman8 Thats probably it then. I had mine unplugged for 1 layer of printing by accident and it makes the throat get hot enough to make the plastic pliable which in turn makes a jam like you see. Keep the heatsink fan running and you should not have that issue anymore. That sounds dead on. We've always called it "heat-creep" and it arises from insufficient cooling of the cold-end of the hot-eby Vlerherg - Delta Machines
Quotethevisad The fan should be connected to d9 i believe it is and not always on. With this you can control the speed and fan from inside the firmware. Otherwise you are locked into having the fan forced on for you. I suppose if you are not using a print cooling fan it would, indeed, be optimal to wire the hot end fan into D9. Then you could just have cooling disabled in slic3r and have the fanby Vlerherg - Delta Machines
QuoteCyber7 I'll be getting my Kossel this Monday. The manual really needs some work and lacks a schematic. So I made a wiring schem specific to this kit. Let me know if you find any mistakes. Success! I just wanted to thank everyone who has participated in this forum, as your cumulative advice has been invaluable. I have built a couple of other printers, one of which was my own design.
