Agreed. There is a common misconception that 3d printed parts come out like they were made from molds. All parts that are fdm will usually require a little finish work. A lot of the holes you will want to drill out a little bit smaller than the actual bolt going in it. Good luck on the build.by REPRAP SQUAD - Reprappers
@shai - I think its a pretty cool little setup. Keep up the good work. You're first prints are looking pretty impressive. I cant wait to hear how makers faire goes for you guys. Keep us updated on the printer. I wish I had the money cause I would buy one for sure.by REPRAP SQUAD - Reprappers
I use slicer to slice for printing but, as far as creating your own designs. I recommend sketchup or blender. Both have free versions and sketchup is very user friendly. They also have tutorial videos on getting started and how to make things. It was a quick learn for me and after watching a few videos, messing around a bit. I have now designed intricate full 3d printer designs with minimal softby REPRAP SQUAD - Reprappers
At RepRap Squad we decided to take the printbot Simple to the next level. We made the tiny Simple XL, xtra large that is. It now has more print space then most conventional repraps today. I cant post pics here due to size limitations but if you would like to see pics of this awesome printer please click here and it will direct you to my build log on the Simple XL.by REPRAP SQUAD - Reprappers
Is this job still available? If so I may be interested as I fit well within the requirements. Thanks!by REPRAP SQUAD - Oregon, Portland RepRap User Group
Are you going to makers faire in portland this Saturday? If so you can meet some of RepRap Squad members. Let me know also if you would like to join us.by REPRAP SQUAD - Oregon, Portland RepRap User Group
I sent you a message via your site. Let me know what you need printed as we have a extended sized Printrbot plus with dual extruders. Also if anyone local wants to get together RepRap Squad members will be attending Portlands maker faire on this upcoming Saturday. So shoot us a message on here or our site and we can meet up.by REPRAP SQUAD - Oregon, Portland RepRap User Group
I know a lot of people especially in the Printrbot community that would die to be able to slice or print and edit from their android tablet. Weve all been waiting for a long time to be able to do this. So more power to you and I definitely will be following your progress.by REPRAP SQUAD - Developers
I have a post or two on my WordPress site with the link below if you are interested in learning a lil more about dual extruders. Im participating in Printrbots dual extruder beta.by REPRAP SQUAD - Reprappers
What are you talking about? I really don't have time to sit here and debate with you so I won't anymore. I made the proper adjustments and would rather spend my time helping others with their bots as is the point of this forum. If there was any confusion I am sorry except normandc ( im not apologizing to him as he acts like a fool) If anyone wants to have an actual conversation about rostocks oby REPRAP SQUAD - General
I already changed it a lil while ago to dismay any confusion,by REPRAP SQUAD - General
Here is the link to DeltaPrintr: if that makes you feel better about it. If you look through the old forums either on here or Printrbots you will see that I've been following this build before it was even going to be a kickstarter. I have wrote about another rostock derivative a long time ago that was one Kickstarter. I never once said that they didn't email me what they emailed everyone. Yes Iby REPRAP SQUAD - General
Actually I could care less about winning one. I'm trying to find out info on rostock and delta printers as I am an enthusiasts. I also write articles about printers, accessories and the industry as a whole. So it is important for me to learn about a type of machine and people's opinions, that I know little about. If you look on my page you will see that I've sent DeltaPrintr questions to find ouby REPRAP SQUAD - General
I agree with you guys. If its affordable, within the 600$ range I would consider buying one but I would want to have it print abs. Most deltas are considerable more than that, so I would imagine that there's is too. I've always thought that the design was neat and I definitely wouldn't mind cleaning the rails once a week. I already have a maintenance schedule for my current bots so that's not anby REPRAP SQUAD - General
I agree the delta is getting better. Looking at their page it seems as if they might build in abs at least as an add on. If this bot is priced right I might be getting one. I like how they haven't over complicated it, thats for me to do.by REPRAP SQUAD - General
I recently ran across this page for the new Delta Printr and thought it looked pretty cool. I wrote up some info on my WordPress site below or you can go to: www.DeltaPrintr.com to see the page for the Delta Printr. The reason I'm posting this is because its interesting to see the direction that 3D printer designers are taking. It claims that you won't spend much time calibrating and leveling yoby REPRAP SQUAD - General
Im not sure as these will only be my 3rd direct drive extruders. I do know that it is a proven design that works very efficiently and the resolution is great. It definitely retracts a lot better and little to no ooze. Its a well thought out design with Printrbot.by REPRAP SQUAD - Reprappers
I'm not saying that direct drive puts less strain. I said that 1.75mm filament requires less torque. How much weight does the machined gears add? Here's a pic of my ubis hotends so you can check em out. My pics are too high quality to post so here's the link.by REPRAP SQUAD - Reprappers
I'm not sure where You might find parts for the HUxley as it is an old rap rap. It's basically a mini Mendel. I would recommend going with the full size version as it's a lot easier to source. If you want the Huxley specifically then get a BOM and self source parts.by REPRAP SQUAD - Reprappers
Another issue that a lot of 3d printers have during large scale Prince is working. This can be alleviated using alternating pads or rafts to help secure potential lift points. Warping is a huge issue with larger prints even ones quite a bit smaller then the scale you are referring to. Most big prints people do are done by printing several smaller pieces that are engineered to fit together to makeby REPRAP SQUAD - Reprappers
I'm currently doing the beta testing for the new Printrbot dual direct drive extruders. They use a ubis hotend which i've been impressed with. Same mounts as the j head. They have recently released there direct drive kit by itself. I would recommend checking it out. A lot of people are moving towards 1.75mm filament, especially for direct drive. It requires less torque strain from the motor keepby REPRAP SQUAD - Reprappers
To help keep costs down you can always find linear rods in old printers and scanners along with other goodies. Sometimes you can find good stepper motors. I built a Printrbot original for about $150 doing this. It is very time consuming.by REPRAP SQUAD - Reprappers
Yes I have and several of my friend's have used brass as well. You can always do brass rod with steel nut also but, the cost is more significant. Im actually changing my Printrbot plus v2 over as I recently added dual direct drive extruders. The carriage weight us higher so those brass nuts come in handy. They do wear better and I've never witnessed any excessive rod wear with that configurationby REPRAP SQUAD - Reprappers
Im guessing either it was an issue with not or incorrectly positioning pots on the ramps board. It could also be your power supply. Why would you only connect a 12v 5 amp line on your psu if it is a 600 watt one you should have a 12v line with like 50 amps Available. Then again he could have missed aligned rods.by REPRAP SQUAD - Reprappers
I haven't used this lcd but I wonder if it has something to do with the language folder?by REPRAP SQUAD - RAMPS Electronics
Have you adjusted the pots on your controller? What controller are you using?by REPRAP SQUAD - Controllers
Buying metric rods with solid brass nuts is the way to go. During calibration m8 or whatever ones you chose break down to a better number which helps eliminate banding. Also brass nuts on threaded rod are a lot smoother and wear better especially with a good lithium grease.by REPRAP SQUAD - Reprappers
It sounds like the pots are not adjusted properly. What controller do you have. Your motors should run a lil above room temp. With an exception for E axis or extruder motor. Look up vref for your controller. You should start with the pot all the way down and then slowly turn it up. Once the motors start to turn, then turn it 1/8th of a turn more and that's a good reference for ramps. Let me knowby REPRAP SQUAD - Reprappers
