The Duet Shield was designed to have pass-through pins on the top. However, the current batch of Duet Shields was supplied with pass-through pins that were 12mm long, rather than 7.5mm. These are too long to fit in the Duet enclosure - they hit the metal lid! So we've been cutting them off flat (or rather, just above the solder) with the PCB. We had rather forgotten about needing to connect anythby droftarts - Ormerod
I haven't had anyone email me about nozzle blockages with the Quick-set nozzles specifically. The first thing to work out is if it's a blockage at the nozzle tip (ie contamination), or if it's that heat is travelling up the hot end, and melting the filament too high up. When it blocks, is the cooling block still cool? If you can remove the filament, especially if you can do this right down to theby droftarts - Ormerod

We need to do STEP assemblies of our machines; that's missing from the github repositories at the moment (though STEP assemblies of older versions are available). Unfortunately, to be at all productive, we need to use a decent CAD program. We've tried others, but SolidWorks works best for us, and is an engineering standard. Also, we needed another SolidWorks licence (yes, we pay for it!) and coulby droftarts - Ormerod
The difference is length, and perhaps the width, of the fan spacer arm that holds the fan duct. We did one originally for the Ormerod, then changed it so it would fit on the Huxley Duo, and carry the proximity sensor, then tweaked it for the Mendel 3 (just holes for cables, as far as I remember). I could probably ask the designer to generate dxf files for all of them (I think SolidWorks keeps theby droftarts - Ormerod
Quoteshadow651I do find the lack of open source laser stuff bizarre. For the most part laser cutters/engravers hardware is a 3D printer without the Z axis and extruder drive, and a laser in place of the nozzle. Since the duet supports this I wonder how much work it would be to have a laser cutter head that could be swapped out for the hot end.... Me too! About the only one I can find is Lasersauby droftarts - Ormerod
Generally, we don't select the tool in config.g because any tool change code (ie macro) will not run, when the tool is selected in config.g. This shouldn't effect most people, but if you have special tool settings which need to run the tpre, tpost or tfree macros, you should be aware of this. Any tool selection in config.g MUST come at the end; if you select a tool before it is defined, I'm notby droftarts - Ormerod
The Quick-set hot end is separate from the machine github repositories, as the same design is now used across Huxley Duo, Mendel 3 and Ormerod 2 (528.5 onwards, about to be updated). It's here: While Ormerod 2 up to 528.4 ships with the one-piece nozzle rather than the Quick-set nozzle, the fan spacer is the same. I think there was a different, earlier, version of it shipping with the Ormerod 2by droftarts - Ormerod
Hi Paul I replied in the other thread you posted in: (Some of the below is copied from the other thread.) You're using an old config.g and probably other files from a previous firmware release. Whenever you change firmware, you MUST use the SD Image files supplied with that firmware; if you mix different versions of SD Image and firmware, it may cause unexpected results. QuoteDarathy my fan duct was from this post and it fits perfectly, altho i will print thisone couse of more airflow Hmm... I wonder if we've managed to ship two different fan spacers with Ormerod. If one fits, I don't think the other one will. I'll try and remember to check tomorrow. This is the earlier one: This is the current one: Ianby droftarts - Ormerod
The fit of the fan onto the acrylic spacer also changed, to make it fit. While we think the design could still be improved, we don't have much available time to redesign it again, without a clear direction of how to make it better. It does a good job of cooling, with plenty of airflow. There isn't a lot of space around the nozzle to fit a circle cooler, and designing a good spread of air aroundby droftarts - Ormerod
No, the extra fan duct was designed for a pre-production version of the fan spacer. The fan spacer was changed before it was launched, but the fan duct was not. The correct version of the fan duct was uploaded on the 8th May. Ian RepRapPro tech supportby droftarts - Ormerod
The fan duct is here: (I need to add it to the list on the first page of the Ormerod 2 instructions: ) This has been tweaked fairly recently, as the acrylic fan spacer was changed, and the fan duct had to change too. So check you have the latest version. Ian RepRapPro tech supportby droftarts - Ormerod
Whenever you change firmware, you MUST use the SD Image files supplied with that firmware; if you mix different versions of SD Image and firmware, it may cause unexpected results. See: I've updated the commissioning instructions to reflect firmware changes. Understanding how tools are configured, and how to enable them (which will get the extruder working), are covered there. Don't worry too much about seeing the 'RepRapFirmware up and running' message. It happens very soon after power is applied. It was more obvious in older firmware, which waited a long time checking for ethernet, then sent that message. I do need to update the responses shown in the commissioning instrucitons, they are not quite correct for the current firmware. More importantly is if there is ANYby droftarts - Ormerod

Here are the current Fisher dimensions. I'm not quite sure of the terminology PRZ used, so ask if there is anything that is not clear, or if there are any other dimensions you need. Please remember all of these dimensions are subject to change! Height is 426mm. Side panels are 3mm acrylic, 190mm x 426mm. The opening in the side panel is 55mm from the bottom (same height as bed surface), 138mmby droftarts - Fisher
PRZ: Sorry if my reply was robust; however, your post sounded like you were telling us our design was completely wrong! While it would be great to have a fully-featured printer, this comes with an associated cost, and our main objective is a much more affordable printer. As I have said, we will be tweaking the design over the next few weeks, but we're not likely to make major changes. Yes, thereby droftarts - Fisher
I've just measured the diameter of the Fisher bed, now that we have it here back from the show. The diameter, not including the 'lugs' for the bed probing, is 170mm. So it may be possible to fit a 160mm diameter heated bed, though I have no idea on the actual size of the linked 160mm heated bed. It would be sensible to change the acrylic bed for an insulator (eg MDF), with the heated bed on top.by droftarts - Fisher

Hi cua193 Glad that helped, sorry I didn't reply sooner! Like I said, I let the forum get on with itself, and usually people are quick to say, if they can't help, to contact us directly. It just seems no one quite diagnosed what the issue was, so it was left hanging, though I think it was a couple of things at the same time. The acrylic isn't heated... Or are you worried by the acrylic being heated by the hot end? In testing, with tape on the bed, this hasn't been an issue. Ian RepRapPro tech supportby droftarts - Fisher
Hi Fpex The bed is acrylic. Whether this, or any other details, change before beta release, I just don't know! But I would tend to guess probably not. That doesn't mean that the 'non-beta' version will be the same, of course! Ian RepRapPro tech supportby droftarts - Fisher
Which firmware version do you have? If you send M302 (firmware 1.04) or M302 P1 (firmware 1.09 and dc42 firmware), it will allow cold extrusion. See Though 160C is surprisingly low for PLA! Ian RepRapPro tech supportby droftarts - Ormerod
Just to respond to your a couple of your other points... rodvaN's problem is very different. He can't make contact with the Duet, probably because either the USB cable is damaged, or the USB socket has detached from the Duet PCB. And it would be nice if the Duet was seen as a mass storage device (like USB memory stick) when the SD card was plugged in, but unfortunately this functionality is not iby droftarts - Ormerod
