Hey Nealeb in another topic you said you have a lathe is it up and running yet?by chris33 - Devon RepRap User Group
1st you need to decided which model of printer your going for then go from there, i was going to build a prusa mendal i2 but didnt like the threaded rod idea too much wobble and scared that iid have to tighten nuts all the time, i like the i3 which im going to build due too the y carriage and access to the extruder easier, having the y carriage vertical instead of horizontal like the mendal90. no but what you after cutting because it was for a aluminium i3 frame and i got one soughted with a local firmby chris33 - United Kingdom RepRap User Group
i was messing around learning scad and thought id design this and see if it would work i did all the individual parts in different colours the brown is the frame green is the spindle blue is the magnets the red is the coils and the yellow is the bearings the top level magnets will be angled on the spindle with the correct poles facing so the magnets on the frame will push the top spindle mby chris33 - Let's design something! on the z axis on the i3 wiki says 5mm threaded bar i bought some stainless steel 5mm dia threaded bar would that do im hoping once built ill modify to take 5mm diameter leadscrew i have sourced but cant do it straight away as ill need to change the the y ends nut recess to accept the lead screw boltby chris33 - General Mendel Topics

Well I just sanded one side of the y carriage prep it for polishing it was time consuming but worth it just need get more sand paper from Here before pic Heres after pic Anyone in the uk thinking about making the prusa i3 I can get the 6mm aluminium frame for 60 inc delivery the only two problems with the frame 1 the holes are 3.25 (which I believe someone changed it on the github to 3.2by chris33 - General
Get one cut in uk from github file just remember that the holes on the github are 3.25mm ideally they should be 2mm +0.5mm/-0.00mm hoping the water jet can cut such small hole laser cutting would, hence next frame im going to get will be laser cut kenshinjeff Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I would join you if I were in the states. > > Just a quick queby chris33 - General Mendel Topics

I agree for instance it was cheaper to get I i3 cut from local water jet cutting company although holes was wrong size onby chris33 - General
Im in the getting the parts together I have the 6mm aluminum plate with modified tapped m4 holes as the git file holes measure 3.25mm so if any one builds and gets it cut themselves change the holes sizes im doing my modifications on the mk2 im building after the one im building now, im in uk as I know that the i3 isnt finalized so theres few different various versions but I wanted to build i3 duby chris33 - General
ok i made a plate now i want to add a part from another scad and move it so i opened my plate.scad and i put at to include and it appears yipee but im stuck how do i maneuver the part.scad i put translate command afterwards and nothing moved basically i put include translate ([20,02,30]); what have i done incorrect hat am i missing for it to move to the postion i want it thanksby chris33 - General
well holes tapped too 4mm parts hole adjusted to take 4mm bolts all i need now is a mop and some polish and a almighty swear i forgot the file at b&q oh well ill sneak there after overtime tomorrow missus wont know lolby chris33 - General
Yeah you was right 3.25mm they are ill tap them to 4 and going to make a revision on the wiki and reside the holes so no one has the same problemby chris33 - General
In open scad does the r1.8 translate to a 3.6mm cos I want to make the hole too 4.1mm which I was going to put this instead r2.05, am I incorrect cheersby chris33 - General
Yeah I see wat you mean now oh well now I need to know in openscad is r1.8, which is the hole size for the parts does r1.8 translate to 3.6mm so if I change them to r2.05, it make them 4.1mm, also I know ill have to change the radius to match bolt head for a m4 bolt but the bolts at work but ill measure them when im there tommorowby chris33 - General
they 3mm holes the its cut from the dxf file on the wiki i had the prusa word changed to i3 because didnt like the idea of it just engraved but yep went and measured the holes and its correct was yours bought from reprapsource.com as mine also different has holes allowing for the stepper motorsby chris33 - General

Hi i thought id throw this here i can get hold of prusa i3 frames For £60 uk postage included, i have a minimum spend so need to buy 2 at a time currently its 4 days lead time on 2 cut and then the rest in postage, just pm me thanks They'll look like the one below they have not been tapped de burred or polish but all that just adds to the price when you all that can be done DIY. Im getting a quby chris33 - Vitamin Kit for Sale
