I believe the Mk3 has an ambient temp thermistor in the electronics enclosure, so it's already got the hardware you're looking for. But why would you want to change the temperature based on ambient? You'll still want to print at the same temperatures, the plastic doesn't care if the room is at 10 C, it'll still melt at the same temperature as if the room was at 30 C. If you mean you

While waiting for my Mk3 to ship I was noodling around ebay and noticed cheap humidity and temperature sensors that can, I think, be integrated into a printer fairly easily. My question is would it be any use to be able to have the printer adjust the bed and nozzle temp based on the environment?
What I was thinking with a bit of testing you could come up with some basic tables for humidity, tem

Yes it's my opinion just like your signature is your opinion. Why would I be happy if it costs you alot, I couldn't care less what you pay or don't pay. Since you're located in Europe why not buy from a European supplier?? I can't believe that a similar priced prusa i3 isn't available closer where it doesn't cost 100 bucks to ship, frankly at a hundred more I would have sourced the machine myse

Just managed to screw myself, and yes it was almost all of my own fault, almost.
I want to try auto leveling on my prusa i3 and eventually want to use a Capacitance Proximity Sensor instead of a mechanical switch, bleeding edge and all that. I've been watching ebay for such a sensor and thought I had found one for auction with free shipping from China so being cheap and not in a hurry I bid the

I just came across this on ebay,
Sintron 3D Printer
Currently it lists 10 in stock and a price of $68.23 with free shipping.
The seller has no feedback for sales, all his feedback is as a buyer.
This is the basic Acrylic prusa i3 with a bowden extruder and the LCD display.
Either this is a big screw up and will be dropped/edited or it's a scam although it's the strangest scam I can imagine

You must have the most screwed up kit ever then since my rods are all 8 mm. I've been printing ABS since I got it working at either 230 or 240 depending on which brand I use and as long as I have the extruder fan running all the time I don't have any issues with air prints or slipping. So you bought cheap 1.75 abs and find out it's no where near 1.75 and blame the extruder when it doesn't work?

Well I own a Folger. And I do not recommend buying it. Too much problems to think mine was an exception. Thru, I'm still looking forward Folger's awnser to the encountered problems since november 17th... The frame is not stiff enough, the overall quality is low. Some parts were broken, some rods bended. The cold end warms up. The PLA parts are fragile. The linear rods are not 8mm b

Not sure if you've thought about getting one of the bunch of prusa i3 'kits' out there but take a look at the Folgers one on ebay with shipping its about $360ish, you get everything and the i3 should be a quicker build with it being easier to square up everything due to the plate for the Z axis. Just remember this is a kit and you will have to 'play' with it to get good prints. I started out lo

Just to add to the general info I recently picked up a tube of 'Super Lube' a multipurpose synthetic lube with PTFE in it from Harbor Freight, I luck out in having an actual brick and mortar one a couple of miles away, for about 7 bucks. I saw this lube recommended on the reprap wiki page for lubrication and I must say after putting it on both the smooth and threaded rods everything is quieter a

I know some of the others here have had alot of issues with their extruders but I've only had one or two air prints from mine and after I wired the extruder fan directly to the power supply instead of letting the ramps board turn it off and on I haven't had any. I also added an always on 40mm fan to point at the ramps mosfets after I started having a problem with the bed not heating up as fast a

A question to the group, how hot does your X axis stepper get? I've already turned down the vref by half assumming for some reason this driver or stepper didn't like what I believe most everyone else is using but it still gets pretty hot after about an hour. I can hold my fingers on it for a while and don't get burnt but it does sting. I'm still having an issue with bigger prints skipping step

Been there, almost done that
If you look at the gcode I suspect you will find a command to lift the extruder 5mm before it begins printing so it doesn't drag the nozzle across the bed until it gets to the initial print location. On mine when I used Cura to slice initially it was doing that but slamming the head into the bed trying to go 5mm down, like it thought the bed was moving up and down

