I'm using a reset button as a kind of emergency stop. It's tied to GND and Duet's reset pin, so the controller resets when you press it. This effectively also cuts power to the motors, heaters and fans because PS_ON defaults to off, making the power supply turn off the higher voltage. I also have a big switch that cuts all power to the power supply in case stuff goes seriously awry.by tomasf - Delta Machines
Have you considered a remote direct drive such as Zesty Nimble? I can highly recommend it.by tomasf - Delta Machines

Hi. Fellow swede here. Conrad has a pretty good selection of power supplies. I ordered my last PSU from Elfa, but only because the model I wanted wasn't in stock at Conrad. As for stepper motors, I recommend OMC StepperOnline. They can ship most steppers from Germany, so you get pretty fast shipping and avoid customs fees.by tomasf - Delta Machines
Quoteo_lampeThat was a spin off idea in combination with the inner roller bearing rails. Their carrier is so narrow, it would be a shame to put the rods in horizontal plane. It wouldn't make the effector much smaller, but the classic carrier would need a lot more offset to the tube wall to run freely. Would it, though? Let's say the carriage is 60 mm wide. You only need 3.031 mm of distance froby tomasf - Delta Machines
Quoteperolalars I am really interested of what brand the linkage heads are (if thats the right word for it) at the ends of your carbon fiber rods? And maybe where you bought them? Regards Per They're Traxxas 5347 rod ends, bought at Kullagergrossisten:by tomasf - Delta Machines
A few days ago, my Nimble finally arrived! I'm apparently the first customer to receive it. The adapter I designed and prototyped using the mock Nimble model actually fit the real thing. I later had to adjust the adapter slightly to avoid Nimble touching my delta rods. Nimble looks solid, with a nice grainy surface finish. The breech block was in a darker red color than I expected from the photoby tomasf - Delta Machines
Not sure what the problem could be. I'd proceed and see if it works . Replacing the roller carriages with linear rails was probably the best upgrade I did to my Kossel Mini R3. It reduced effector tilt dramatically. Replacing the extruder was probably #2. Those printed gears wore out quickly.by tomasf - Delta Machines
The 1730 arrived today, and it fits. I needed to fine-tune the Z offset of the IR sensor, but that's it. They've added a red metal cover to the fan, which wasn't present in my previous Kickstarted unit. This is most likely to prevent overtightened bolts from cracking the fan plastic.by tomasf - Delta Machines
I'm now in the process of re-thinking the extruder/hotend setup. I have an early bird Zesty Nimble on order, which hopefully ships reasonably soon. I've also decided to take the opportunity to replace the DyzEnd-X with the 1730 hotend, which is so much better. While the DyzEnd-X doesn't jam as often as it used to, it's still not great. It leaked quite a lot in the beginning for a "leak-free" hotby tomasf - Delta Machines
You usually mount those carriages (using those 20 mm spaced holes) onto a back piece which holds the rollers. That said, I would recommend linear rails over rollers any day!by tomasf - Delta Machines
QuoteDjDemonD How are you getting on with the hotend now? I had a genuine e3d v6 which jammed 3-4 times, in the end I tried a little oil and no problems since (groundnut oil). Feels wrong but it does seem to work. Mini hotend has been problem free so far, but I haven't put that many hours on it yet. It's better now. It still jams every now and then, mostly when switching filaments, but it's acceby tomasf - Delta Machines
Hah. The replacement carriage from RobotDigg finally arrived today, after almost eight weeks since I emailed them.by tomasf - Delta Machines
QuoteLykle For future reference, if you need V-slot profiles etc in Europe, try Ratrig.com Based in Portugal I think. They supplied me with profiles and seem to be on the ball. Interesting, thanks. I do remember visiting that site while googling around for extrusion suppliers in Europe. I probably passed on them since they don't seem to offer 2060 sizes.by tomasf - Delta Machines
QuoteDjDemonD That's a shame. I've got the Deltaprintr mini hot end which I started using yesterday, no jams so far and its very small. Heats up quickly too. No thermistor table for it so had to make my own for Marlin. No documentation either, not really a problem but easier to mess it up if you were a beginner, you know attach the thermistor to the heater output etc.... I'd be interested in tryby tomasf - Delta Machines
