To avoid misunderstanding - I said it approaches, not reaches its Tg. ie, because it is a thermoplastic. The point at which 240c filament hits it, will push that isolated point of contact much closer to its Tg. To remove the print from PrintBite, just pick it up as if it was placed on the surface beforehand. No prying, no layer damage. Garolite is a very different material to PrintBite.by Mutley3D - General
Quoteepicepee It sounds like the general consensus is: PEI is great, except for the occasional difficulty detaching. BuildTak is like PEI (when heated; I do have a heated bed) except cheaper and easier to damage. PrintBite does not adhere as strongly, especially to ABS. Anyone disagree? An ABS part cannot be detached from a hot PrintBite surface. It may be that a PrintBite surface needs to bby Mutley3D - General

Quotesigxcpu Maybe odd question: any chance to unglue the PrintBite from the glass bed? I want to transfer it on the aluminium hotbed, if possible (yes, I've made a mistake). Dont think you have made a mistake. On glass it should be fine. Do you easily reach temp? if so, I maybe wouldnt worry.by Mutley3D - General
Pierre, your 5mm boro should be ok, ie thick enough, ive had two reports of boro glass breaking, one many months ago, one more recently. Whether this was due to PB / Boro CoE differences or not i really dont know. If the glass had sharp edges, it might have broken under any circumstance. The incidences were very far apart (isolated), but after the recent one I changed recommendations to be on safby Mutley3D - General

asbo - ok noted, thx ElmoC - increase bed temp to 65 or 70 keeping it there for duration of print,. With PLA the cooling fan may cool the bed a little when started on early layers. Increasing nozzle to 210 to get you that extra bit of melt for the bottom layer should see you good.by Mutley3D - General
DaveOB I was actually going to suggest a diluted white vinegar solution, 50:50 with water. I knew it cleans windows really well without smears, but I havent tested it on PB...yet! (and local co-op didnt have any when i went down there for some) So I erred on the side of caution and didnt suggest it in case someone said "but it will smell like a chip shop", but it would certainly be what I wouldby Mutley3D - General
Hi Pierre Acetone + kitchen towel is most effective. It removes greasey residue without smearing or leaving a thin film behind. A non smearing window cleaner will also work. Please avoid Isopropyl alcohol, White Spirit/White gas/Methanol as they will leave a residue/thin film. These chemicals could be considered more hazardous than Acetone, which at worst has a smell but it not known as a carciby Mutley3D - General
Going back to original topic - there are many manufacturers and suppliers of PTFE tubing made to different standards. Some use virgin materials, some dont. It is also hard for the untrained eye to determine the difference between PTFE and cheaper alternative lookalike materials. Quality PTFE is not cheap. As reported in this thread, plenty have no problems with PrintBite. 99% of customers very happy. But one cant please everyone is an old saying. The claim about microcracks is complete fantasy. Context - I released PrintBite. Filafarm guy contacts me demanding I increase my prices to same as his product. Nebbian - There are several reasons one can have such artifact as you described, Depending on cause there may be several ways around it. MightyMouth - Nice work and great example! Trhuster - Given your bed shuts off at 120 meaning you have to limit to 118, can you increase your temp limit in firmware? Sounds like you are just shy of the temp threshold as your top surface temp may be -10ish from thermistor reading Origamib - looks like your bit of lift there is from where the edge of the heatbed is not as hot, or possibly even fiby Mutley3D - General
Trhuster - one thing you could do if you fall just shy of optimum temp, is cover the bed with something while its heating, this can help keep the heat in the bed and soak a higher temp into the top surface. Remove and print, whilst it may cool slightly, it should remain hot enough for that bottom layer to get firmly stuck. Otherwise as justmentioned by DaveOB, some insulation below might also helby Mutley3D - General

A curious issue indeed! As DC42 mentions, you have done all the right things so far. The original MendelMax 1.5 design had some issues with belt setup on both X and Y axis. If belts were too tight they would pull the motor or idler bearings around and away from a parallel path/track. Is the vibration (that reduces with less belt tension) possibly related to this, ie the belt is scuffing/catchingby Mutley3D - General
Quoteleadinglights I am about to try PrintBite on two of my printers but Anna & Karl's question about sensors made me think: Is PrintBite O.K. with brief contact with a hot end? QuoteDjDemonD My experience with the flex3drive is that it can do the necessary retraction, it just takes a fraction of a second to do it. I can retract 1.4mm @ 10mm/s with e-acceleration at 250.