I have not had much truble with ABS, I have not tried PLA as it does not suit my needs. I had a few clogs here and there, and fought stringing etc. etc. But I learned a few things along the way.
1 - measure your filament at least in 10 different places every 30cm or so and get an average. (easy to do as you simply run a caliper to the roll and measure each coil)
2 - if your bed

By the way you are better off with the hot end fan on all the time because it doesn't take much heat creep to start the extruder slipping.

hi
thanks for your quickly response
1. when you said fan for "hot end" do you mean the number 1 or number 2 ? (in the attached photo)
2 no i'm not using 2 STL files combined. this is the same file (printed with fans "on" (both of them) during all printing if it make you sense)
3. i'm printing with pla and i don't get good adhesion in the big part (if compare it to printing small part)

Are you compiling with the lcd display option selected? I know you need another library, u8glib, for that or it gets real unhappy.

doh! guess my views on bed leveling probe aren't so popular! probably why the shift towards manufacturers including them is happnening... Maybe ill dust off the ole induction probe and give it another chance
You just haven't had a sentient printer which can change it's own leveling on a whim.
When I started researching to build/buy a printer I saw the self leveling systems and had

Yes, all three.
Oh my gosh...was it really that easy?! Wow...seems like I have working motors now.
Those jumpers help - I found that out as well
Ditto! We should start a poll to see how many people missed the jumpers on their first printer

Right now price. When I get to the point of more consistant printing of large objects, meaning I can actually get them to print, probably how strong the colors are and then price.
I only have used part of two rolls of ABS right now and both were from different suppliers. I did this on purpose in case I had an issure with printing so I would be able to try another manufacturers filament to zero

I haven't printed any PLA but will second the use of 'ABS Juice' for ABS. Juice is all I've used since my second test print and as of yet I've had no curling, even on big prints, and only had one where the print broke free from the bed during the print and I'm pretty sure that was due to a problem with the Z axis binding and the extruder clipping the edge of the print when moving from one side t

Well my temp modification by magnets works so I'm able to print until I get replacements for the end-stop. I tried a print but forgot to modify it to make the fan stay on so I was manually flipping the fan back to 100 percent every minute or so until it go to 50 percent then I let it go and within 5 minutes it was air printing again. Then I re-sliced the print and told it no cooling so it wasn'

I wont see either the replacement end-stop or the batch of micro switches I got to fix the broken one I have until Monday or later so I can't do much printing wise, at least so I thought. I was looking at the printer and realized that even though the end stop arm was missing the end stop still worked except it no longer would hit the motor due to the mount for the end-stop being slightly ahead o

What I want is PET like plastic bottles are make of, melting point closer to 260C, not these lower temp variants. Have run some shredded bottles through my filament extruder, but is very hard to get consistant diameter, still testing.
That's something I want to try as well. What I originally wanted to do was to design an extruder to take a strip cut from a bottle or jug directl

Those are real cheap on ebay, most seem to be under 5 dollars with shipping. Here's hoping that someone here has had positive experience with these since I want to add bed leveling to my Prusa i3 but would love a fixed sensor instead of one on an activator that flips down like I was planning.

A couple of other things, mine has a button and a rotary control, the button is an emergency stop everything and the rotary control allows changing the speed of the print so you can speed up or slow down from the default rate coded in the gcode during a print, very handy in case your defaults seem too slow or too fast for what you are printing. The rotary control is also used as a menu/item sele

I'm not sure of the errors or warnings but yes to the others. The graphic one I have shows the extruder and bed temps along with the target temps. It also shows the amount of time since starting the print and the fan speed.

I normally print from the SD. I'm trying to remember if one of the previous prints that failed was from the usb, I'm not sure if I had any but the last one was SD based.
I don't have anything on the smooth rod to lubricate, I kinda assumed that since I was using a ball bearinged slide that I didn't need any, would dry graphite work? I have some from a number of years doing pinewood derby.

I'd just wire up the power to it and see if it's power up the LCD so that nothing else gets in the way since all you need to do is see if it works on the power supply.