Ugh, this Dyze hotend is driving me crazy. I've had several jams for no apparent reason, and a lot of leakage for a "leak-proof" hotend. I've spent so many hours trying to get it to work again, only to have it jam again the next day. I might switch to the 1730 hotend, which I know to be reliable.by tomasf - Delta Machines
Nice! I am also working on a mini delta that uses the linear-rails-as-frame idea. But it's still in early stagesby tomasf - Delta Machines
I finally ordered the remaining parts, and the Duet Wifi and IR sensor arrived last week. I replaced the temporary 0.8.5 board and everything went smoothly. The linear rails were estimated to arrive a few days ago, but have yet to appear. In the meantime, I mounted an old set of shorter (400 mm) rails that I already have, so I can at least get the machine up and running with a limited build heighby tomasf - Delta Machines
You could probably just connect the Duet to your computer directly with a cable without a router or hub between them. Make sure your computer does Auto-MDIX, or use a crossover cable.by tomasf - Duet
Interesting. Thanks, Dj, I'll keep that in mind. Nice. Deltaprintr mini looks even tinier than DyzEND. I like the way it's mounted; I don't particularly like groove mounts. I wish hotends in general had better options for mounting, both for mounting the hotend itself and for attaching other things (fans and sensors) to its sides.by tomasf - Delta Machines
The glass discs I ordered arrived yesterday, so I attached the prepared PEI sheet to one using that 300LSE tape. The PEI sheet was only about 300x300 mm, so it doesn't cover the entire glass area, but I'm okay with that. I also made a prototype of an effector mount for the DyzeEND-X hotend together with a print cooling fan and an IR probe (mocked as a green printed part, and mounted incorrectlby tomasf - Delta Machines
Indeed. I think I will try to find a BSP 1/8 female to M8x1.25 male adapter instead, to use the push-fit connectors I already have. Seems easier to find.by tomasf - Delta Machines
Quotedougal1957 Tomas Try M8 4mm pushfit fitting Thanks, Doug! However, judging from its name ("4MM X M8X1"), that one has fine thread pitch (1 mm) whereas DyzEND has coarse (1.25 mm) thread. I think? :-/by tomasf - Delta Machines
Yesterday, I attached the heater pad to the aluminium disc using the 300LSE tape. I still don't know if the tape is rated for these kinds of temperatures, but it has worked perfectly for attaching PEI sheets to glass. It seems to work so far, and the bed heats to 65°C in 2 minutes. I also received a 300x300 PEI sheet, which I have painted black (to make it work with IR sensors). Still waitingby tomasf - Delta Machines
QuoteBuildAThing Tomasf, Did you purchase your extrusions from Robotdigg also? Do you recommend them? I was thinking of building a Delta and yours look wonderful so far! Thank you! No, I ordered the extrusions from Xinlong through AliExpress, because RobotDigg don't have 2060 ones (if I remember correctly). They arrived extremely well packaged, and seem to be of good quality.by tomasf - Delta Machines
Over the weekend, I let my father drill three countersunk 3 mm holes into the aluminium bed. Turned out great. It turned out one of the RobotDigg carriages had a faulty thread. It won't catch onto the screw, so I requested a replacement. I have mounted the Duet and hooked it up to Ethernet, motors and the bed heater (with the positive heater lead connected to the power supply to overcome 0.8.by tomasf - Delta Machines
Sparkfun used to have a camera you could trigger by grounding an input pin, and it would save images to an SD card. Something like that should be easy to interface with a Duetby tomasf - Duet
Received packages today containing extrusions and stepper motors. Had to pay 505 SEK ($56) import duty for the extrusions, which is close to the full price of the extrusions ($60). Oh well. The power supply is finally on its way. After two weeks of silence from Conrad, where I ordered it, I got a message telling me they couldn't get hold of any from their supplier, so I had to order it from anotby tomasf - Delta Machines
Quotedougal1957 If the 300 LSE is either 468 or the better 8153 variants then that is fine to attach the heater. I would check what current that heater needs mind and make sure you are within the Spec of the Mosfets on your electronics board. It will draw approx 12.5 amps at 24 Volts A lot of people when going to that size of bed tend to opt for a AC heater and SSR. Hmm. I'm not sure what kindby tomasf - Delta Machines
The RobotDigg package did indeed arrive today. I've now got aluminium corners, the bed heater, effector, rail carriages, a bunch of fans, and some other stuff. The bed heater seems nice. Now I have to figure out how to attach it to the aluminium plate. I can get a 300x300 mm 300LSE transfer tape from a local reseller. I've used that for attaching PEI to glass, so that might work.
