I spent like $5 bucks on some 623 bearings and $14 on the belts and pulleys.by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
I printed this today to try out.mSimple Extruder for Smartrap Seemed to be working ok till my Extruder Stepper Motor Died... Doh... Now it just shutters back and forth..by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
Congrats Kamil!! That print looks good... Oh, I love the CD spool deal... I got to do that!by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
I'm using 2x 8.5x11 picture frame glass stacked together. The picture frames are $2 from WallyMart.by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
My first one is servo. The second one I'm building is Servoless.by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
I'll try to post up my Slic3r settings tonight...by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
The Missaligned layers look like my prints before I switched to Belts. You can try to slow your travel speed down to reduce line slipping maybe... Slow your infill speed to 20.by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
Ok, I think the reason your tip is dragging is the Z offset. I had issues with my Z nut moving up and down in its slot. I finally cut a small piece of spring and squeezed it in there to keep the nut pressed up against the top of the slot. Anyways I was adjusting the Z offset per print. I would write down my Z offset, and the adjust it .1 in either direction till i got the first layer i wanted. M5by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
I use Pronterface. It's simple and works well with Sli3r. I use the Smartrap Slic3r config from the Smartrap github. The only thing I've really changed was to slow the speeds down to keep the extruder from skipping. Now, with a few prints under my belt, I tinker with the settings to see what effect it has on the print, but usually go back to Smartrap Slic3r config defaults.by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
Does your Lm8uu bearings have any slack?by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
Smartrap and PLA, but don't know if that would work with your heat requirements.by madmike8 - General
Pictures? Temp Setting? slow the print/perimeter/infill speeds to like 25mm/s and start bumping them up till it starts skipping. Then back down to whatever was highest without skipping.by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
Congrats Milt, Those are very nice prints and a very clean Smartrap build. It looks like the new Jhead Lite is performing well too with PLA...by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
I had wired NO when I wired mine in the beginning. After learning that was wrong I just rewired NC too.by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
I had a frustrating day yesterday with my prints. The Z coupler kept slipping mid print. Arg! Anyways a trip to Wally World and $1.88 later I've got Aquarium air Tubing. Installed today, and so far so good.by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
Line #s 450 and 451 in pins.h You do not have to change the connector. I'm not sure about the NO endstops, but my guess would be to change the Endstop Logic in configuration.h const bool Y_ENDSTOPS_INVERTING = false; // set to true to invert the logic of the endstops.by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
I think that must have happened when your fan wasn't working, because I haven't had that issue with the huxley. LOL on the brass bed...by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
Thanks for that Mark, I'm going to need that info before to long.by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
BackEMF, did you try adjusting your extruder offset? I can help you with it if your Servo. Mark can help you if your Servoless.by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
I work for a K-12 school system. (One of our schools was hit by a Tornado last week.) my goal is to build one of these for each of the elementary schools. Maybe along with Mark's FreeCAD we can get a younger set of kids interested in designing and building while their imagination is at it's fullest. For the ones that are interested, I hope they could print the parts they need at school, and buildby madmike8 - Smart_Rap
Regpye, I can't wait till you have those tested and post them. Really Nice. Mark, can you make bearings that just bolt down thru the stepper holes?by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
Oh, I'm in need of steppers/ramps/mega and a printed part or two, before I'll know. We'll have to see how the budget works out this month...by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
If I recall correctly my print speed is like 30mm/s and my infill speed is at 28mm/s. the extruder wants to skip steps if I get much faster than that.by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
I use the Elmer's Stick Glue. I've learned that the temp changes with the spool. Lol. I've ran as low as 175, but 195 seems like a good starting spot and either adjust up or down from there...by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
Congrats Kamil!! I'm glad you have it working now. I might have to try this in the future, especially when I make them for the kids in school for their projects.by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
Yeah, adjust the stepper driver. Google for some good guides. If your stepper starts to stutter while printing, you can adjust the print speed down or temp up.by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
Got my filament in! I'm printing Leftie today. Got my Jhead Lite V2 ready to drop in.by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
The benefit of printed bearings is they bring down the cost. It allows you to use cheaper and easier to get drill rods. I think I kinda like the plate idea like Mark did, as it seems wasteful to throw away a large chunk of plastic when only a small part has worn out. The idea of the Whole plate with the bearings would be easier to assemble though, but I'm not sure how well it could be printed?by madmike8 - Smart_Rap
