true, exactly that's why I think that's the best option here. Let me explain why: Take your tree, with lots of alternatives for every step in that tree: day one: user takes the first lets say four steps on three pages day two: user wants to go back two steps because he thinks he's done something wrong now he needs to remember wich option he chose or has to search around for the page that looksby sid - General

I must admit, I'm still searching for a viable path with the hooks mediawiki left for code additions. A javascript is in almost working condition but it's not too small, and leaves a bad layout if js is deactivated on the client machine short: I'm not quite there yet 'sidby sid - General

Well Viktor, I thought more like "instead of steel wire"! I tear apart my z-belt with my hands two days ago, no way that that was tearproof up to 300kg! I tried the same with a strapping cord like that.. ending in searching my scissors I think the real problem will be printing the teeth in such a way that they wont seperate. the ReRap host made portable - 17 years ago
Hi, All the hassle installing Java and the additional libraries needed to run the reprap host on a windows computer made me think about making everything portable, and thanks to jsmooth I think I've succeeded. Tested on three different machines (all windows xp with no sp, sp1 and sp2, none of wich has any java jre or jdk installed) All you have to do is unpack in desired folder (or usb stick) anby sid - RepRap Host

What about using those PP strapping ribbons they are pretty rigid (tearproof up to 300kg) and although almost inductile bendable. maybe we can print directly onto that 'sidby sid - Plastic Extruder Working Group

I tried around the last few days ... and I figured that although ReplicatorG is based on Java it doesn't need to have Java installed on the client machine, it's enough to carry the Java folder on an usb stick with repG. unfortunately that's not enough for the repraphost maybe just because repg is an exe and the rrhost a jar.. I don't have no java compiler to try making the host an exe and puttinby sid - RepRap Host

Well now I think I understand.. you drilled two holes, but they are not on the same centerline of the pipe , one is displaced... Yes? If so, let me tell you what my shop supervisor at the university used to say "boy, if you can't hold a drill, try it with a saw!" Make a small peening mark with a sharp Nail and a hammer or a peening tool, Sometimes it's enough to use some duct tape to prevent the drillbit from slipping. 'sidby sid - Reprappers

I've seen a digital camera the other day mentioned in very condensed report about the photokina That camera had a structured light flasher onboard so the images taken contain a very fine projected grid on the photographed surface. Then the picture is meant be edited with specialized software (just like digiscan2000 ) in fact is was some other software... but it was a very short report and my brby sid - 3D Scanners, Book Scanners, and Optics

As far as I understood Ian is talking about let's say the cornerblocks of the "official" darwin, due to their shape and inner holes they're not machinable with a standard mill, not even in full 3d. What IS possible indeed is to MILL an extruder (well the parts for an extruder of xourse) and then use the cnc as a cartesian for EXTRUDING the rest of the machine (cornerblocks ) Or am I wrong now?by sid - General

oh boy, get a quote on ptfe (teflon) first, that is pretty expensive stuff, and is only needed for the extruder (just because PE would melt). So best thing is to go with HDPE that's not as expensive as ptfe and much easier to drill than aluminium. at least in my opinion 'sidby sid - Mechanics

one could check wich OS is currently running on the clients machine, but that's a bit messy. that being said, if we won't have the user to choose what he want's to build, because he might not know. He surely knows wich operating system he has. so why shouldn't he choose for himself. that is: no recommendation for ANY OS but links to the big three. I know I know..
