Good idea! I like the possibilities with clay, and I have a friend with a kiln. But won't a thin sheet of fired clay be rather brittle? And a thick sheet rather heavy? Also, how would the material stand up against drilling holes for the components?by Nudel - General
Thanks Arvin! I had been thinking about it for weeks, before I just went and built a prototype. And I was kind of impressed by how well the design works, compared to how easy it was to build. There is a tiny wobble on it though, which might be solved by adding bearings on the bottom of the motor side as well. And it is rather difficult to adjust, because the top and bottom move at the same timeby Nudel - General New Machines Topics

@Arvin A small update for you! I believe the x-axis bracket is going to work, so I'm on to making the carriage.by Nudel - General New Machines Topics
I agree with Cefiar. But I think a larger sample size than my two pictures should be considered. How do you consistently and properly measure a hole that small? I tried with calipers (and got about 0.57mm) but didn't feel I could do reliable measurements.by Nudel - For Sale
To my naked eye, the nozzle hole seems to be a fraction of a millimeter off center. I fail to see how that would matter the slightest bit at all. Also, and it might be an optical illusion, but there seems to be a tiny size difference in the size of the nozzle holes. No deal breaker for me anyway as I'm still on the experimental stage. Take a look at the attached pictures and see for yourself. I'by Nudel - For Sale
It's been only 8 days since I ordered, and the barrels are already here, that's very quick all the way to Norway! They look great, looking forward to test them.by Nudel - For Sale

@Michael If I understand you correctly, will that result in some kind of ladder-type gear? That sounds brilliant, make a wiki page about it Made a new mold today, and it worked very good this time as well. The belt I'm testing with now is a T1.5 (i think) belt from an old scanner, so I believe it should be easier to use the proper T5(?) mendel belt. Just made a wiki page for my wooden mendel - http://reprap.org/wiki/Adesina_-_A_Wooden_Mendel_RepStrap This is my first wiki page ever, am I doing it right? And, is this interesting to anybody? I think I've made some bad choices on file names initially, so there might be some duplicates now, and more later on. Is it possible to delete images from the wiki?by Nudel - General New Machines Topics

Price is one thing, availability is just as important. And the kit from techzonestore doesn't need any modifications for the mendel. I ordered a complete electronics kit from techzonestore 18.april.2010, they estimated the delivery to Norway to be between 29.april - 4.may, but nothing has showed up yet. What's strange is the tracking number I received doesn't show anything other than "Electronicby Nudel - General
I had a similar problem with one of my leadscrews. It moved fine for almost a whole revolution, then catched onto something and was difficult to move. Turned out one of the m4 screws which holds up the bearing was a bit off, so the m4 washer touched the leadscrew m8 washer every now and then. I just removed the m8 washer and now it works.by Nudel - General Mendel Topics
Hmm.. well. I can make my own gears, but I don't know how well the thermoplastic holds up in the long run compared to a printed gear? I'll think about it, but most likely I'll pass on the T2.5 belt for now. But I'm interested in the T5 belt, one long piece is fine, as I believe I can manage the splicing. You're welcome to drop me an email when you have T5 available.by Nudel - Vitamin Kit for Sale
Hi Stephen Since I'm casting my own gears, I don't see why it shouldn't be possible to use a T2.5 - or for that matter any - belt? Or am I missing something basic here? I'll wait until you get the mendel belts though, for consistency. PM sent. -Peterby Nudel - Vitamin Kit for Sale

Would you be interested in sending to Norway? Is so, would the postage be expensive? I'm looking to buy 5m if your still selling it for $20 AUD. This is 5mm wide, right? Do you know if it is difficult to splice it for the mendel z-axis? Today I successfully cast some working gears in polymorph thermoplastic from what I believe is a T1.5 belt from an old scanner. It was actually surprisingly easby Nudel - Vitamin Kit for Sale

I'm guessing if you buy 100 of m4x16 and 100 of m4x40 you would have enough. If you need more, it's not a huge investment. If you have too many, you need them for your next reprap anywayby Nudel - General Mendel Topics

PhantomAGN: Thank you so much! Sebastien: Thanks, I have those, and they are really great. Sure, I have no doubt of that, and we all see the results looks awesome. Just saying it would be interesting to find a way to study the files for ideas to my own wooden mendel.by Nudel - General Mendel Topics
Confirmed that Inkscape 0.47 reads the files, although it's a bit funky. Initially everything is white for some reason, so you have to select the entire page and choose a color (shift-click to color only the borders), to see anything. Doesn't show holes or any height/3D info in inkscape, but I don't know how they are supposed to look.by Nudel - General Mendel Topics
1: Just a shot in the dark, but perhaps the rod is not perfectly straight? Or perhaps you need to make the x-axis a tiny bit shorter? 2: I read about some people having the same problem. I'm building a wooden mendel.
