Is the printmate printer an original design or a slightly modified i3/mendel90? What's the advantages of your design? It looks interesting but I can't tell what is essentially different from local designs. Thanks.by REPRAP SQUAD - Developers
In order to make a printer out of junk you really need to have a few qualities: You need to be okay with troubleshooting, be good at looking at things in different ways and have the drive to keep going forward, no matter how stuck you may get during the build. Other than those helpful qualities it comes down to the junk you have available and it sounds like you are well on your way. Finding worby REPRAP SQUAD - Developers
I'm actually setting up mine right now with two mk3 heated beds which give me 8x16 and I have a custom milled aluminum plate specifically made for this setup. I usually don't print 1 large print but, I commonly print a bunch of smaller objects. The two heated beds are wired through a solid state relay and I'm currently running 3 power supplies due to the fact that I have dual extruders as well.by REPRAP SQUAD - General
The z and x axis are integrated, the x axis rods hold the z axis bearings in place. It also has an auto tensioner system for the z axis bearing system. That way rod sizes for the z axis can range from 8mm to about 14 plus mm with no modifications. It also has a PTFE tube feed system that travels through the upper right vertex with quick disconnect plugs. The top mounted spool coaster is adjustabby REPRAP SQUAD - Developers
I started out many years ago, using scanners, printers and other things to make repraps out of. It is very difficult to use DC motors and get them to run correctly enough to print with. I'm not by any means saying, don't do that. I'm just letting you know that it will be a tough journey. A lot of the parts on the JunkBot came from household printers. You can find with a little luck and a lot oby REPRAP SQUAD - Developers
It's also been found that repeatedly running your hotend into a piece of metal wears down the extruder and nozzle. The best way I've found is the use of a z probe or a momentary switch.by REPRAP SQUAD - Developers

I wanted to build a printer that could be built using primarily junk or recycled parts. I always caught myself seeing something that could be used to build a printer at a thrift store or on the side of the road. When I saw a friend of mine throwing away some outdoor solar lights I decided it was time to build the junkbot. The stands that held up the outdoor solar lights would be perfect for a fraby REPRAP SQUAD - Developers
I'm actually building a quad extruder setup based off of the Printrboard with LoboCNCs closed loop stepper add on that was recently developed. The Printrboard with the daughter board runs 3 extruders and the fourth is ran off of the closed loop stepper add on. It's taken us a little while but we are getting closer to getting everything operational. We've been delayed primarily due to slow part orby REPRAP SQUAD - General
I had to say, great work buddy. I am quite impressed with the attention to detail. Keep up the good work..by REPRAP SQUAD - General
I use Rubbermaid tubs with really good seals in the bottom I have a layer that has holes cutout towards the bottom and under that I fill it with kitty litter. The filament sits above the birch wood with the holes in it. I've been using this method for about a year now with no issues. I also throw in those little packets you get with shoes etc that sucks up moisture. I rotate packets and litter evby REPRAP SQUAD - General
It's possible but not without headaches. Matching extruders is fairly important. I'm part of the dual extruder beta members for printrbot and even with matching everything it hasn't been easy to get just right. Like I said its definitely possible, it's just a matter of how much time you want to spend on it. Anyway I can get a copy as I would really like to test it out on my galaxy tab 2. Let me know as it would be nice to be able to try out something new.by REPRAP SQUAD - Developers
Printrbot is very close to releasing the production version of the dual extruder setup and a possible triple setup. I am one of the ten lucky beta testers for the dual extruder setup and it works great. The production version will have all aluminum direct drive extruders that are light and strong. They are really stepping up to the plate and it's worth waiting a little bit to check out. I have thby REPRAP SQUAD - General
Very much like the enventorbot which I think is a great design. Any specific reason for using 3 linear bearings on the bed instead of 4. Seems like it could be scaled up into a larger platform as well. Great job and even better renders.by REPRAP SQUAD - Developers
I have a question about drill rods and I've had a debate that never got settled. If you are using lme12uu linear bearings can you get away without to many issues in combination with 15/32" rod as its 11.90 or 11.93mm. My friend says that it's possible and doesn't create much of a noticable difference unless you're looking for super accurate prints. He says this and he also says he uses 5/16 rodby REPRAP SQUAD - General
There are foam mats that snap together like a puzzle and they are made for standing on and work great under a printer. Also another option is to buy a couple of mouse pads that can be found for a dollar a piece. Mouse pads work really well and are super cheap you can buy a handful of them for less than $5.by REPRAP SQUAD - General
I've heard of it before but, some pictures would help a lot as I've heard a lot of different things called perfboard.by REPRAP SQUAD - Reprappers
I would definitely be interested in testing out this setup as I have quite a few different setups I could test it on. I'll pm u.by REPRAP SQUAD - General
I'm sorry but it doesn't look to impressive to me. Looks like a $2k printer for way more. I'm curious on print speeds as it uses ball screws on all axis. I noticed a good portion of the parts are bought from previous kickstarters and installed on this bot. I guess it would be expensive if I took everyone else's hard work and bought it to install on a setup, an then re-sold it. Too many kickstartby REPRAP SQUAD - General
I can say that I have tested quite a few different steppers and for the price Kysans are the best I've ever used. They have plenty of holding torque and run cooler than others. Like said, you can snag em for $12-15. A piece online. I buy mine from printrbot as they have great customer service so it's worth paying a little bit more.by REPRAP SQUAD - General

Yes I have and there are actually a few companies that sell them for like a quarter each. Pretty neat though and I'm always a fan for finding different uses for random things.by REPRAP SQUAD - Reprappers
I got 30ft of polyethylene tubing and it seems to work really well. It only cost me $2 for all of it and it came on a spool I can re use. I like it better than nylon and in some cases better than PTFE especially for the price.by REPRAP SQUAD - General

Typically large prints are not done because of warping and cracking as well as other associated issues. A lot of people will take one large item and break it into smaller pieces that are designed to be put together after printing. I am currently in the design phase of a large format core xy build and there are a lot of challenges in getting it to print correctly. I have several printers I've builby REPRAP SQUAD - Reprappers
I'm currently in the design stage of building a large format printer. Like many have said, its not easy to do. It can be done though and I have seen it done well even without a heated build chamber. My design calls for one though but I just finished a printer that is a scaled up version of printrbots Simple platform. Mines called the Simple XL and it has about 8x11x12 inch platform. I not saying by any means that you should accept sub-par prints. I'm just saying that a lot of people buy a printer and then automatically start printing off parts and open up an eBay shop like they are a mass manufacturer. Also there is a huge misconception that printed parts come out finished like a set of Legos, finish wise. Specifications of the parts should be accurate. I'm more referringby REPRAP SQUAD - Reprappers
I dont know if you all are still trying this but I just bought a dell axim x30 with a 667mhz processor. I want to be able to run my printer from it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.by REPRAP SQUAD - RepRap Host
