I have not used an FTIR for this purpose but from what I recall it should be possible. What I would like to say is that if you have substantially different reactivity in your monomers then yes it is possible to have that occur. The magnitude of this effect relies greatly on the geometry and kinetics of the process.by Azrael511 - Polymer Working Group
Essentially yes, you rely on the absorbance of the resin, photoinitiator, and frequently a UV absorber combined with limited exposure time to limit the penetration.by Azrael511 - Polymer Working Group
@A2 In my professional experience I do not typically use fillers or pigments since the resins are used for a purpose which requires clarity. That being said, if the viscosity is reasonably low and you do not require very high concentration you can usually just stir in fillers. Getting them to remain stable in the resin can be more of a challenge and that is where I have no expertise. The fillersby Azrael511 - Polymer Working Group
Polymerization speed is generally determined by the following Light intensity: Increasing the intensity increases the polymerization rate. The numbers I have seen are far from perfect but it seems to be somewhere between I=Rp and I=Rp^2 Functionality of the monomers and oligomers: More possible reaction sites increases the polymerization rate, but also increases shrinkage and heat generation whilby Azrael511 - Polymer Working Group
I am still looking for someone who has the hardware in my area. I currently have several potential formulas for different applications and just need experience with a DLP or similar machine to further develop these.by Azrael511 - Polymer Working Group
Hello, I am trying to find someone in the Los Angeles area with a UV based 3d printer. I have a background in the chemistry and am looking for a way to do the development for the resins required to print usable parts at a reasonable price using this technology.by Azrael511 - Polymer Working Group
Hi, my first post here also. I have a few questions and comments. 1) Do you have an idea of what monomers and possibly oligomers you are going to use? Are there specific mechanical properties you are trying to get? 2) Regarding the stabilizer, all commercially available monomers and oligomers should come pre stabilized for safety during transportation and storage. Most likely they will be stabiliby Azrael511 - Polymer Working Group
