Hmm, i did try that, but the whole idea of a completely self contained LCD driven Printer just looks more appealing to me. Having a PC to start a print on the Pi is a bit redundant as the Pi can take care of that itself. Is there any way i can just make Pronterface/Pronsole output the current temperature to a LCD?by adilmalik - General
Ive got a Reprap Huxley with a Melzi board. Unfortunately i cant install a LCD controller to it cheaply (£40 for Panalolu2). I was thinking of buildig a simple Python script that could control the printer using Pronsole, after receiving input from a rotary encoder, buttons etc and even output values such as temp to a 16x2 LCD. Has anyone tried this? Any input on the practicality of this will be aby adilmalik - General
Hi, my Melzi board has a fan connector on it for an additional cooling fan. How can i use it? Can i just connect it directly to my 12v fan because i dont see a flyback diode in the schematics? Cheersby adilmalik - General

Thats clears a alot of things up but im still confused on how i should set the right current for my motors? My motors are rated 12v 0.33 amps, currently they are getting pretty warm. I measured the current in oil coil, in full step mode and it came exactly at 0.33amps, does that mean the current is set correctly?by adilmalik - General
Hi everyone! Im new to all this, and decided to build a simple XY table before moving on the Repraps. Ive got everything build up with the appropriate electronics, my only question is about the electronics. Im using the A4982 Stepsticks and Stepper motors rated 12v and 0.33 Amps. Currently the stepsticks are in full step mode and i want to set them to 8th step, can i just set the MS1, MS2 pinsby adilmalik - General
Is it possible to run a LCD from the Melzi board to output stuff like bed/hotend temperature and print progress? Has anyone done it?by adilmalik - General
Regarding belt tensioning, is there a video example of how tight the belts should be? Im really not sure.by adilmalik - Printing
Ah yes ofcourse, i have attached 3 pictures now. You can see the poor teeth definition. How can i improve this?by adilmalik - Printing
Try tightening the extruders entry hole so the hobbed gear presses with greater force on the filament. I saw that after a few prints these nuts came loose and it stopped extruding.by adilmalik - Printing
I just build my Reprap Huxley and from the start it prints great. But when i tried to print pulleys (GT2), there is barely any teeth definition, it just prints a wavy cylinder. Upon closer inspection i saw that the spacing between the teeth is correct but they are just not deep enough. Im using a 0.5mm nozzle. Any ideas on how to improve this?by adilmalik - Printing
I just build my Huxley all works well accept the Heatbed and Extruder. I test the extruder by sending M302 to allow cold extrusion, however it does not return any thing back it just reads "M302 sending", after this i type G1 E5 F200, and it too returns nothing, all i can see in the box is Sending. The same goes when i send the command to return Bed and Nozzle Temperature. Any Ideas?by adilmalik - Reprappers
I have the same problem. Can someone post a guide on how to fix this please.by adilmalik - Huxley
So ive finally set up my Huxley all ready to go. But the heatbed doesnt seem to work...Ive checked all the connections and found all of them to be fine, the thermistor has a resistance of around 93 K ohms so i think thats alright too, but the head bed still wont function. According to the build instructions the inner most pin on the heatbed is supposed to be GND, using a multimeter i checked thby adilmalik - Huxley
Hello, The latest crowd funded 3D printer the Pirate 3D released their latest update and they showed how their z axis consists of a single rail moved by one stepper motor and a pulley. They claim it still achieves an accuracy of 100 microns. Do you think something similar could be developed for Reprap? Using a single stepper for z axis might bring down cost?by adilmalik - Let's design something! (I've got an idea ...)
Yeah after much thinking i decided to go for the huxley quite small but good build volume.by adilmalik - General
Im very excited, ive ordered my first ever 3D printer kit (Reprappro Huxley), and im a but curious on whats the maximum print quality you can get. Can someone direct me to pictures of good quality prints they have seen/printed? Cheers!by adilmalik - General

Its a type. I ment 20%...I guess ill get a mendel then, hopefully i can make it print decent prints, thats my fear.by adilmalik - General
i didnt take into account 205 VAT . i think i will go for the mono mendel. What can you guys tell me about it? is it a good build?by adilmalik - General
Well a few days ago i posted a topic here and im finally convinced that ill be buying a Reprap kit. My budget is GBP 500, and ive seen reprappro.com Mono Mendel which is very good by the looks of it. Do you guys no any other alternative kit for that price? i want to look at all my option. Ive heard about the mendel 90 , but where can i buy the kit?by adilmalik - General
And generally after building it how long does it take to make it do decent prints? Im buying one from reprappro.org, their kit seems very well documented, supported and organised.by adilmalik - General
As this is going to be my first experiment with reprap do you guys think i should by the cheaper Huxley or the bigger Mendel?by adilmalik - General
P.s i want to go for the Reprap but i want to be sure i can get it making decent prints.by adilmalik - General
Hello! Well in a few days ill be buying a 3D Printer but im not sure which one to get. Due to my budget ill be getting a ReRapPro mendel kit or a Solid doodle 2. I was wondering if you guys could help me decide. Initially i was all for the diy Reprap as i like tinkering around and building stuff but as i did some research ive come across people discouraging me from buying reprap as they take moby adilmalik - General
