electrical problems with the heater element. Those draw a huge amount of power and thus may need some more than just an ordinary wall socket. And you should keep the regulator too. Finding another poti that can handle that beast may be hard thermal problems. be sure to have enough air around the heater to not get burnt by accident while preheating the thermoplast. afaik you can't with the current host. In fact is doesn't make any sense, since you cannot print that part if it's floating... so, what you can do is, add a thread to that part so that the software will use the end of that thread as bottom. 'sidby sid - Reprappers

Well if your emailprogram can handle rss feeds (which most if not all can) then yes. Or you can use any free rss reader available there's a nice overview (not really complete but good enough) here: Then all that's left to do is add this link: http://dev.forums.reprap.org/feed.php?0,replies=1,type=rss (all forums, all topics, with replies) or if you like to be more specific: http://dev.forumsby sid - Administration, Announcements, Policy
there's insulated constantan wire available, afaik the lacquer will withstand the temperature, but it will get brittle, that is no problem I guess since it's fixed in JB Weld or firecement and thus will not move that much... But that needs to be verified first since it expands when heated and not just a little Resistors a far more elegant, but quite hard to find around here (well at least thoseby sid - Mechanics
There are always some parts to play around with; but the scanner mechanics? I don't see what other purpose than optical it would serve. Same for the laserdiodes, since they are normally pretty weak a scanner or a self made laserpointer is all I could think of But the heated roller... if it can be modified to heat the printbed of a darwin; that'd be nice. Hi Fabian, schau Dich doch mal in den Blogs um, da findest Du den Schrittmotor extruder, die Firmware dazu sollte auf sourceforge liegen; den Controller dafür gibt es im Store. Den kompletten Extruder bei makerbot. 'sidby sid - Altes Forum

Nice idea... I guess *kopfkratz* Well, but since the part hopefully gets centered on the nozzle (a matter of precision) any non 90° orientation will get lost with that step, so no fancy 45° layouts possible Do you remember that beautiful pick 'n placer from the cnc or robotik forum you mentioned some months ago? Wade, isn't that a beauty..? Amazing indeed. but it can't draw or mill anything that's bigger than his "armlength" unfortunately. IIRC Matt was here quite a while ago maybe he has some "off his site" notes on this topic unfold, true they are bigger, but since I do drive a car more often than a boat, that's what came to my mind first 'sidby sid - Mechanics
that'd be awesome; but I'm afraid this still is science fiction. I cannot imagine how to synchronize multiple rc cars or thelike to build ONE single piece. Not without having any precise reference; and if it's not a solid frame... I guess you'll spend more than just a few to lay it out. The base must be perfectly flat or at least scanned to know where the bumps are, the outer frame should be notby sid - Mechanics
this is important for industrial p'n'p systems; but if it's intention is to be a reprap toolhead....? Most of us wont order 5000 identical parts but just as much as we need to build what ever there is to build (plus two spares ) So we'll have many short tapes, if we get tapes at all, that is; I often don't. But since we don't have that many parts at all, we can manually feed the head, and the hby sid - Pick-and-Place Electronic Assembly (and robots!)
on the other hand... if you have to cut them by hand.... buy just ONE stainless steel an one galvanized first and give it a try Don't get me wrong I love stainless steel (not only because it's beautiful too) but I hate to cut that by hand... that much that I'd never build a darwin with stainless steel without a perfect sized powertool to cut it 'sidby sid - Mechanics
fullspeceng, use hexcolors if you don't already. Most colornames are browserspecific (except white, blue, black, red, yellow and green) keltor, you can overwrite that sort of colorschemes with your webbrowser In opera it's called user-css and in Firefox you would neeed a plugin to edit or disable the css 'sidby sid - General

shipping is indeed something to consider; but there's no need to order from overseas (well, since you're on an island... ah you know what I mean ) the T2.5 belt for example costs twice as much here in germany (18.50 Euro/meter) but the T5 is cheaper (8,55 Euro/meter) and there are no shipping costs at all. go ahead take a look at maedler.de (since they have an english frontend, I guess they areby sid - Mechanics
Now that's even more impressive. I always wanted to know what those tiny little white zombies are made for at all, I used to have them laying around in the drawers of my workbench.. until I sponsered a trip to the local dump. As long as I'm getting it to move at all, I'd be impressed... *note to myself* visit Conrad on tuesday! 'sidby sid - Delta Machines
Well it'll be much much harder to spin the threaded rods of a darwins z-Axis with a cable than it is with the belt, and that alone is a not too easy task If you have enough tension that the cable will not slip (even with 4 or more windings at each pulley) you will have enough tension to bend the threaded rods and this rising the friction in the cornerblocks making it impossible to turn them. The servos I posted above should move the toolhead almost as fast as in the second video, well depending on the arm length of course; but I'd say so. The accuracy depends on the accuracy of the servo, it's controller and the joints of the arms But I'd say since a zeropoint calibration does take less than half a second (for all three servos), it's maily a question of having the right software. very nice... looks quite similar to the tripod that viktor suggested some time ago. Easy to make (three hobby servos 5Euros each for 35Ncm @ 0.17s datasheet:) 18 joints (4Euros/5 datasheet(german only):) , two plates and 12 small rods or tubes, some cables... thats around 50Euros.. since the servos get cheaper if you buy more, even less for "massproduction" So no big deal on parts. That's how my plotter does it: (nick was so kind to take a highres picture) photos.nickfines.co.uk/misc/HP9872C_Top.JPG And even old hp Scanners do it that way.
