EMC2 can control a robot arm, google "emc2 robot arm" for examples. EMC2 doesn't use an Arduino type interface, it directly controls stepper drivers through a parallel printer port or card. T Case

Has anyone started on an openscad version yet ? I am about to start as I want to use the www.aluminium-profile.co.uk/ extrusion and need to have 6mm key strips and M5 screws. I view it as a good project for learning scad but if it has already been done I would be better finding another useful project.

If you have problems with clearance hown about stick on/screw on rubber feet. You can gain 5 to 10 mm of clearance AND you reduce the level of sound transfer to the bench top. TC

I had my material from the above supplier delivered and am very pleased. Good quality and acurately cut. Obviously postage is a big factor so UK suppliersbare very good for us Brits.

Neat design. To address the problem of fitting the Z rods, how about mounting them outside the frame, opposite the threaded rods rather than within the frame. Then the Z rods could be simply dropped into place when the frame build was finished. T Case

If you want to produce 1.75mm filament from 3mm it might be easier to reform it with heated rollers rather than re-extruding it. TC

Hammer it on a bit of hard wire of measered diameter, Piano wire is good if you can get holdof some, very hard and shiny.

An option for extruder nozzles - 13 years ago

I just bought some Calor gas jets, they are small brass items with a 1BA thread and holes that range from about 0.15mm up about 0.35mm. it would be much easier to modify the end of the extruder nozzle to allow a replaceable jet to be screwed in than drilling very small holes.
