:-) Running Firmware & Host from Repetier and the only thing I can say is 'THANKS'!!!!! Printing stuff and no cleaning to do.. sooo smooth .. I only dialed in the steps andthe rest default .. how cool is that! And stuff comes out better than I ever could have printed before.. so thanks again!by mhensen - Firmware - experimental, borrowed, and future
Ok .. i'll check that when I am at the machine.. But I believe I've set those correctly.. But if you are right I have a high reading of the temp so that would be the cause of not being able to turn on the heated bed :-) Hmm.. always when writing you can answer your own questions and come to the solution.. I will check tomorrow !!! looks good to me :-)by mhensen - Firmware - experimental, borrowed, and future
Would love to run this firmware but I cannot get the prusa heated bed configured :-( I have stated heated bed =true and set the thermistor to type 1, added the temp pin to the array but I cannot see the bed temp and cannot turn it on.. I see a value of 350C if I remember correctly.. If somebody has some config for a 'standard' Ramps 1.4 board... please send me the configuration.h and pins.h.by mhensen - Firmware - experimental, borrowed, and future
I would set the Y stepper to something else then 1/16, but that is my opinion :-) I have 4 pololu's X,Y,E on 1/16 and Z on 1/4by mhensen - General
Hi Wade, Thanks for the answer !! I managed to get it moving in the right section. For anybody who has a mendel and is using Skeinforge to generate their Gcode. Could you please share your settings for skeinforge? I am using a Mendel with a Wade extruder setup and am looking for the Skeinforge to refine my prints. Currently I use repsnapper and have the idea that the details could be better.by mhensen - Skeinforge
Hi all, As I have created my own mendel based on 4 pololu drivers I wanted to give Skeinforge a try as it should do a better job then repsnapper, but I ran in a slight problem. Thus I am wondering if anybody has an answer for me on this problem. The problem is that I have locked the firmware on a minumum of 0,0,0.. this is my home and the steppers won't move into negative territory. But whenby mhensen - Skeinforge
Just to shoot out in the open.. I am about to restart my RepRap/RepStrap adventures. Just starting from scratch!! looking at this schema at http://www.reprap.org/wiki/Pololu_Electronics I thinks this is way much cheaper then the orginal makerbot style electronics. The only question I have is "Will this work?? Or is this working anywhere in a reprap environment!" I like the easy of the schemby mhensen - Controllers
I am quiting the catalyst, has costed me a whole lot of hours and funds.. I tried to keep it all within the margin but eventually I was and still am better off by buying a proven kit! So I am in the market of all parts.. and still want me to build a reprap.. The friction, the 'broken' part, misfitting parts, missing parts, different approach. All in all I say, Damn I have been a fool! Couldby mhensen - For Sale
@ J-Dubs () I have the same problem.. what did solve you're problem.. A ground loop .. how to detect that one ?!?! looking for a solution.. Seems to me the extruder board locks up as soon as it needs to turn the stepper.. at least it looks like it.. it starts stuttering the motor but all very loosly.. I can hold it by hand and prevent from turning by holding the shaft... But I feel pulses..by mhensen - Controllers
Finally I can get it it jitter .. the leds of the qaudrant light up.. But what do I need to 'change' in the orginal extruder firmware to get the extruder stepper to run correct?? I am losing it :-) I have no clue what to do.. the 10K pot seems ok. as values change when I turn it .. do I need the fast_pwm enabled? any suggestion is welcome!!!by mhensen - Controllers
Also mentioned is setting the PWM in the firmware instead of using the 10k pot.. How is that working?by mhensen - Controllers
hmm I think it is busted... The stepper just sounds but no movement.. When whining I feel torque.. but otherwise it is loose.. I guess I need to replace the board or is there another option?by mhensen - Controllers
well ,, got it all up and running except for the extruder stepper.. just wistles(high pitch tone) but nothing else.. I see the green leds on and off x, Y and Z are ok.. Temp is reading and rise when heating the barrel by the host sw. but the extruder stepper won't turn.. got the I2C from MB to D9 and D10.. but the extruder can be turned by hand except when the pitch tone is thereby mhensen - Controllers
Hi all, I am looking for a simple schema for a mosfet based heater that can be used with the PID library.. Who can help me out?? quoted from Triffid_Hunter 'I use the IRL3803 for my heater, much simpler than this- arduino pin -> gate, gnd -> source, heater -> drain.. no other parts needed' Is this workable and can it be used with PID and does PID exist in the firmware, I forgot toby mhensen - Controllers
I received my Wade extruder.. I think this thing is essential to get the catalyst going.. The power of the profounddevices extruder is way to low. I guess this step is worth every penny.. (thanks Rusty).. It also is the best piece in my complete mendel and the only item that fits! Now I have a luxery extruder, next up is a new heater circuit. The current schema's can work but his circuit isby mhensen - General New Machines Topics
ok.. software seems running. And also the design exposes it's faults. Like in the video I have quite a lot of ooze.. although I haven't been able to do more then 1 layer I see the oozing.. This can be resolved by removing the bowden cable as this is too soft material so it builds up a lot of pressure inside. 2nd is the pushing mechanisme.. A nice design but the components need to be accuraby mhensen - General New Machines Topics
