YEAY!! I got a little further!! I adjusted the pots from the recommended 0.4 volts down to 0.3 again, thats when powered through USB only, as soon as I plug in 12v, the voltage drops to 0.27v I don't understand the voltage drop when plugging in the 12v PSU? ALL axis now turn without pulsing!! equilly in both dirrections! The noise is less, and the temps, although still high(imo) seem to be staby Mogal - RAMPS Electronics
Okay, here is a small video of whats happening... Issues I'm having: - voltage drop when the 12v is plugged in - odd hum from steppers, moreso then I think is normal - pulsing as the steppers move(on 2 of 3 axis) - high temps in a very short period of time... ie: 2mins Pulsing motorsby Mogal - RAMPS Electronics
Sorry to hear you have simular issues, but glad I'm not alone!! kuebelkiller Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hello Mogal > > I have nearly the same issue with the board from > the same seller. uhm... No ideas huh? the steppers do move both directions, but would that count out a wiring issue? Usually, its when they only move one way that its a wiring issue? The pulsing during rotation is what I'm not understanding... does it on two out of three axis. I would think that it would be a firmware issue that the steppers rotate different speeds in opposite directions? I still haven't let aby Mogal - RAMPS Electronics
A little more playing... When I use the LCD controller to move the steppers, the steppers will rotate almost 10 times more in one direction then the other... Through pronterface, the X axis rotates the same distance, in both dirrections, smoothly. the Y and Z axis will 'pulse' during the movements... same distance in either dirrection. uhgby Mogal - RAMPS Electronics
Hello all, sorry for the long post, just trying to get all the info out there... I'm stumped and in need of some assistance please! I purchased a reprapdiscount Ramps 1.4 ULTIMATE KIT back in July, and just now getting things wired up. I also have the LCD kit from reprapdisount as well. I hope the board isn't duff, cuz I'm past any exchange time!! I have flashed with ErikZalm-Marlin_RC3 firmwaby Mogal - RAMPS Electronics

I'm going the Mendel90 route. There is one or two people out there selling the kits... (google) I contacted Nophead... Its his plan and design... I'll support him for his contributions to the hobby, and it'll be nice to get the files from the source! I'll also be using MDF. Its tough building a printer without a printer... sigh...by Mogal - General
Hello all, I have the RepRapDiscount Smart Controller I have followed the instructions on the page, but the menuing system does not work correctly. The initial display comes up, but as soon as I go into the menus and 'click' only the first two options are select-able... and the only thing I can do is return to the main display.. (no menu items are select-able, or changeable... I was hoping some oby Mogal - Firmware - mainstream and related support
Hello all! (I posted this on the QU BD Forum, but there is more traffic here) I have the 8x8 silicon heater pad. My original plan was to plug it directly into my Ramps 1.4 board, but having the heat pad pull upwards of 15 amps, I don't want to take the chance of killing the board. Now I'm thinking about using a SevenSwitch. I have a Master craft MultiMeter(Canadian Tire) and I tried an Ampby Mogal - General

Thanks for the videos! I'd like to see the calibration process (programming) and showing how you tweak and tune things. Show how different settings effect things! Again, thanks!by Mogal - Reprappers

Yea, I was thinking that as well, but a high heat paint I think would be ok? I will be painting everything when done, to help keep the MDF stable.... Hello, Just wondering how MDF is going to be for a carrage? I'm working on a prototype, and MDF was easiest to try first... But the wieght of this thing is starting to add up. My best guess, is that it's about 2lbs. What's a good weight? Another question is, how does MDF hold up to the heat? It's a silicone heatbed, so it needs a rigid base for support. The glass I have is 3mm thick, untempereby Mogal - Look what I made!
QuoteThe good: The 3D Systems Cube's intuitive touch screen, Wi-Fi print features, and smart, removable build platform provide some conveniences you won't find in other 3D printers. The bad: Underpowered software, overpriced printing material, and overly locked-down hardware hurt the Cube's appeal for general consumers and hobbyists alike. The bottom line: 3D Systems has some useful ideas in itby Mogal - General
okay thanks James I have not got into the software side of things yet, just getting things wired up now. The firmware I will be using is Marlin RC2. I have made no changes to what was downloaded. (GitHub) So much to learn!! Its Awesome!by Mogal - General
Hello, this seems like the best place to ask this question I have a YH185B relay (PDF) I guess I can not use this relay to control my QU-BD 15 amp silicone heatpad? (here) They claim it can be run dirrectly off the Ramps 1.4 board... but?.... I'd like to run it directly from the board, but if I need a relay, can someone point me in the right direction please? Thanks! Chrisby Mogal - General
From the kickstarted website: 1) If you are not using our supplied motor, be sure that it has at least 2800g/cm of torque, that it is receiving adequate current and that the UHMW block is attached tightly. 2) The motors we supply only require 1.2A. It may be necessary to turn down the pots on your stepper drivers if you are used to using the common Kysan 1.5A steppers. Overheating your steppeby Mogal - General
