check diodes 2 and 6 (both large, both 5404) I think one of them is either damaged by heat (those thick wires are not easy to solder with low powered(<25W) soldering irons without the diode getting too hot) or has a cold joint or worse a broken solderpad or (i don't hope so) the l298 itself is damaged 'sidby sid - Controllers
pe cord (Dyneema) doesn't stretch, that's why it's used for sailing riggs, bulletproof vests and some other stuff. It withstand 15times the force steelwire would and even 40% more than aramid. I think, that would be my first choice so far 'sidby sid - Mechanics
it would work for exterior support with a printed frame around the actual object. But you'll have to make sure that the warping doesn't release the object from the build tray, else it wont help either way calculating the ammount of liquid (i'd guess water) will be quite thrilling 'sidby sid - Plastic Extruder Working Group
check if you wired the motor correctly if you're confident with the wiring check the board again for dry joints 'sidby sid - Controllers
The drive screw doesn't melt, it transports the filament to the heaterbarrel. The heaterbarrel melts the filament 'sidby sid - Reprappers

I've seen those 4th Axis rotary tables in action, it's not that they move back and forth like a linear stepper should. They're just rotating (mostly very fast) That means 1) by rotating in just ONE direction there's no backlash: Say hello to wormdrive 2) It could be done with an ordinary DC Motor and an encoder, just like the one for the extruder 'sidby sid - Mechanics
is it? one pound sterling is about two dollars, so 1kg ABS is about 28 US$ that's 12.70 $/lb for 5lb that's 63,50 $ compared to 45$ at the rrrf store. 1kg HDPE is about 15.28 US$ that's 6.93 $/lb for 5lb that's 34.65 $ compared to 25$ at the rrf store 'sidby sid - Plastic Extruder Working Group
Hmm, because the working volume is not much depending on the plastic parts of darwin but more or less only on the length of the rods (well up to a certain stage of course) I got confused by the question. So if John is right, I apologize but yes then it would be about three pounds, but under four for sure. 'sidby sid - Reprappers
Well and the just printed layer would move around... is that a good idea? See 'sidby sid - Powder Printing and Selective Laser Sintering
bit dark isn't it? but nice good to see what's actually in the kit (as soon as I can actually see what you filmed with my standalone flv-player ) 'sidby sid - Reprappers
ABS density 1040 to 1120 kg m^3 230x230x100 mm is 0,00529m^3 thats about 5.5 to 6 kg 1kg is about 2.205 lb 'sidby sid - Reprappers

true! I was afraid to test my completed kit for almost a week! fortunately everything works as it should. At least that's what I guess (didn't checked the temp sensor but that isn't the most complicated pcb, is it ?) I'll have to wait for the steel rods to finish myself, but I'm in no hurry, so that I take this one really slow (did I just say that?) I still have no clue how to build the extrudby sid - Mechanics
How? Build round plate with a flange (is that correct here?) drill a hole for the stepper axis, and attach it firmly. Okay, some non moving plates would be more than useful to fix the rotary to the cartesian, also a ballbearing between the bed and the stepper could improve the quality. but all in all you have a very simple rotary table with a low resolution. jaja, clamping jaws required 'sidby sid - Mechanics
Hi Viktor, nope I was told it's PE500 (or 300, the vendor wasn't that sure about the molekular weight) I made some test holes the other day and it cuts nicely. But yes, I'll use a slightly oversized drillpress Was hat mich verraten, der Kby sid - Mechanics
Ah, now I get it scrap is the offcut, the carrieover just what remains. (mostly it remains on my shelf... i don't know why ) and crap is seriously to be disposed. thanks for lighting this up 'sid btw: Daniel, you now do have flaps for your opto endswitches, don't you?by sid - Mechanics
Okay, simpler: direct drive! the only backlash is from the stepper itself... 'sidby sid - Mechanics
Nasty little bastard (chopping board) clogged my buzz-saw whilst cutting. (one cut, ten minutes cleaning, another cut, another ten minutes... five times ) just a small piece of squared rod as a guide firmly attached and then the smaller cuts by hand Nevertheless, it's cut into pieces finally They wont win no beauty award, but they are good to go. Next time I'll ask a pro Don't miss next weekby sid - Mechanics
uups, na klar then my answer must be yes indeed (answering an or-question with yes is extremly useful ) I just messed up with crap and scrap (is there any difference technically?) Nevermind, I'm talking **** the one or other day, so just let me know whenever I use a wrong term 'sid PS I'd be interested in how much such McWire will be when it's done, just to know if my very own try is cheaperby sid - Mechanics

just about everything that you'd like to trigger the switch. Use some sheet of crapmetal for example and bend it nicely that it'll trigger the switch at the right point. The flag can be made of almost everything : metal, plastic, strong paper... 'sidby sid - Mechanics
Well, as far as I know you can send a fax to a cellphone number. It's quite unelegant to do so, but it's possible (I received a fax that's why i know, and I don't think zach's cellphone provider is worse than mine ) So, first: go ahead and ask zach himself via mail or private message in the forum second: if he'd not interdict, send the fax to his cellphone (AAAND a copy via email ) 'sidby sid - Reprappers
Hm, I don't know linux that much, but what I do know is, that noone should be as careless to run some Live-cd unattended if it's connected to the internet. And because we are still talking about the live-cd (at least i guess so) we should be fairly safe, otherwise there a much easier ways to gain root acces than to use a nvidia-driver bug The problem I'm seeing in this special case is, that ifby sid - RepRap Host
Sorry, maybe this is going to be a dumb question, but maybe not ptfe is known to have a very low friction, isn't it possible to machine the halfbearing from the same piece of rod we use for the extruder insulation? 'sidby sid - Mechanics
I don't know if the driver shipped with knoppix is crappy or unreliable, Everytime I gave it a try it worked, no issues nor errors. So what I would do first is install that one (shouldn't be too hard to find out). If it's okay, why bother with finding, paying and installing some other graphics card? Just to have some live-cd running?! I must admit, that I hate Ati cards, having nothing but trouby sid - RepRap Host
afaik the nvidia 8200 is an onboard solution. So all you could do is add another graphics card... BUT... why paying for a graphics card if you can have a driver for free ? I had nvidia graphic cards since pentiumII and I never had any troubles with my graphics card and Linux (not even ubuntu) the actual knoppix (debian based) runs extremly smooth with my current graphics card (7600GS) and with aby sid - RepRap Host
Nope the live cd doesn't need to connect to the internet at all. indeed that is some strange error you have there, showing up an error on a screen it cannot find thought only windows can be as dumb as this (said the man with the xp box...) Well try and get yourself the 0.6 (dvd version) maybe -and I'm not sure about that- maybe it's build on a more recent kubuntu version, that can cope with yby sid - RepRap Host