What is the 'best' software to use? Looking at the PD site several versions of software are available.. I have tried them all (I believe) but what is the best one to use without MACH3 or 2.. Just the plain arduino version.. So far I can move the bars and get the extruder to heat up .. but moving it 100mm is actually just moving 32mm so I am off *3 :-) But where do I change this.. Tried it inby mhensen - General New Machines Topics
@Reinout: Triffid_Hunter mentioned a solution with a mosfet.. I ordered the IRLxxx mosfet as I have a bit of a problem with the current solution with the relay.. It works.. but the temp is fluxing a lot +20C. And I guess this won't help stability in printing.. But does the firmware support the pwm solution Triffid suggests? Or do I need to write software to do this.. Or what other solutioby mhensen - Controllers
I love to hack around in this although I don't know too much about it.. but with some logics I manage to get by:-) bTW what is missing in the diagram is the common ground.. Arduino is self powered en the rest of the circuit is powered by another source.. And they need a common ground :-) That was something I was missing too. So for everyone thinking about to make this.. attach the 2 - ..by mhensen - Controllers
Nope not yet .. I found that I made a mistake with the transistor.. it was the wrong way :-( I am ashamed.. but then it still didn't work I hear it ticking at reset.. So now I've written a small routine that puts pin 13 high and low.. nothing.. Then I replaced the transistor for another.. ( don;t know which one.) and now the relay is clicking like I want it to be.. Now I have to resolve thby mhensen - Controllers
hmm I took out the led and then the heater starts heating a lot faster and it is silenced!!! Just a slight hum... The led was lit slightly before removing .. so there is some current going through pin 13.. on times not needed I guessby mhensen - Controllers
Can anybody confirm the schema of Reinout. I'v tried this and indeed it heats up.. but is so noisy.. so my question is A: is that normal or what might be wrong. the relay is not clicking once or twice but at a rather high frequence!!! B: How is the easiest heater circuit build up.. just using the arduino + a small handfull of common electronic parts? I all heated but it didn't stop at theby mhensen - Controllers
does nobody any clues on how to connect? Would like to start and I am awaiting some explanation from Kimberly edit: Kimberly mailed me the image.. The image is shown here Thanks kimberly and anybody responding to my by PM !!by mhensen - Controllers
With the 4-axis controller james provides.. I have set my hardware stops at the axes.. But when I home the device the hardware stops are hit.. As supposed but then when you give the command to move away from the stop the hardware stop prevents the motor from running.. The stop decouples the motor from the current.. you can feel almost no resistance when the stop has hit.. Can we hook the stoby mhensen - General New Machines Topics
hmm .. I've send a PM to kimberly.. :-) It is harder then I guessed.. but already thanks for all the comments.. Indeed the PDF are helbfull but an actual image sais more then a 1000 words.. At least this counts for me :-) Thanks again and any comments or suggestions are welcome..by mhensen - Controllers
Hi All, Call me stupid or call me carefull.. it could be both :-) But I am having the hardware of kimberly, techzonecom.com. I got all the parts but I am not sure how to connect them together. So if there is somebody or kimerly herself.. I would like to know which pins are what and how they hook up to each other.. I have included the pictures so if possible please write them in the pictureby mhensen - Controllers
Indeed what is good enough!! I know this part oh so well!! As a Software Engineer you always are working to get the last 5% finished but that always takes the complete time you've spent for the first 95%. :-) And sometime you have to say that things are ok knowning that otherwise the costs would get out of control. But WOW .. I am impressed about the Delta Bot.. I have follewed the discussionby mhensen - General
In response of jbayless I agree that this might have it's own thread because I am quite curious on how to increase. This might also become a good reference point for anyone starting with a reprap.. (like me!!) and want's to know from the experienced guys what makes it tick! I am still in the impression that anything can become a reprap as long you can position the x,y & z. But what makes itby mhensen - General
probably not a question for here but .. What makes the precision of the reprap... is it the x,Y and Z movement or is it more the extruder part that makes all the difference. I see so many differences in quality that I would like to know of what it is depending! Is it also the slower the better or not? or is this again the extruder that makes all the difference!by mhensen - General
I finally got all the parts together and builded a mendel.. the only thing missing is the plastruder itself.. But that is because I am missing a vital component.. the thermistor .. so that will be somewhere next week when I can build that thing. The only thing I can do now is to test.. running some gcode through the software james posted of testing the catalyst brought some life to the machineby mhensen - General New Machines Topics
